Excellent hotel with great service.
We stayed at the Hyatt in February and from the moment the taxi pulled up we were treated like royalty. The service could not have been better and the hotel more beautiful. We upgraded our room so we could have access to the Regency Club Lounge which was well worth the extra money. The happy 2 hours in the evenings started the evenings off perfectly and it was soo nice to be able to eat breakfast on the terrace. Muscat itself was beutiful and unspoilt. The Omanis themselves were so welcoming and friendly especially the taxi drivers. The... more
Nice Hotel but ...
Stayed in Grand Hyatt Muscat 18/20 January 2006, rooms are nice, cozy and spotless clean, the hotel has an overall luxurious traditional Arabic decoration. As quoted by fellow trip advisor members food at the various restaurants is too expensive however for lunch it is always possible to walk outside the hotel 2 mn down the beach where there is some small coffee shops at reasonable price. Due to the lay out of the hotel one big disadvantage is that by 15h30 (3h30 Pm) the pool area get no more sun and became dark (at least at this time of the... more
Fabulous trip
Have just returned from our first trip to Oman. What a delightful country so clean and friendly and the locals could not do enough for us, charming and hospitable. We stayed at the Hyatt which was fantastic in all respects. We were there for xmas and the food was superb in all the hotel restaurants. Service was good and the rooms were fabulous real 5 star treatment throughout. Would definetly reccomend and hopefully return in february next year albeit we are going to try the al bustan and the accomodation at the dive centre too.
nice hotel but expensive
The hotel was very modern, clean and the rooms were lovely and decorated to a high standard (we had a lovely view of the pool area from our room). As all the other reviews here state - the hotel restaurants were very expensive. In particular we found the Italian to be very overpriced for the standard of food and service received. The evening buffet was of a high standard as was the buffet breakfast but again they were not cheap. In addition the cafe in the lobby area was quite smokey and generally the hotel was geared towards business... more
Do not recommend to stay
We were staying with another couple in two rooms, we were visiting from Europe and our friends from Dubai took as for a weekend to Muscat. While the country is faboulous and the Grand Hyatt is a spectacular hotel, I can only say that the prices are way to high. High prices are one thing, terrible, unfriendly and unprofessional service are not acceptable. We asked for the Manager at one point as the rooms were not as booked, but on both occassions the Manager in charge of rooms did no return the call or came to see us at the reception. We... more
Great Hotel but expensive food
Stayed at the Grand Hyatt for five days at the end on November. Hotel facilities were very good and the room was excellent - nice and big with a large bathroom, massive bath and separate walk-in shower. Pool and beach area was well kept and plenty of sunbeds always available. My only negative point was that the food (and drink although this was expected) was quite expensive especially if you compare this with places like Dubai. The buffet breakfast was excellent, as was the evening buffet. Would also recommend the italian restaurant, but... more
Nice Hotel
My family (wife and 3 kids, ages 8,10,14) spend 5 days in Oman in Oct. The previous few reviews are so accurate I almost did not write this review. However, I know how much I rely on Tripadvisor reviews so I thought I would add a few comments. With regards to the hotel: - large rooms, nicely appointed - very nice lobby area - new hotel, well maintained - Good size pool, good for kids - Beach is not nice - Service is good - Food is very expensive But, again the previous reviews have... more
So good we are going back....
We had a wonderful time - great rooms great facilities, excellent restaurants with wide choice and an attentative staff and conceirge service. In fact we loved Oman so much we are going back in December and have already booked the Grand Hyatt. We stayed in a Grand King room - worth the extra even if for the realxing breakfast and pre-dinner hors doerves in the lounge! I work in the Travel Industry and am VERY FUSSY about accomodation but have to say that this is a wonderful place to stay. You should not compare this to Dubai though -... more
What a Great Place
What a great place to stay! We were welcomed warmly, the check-in was efficient and the staff escorted us to the rooms while explaining the facilites. We had a faboulous three days at the hotel, food excellent, always a personal touch. During the course of our stay we also met some managers of the hotel. Especially the Director of Rooms, Chris from Switzerland, is a great chap - always witha lot of tips at hand, knwos what guests expect, etc. THey have also upgraded the facilities, the beach and sun chairs are in excellent condition (I have... more
Omani 5* - In Your Dreams
As a member of the hotel's health and beach club for the last 6 months, I've finally found somewhere to sound off about its quality. The establishment purports to be 5* but that is a local rating and extremely generous when compared to Dubai (where we were members at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel). The quality of the building and fittings is 5* - no doubt about that; but, where it falls down is quality of service and ancillary facilities like gyms and beach area. The latter can only be described as a patch of dust with a tree, some tatty... more
