Fiesta Beach Hotel Reviews
" We liked the hotel very much. It’s... "
Submitted By: BulgarienfanIt’s situated at the north end of Sunny Beach, just next to Helena Sands. It’s only a wide walking alley that stands between it and the thin-sand beach. There are various opinions regarding the hotel location. On the one hand, it takes some 30 minutes to walk from the noisy centre; on the other hand, it’s very quiet in the evening and the noise from the discos and bars doesn’t bother one’s sleep. It’s the ideal place for someone who seeks calmness. Getting to the stop of the mini train and the buses takes some ten minutes. It takes a bit less to get to the first kiosks and Crown change bureaux.
Altogether, the hotel disposes of 277 rooms dispersed on 10 floors. The reception desk is in the lobby, there are upholstered booths, a lobby bar, two lifts and a restaurant. There is a consulting room, a hairdresser’s, a souvenir shop, a mini shop and a few PCs for internet usage. Outside the hotel, there is a swimming pool with a terrace and a bar. The sunbeds and the parasols at the swimming pool are for free.
Almost everybody at the reception desk speaks both English and German very well. Checks-in and out were easy to make.
Some comfortable booths with padded seats are located in the ample lobby. There are three TV sets so everyone could watch the games from the European football championship. Cleanliness there was spotless. The staff were dusting and polishing all the time.
The comfy lobby bar is in the foyer, too. The small footstools were also spectacular. They are very uncommon in Sunny Beach; however, they make sitting very relaxing. The bar was open non stop, its staff working in three shifts. We arrived at 3:30 in the morning and by 6:00 a.m. we had several Bulgarian pints. The shifts were as follows: 8.00 a.m. – 4.00 p.m, 4.00 - 12.00 p.m. and from 12.00 pm. to 8.00 am.
The three teams took perfect care of us. We even had a table that was booked only for us. Well, we downed a lot of bottles of wine there.
The food at the hotel was extremely delicious, including breakfast - this is exceptional in Sunny Beach. Breakfast and dinner were served as a buffet. The choice was wide and there was enough from everything. They were constantly stocking the table up.
The customer service at the restaurant was of high level. Dirty cutlery was quickly taken away and ordered drinks were served with no delay.
On Sundays, a Bulgarian thematic evening would take place. Colourful table cloths that are typical for Bulgaria were put on the white ones. After the toast with a sip of Rakiya and a hand-made piece of bread, we were served typical Bulgarian dishes. After that guests could enjoy Bulgarian folklore. An orchestra played in the rest of the evenings; everyone willing to dance could do it.
Our rooms were spacious. They were furnished with the typical stuff. There was an air-conditioner, phone, TV set, mini bar and a balcony. I liked the shower. It was so made that one had to be very awkward or malicious to flood the bathroom.
The rooms were cleaned every day, towels being changed constantly. During my three-week stay we had our sheets changed several times.

Submitted By: Mrs Clair TierneyHotel food was bad, stale bread, no cups or plates, if you were lucky to get some they were usually dirty. All staff were ignorant and unfriendly, the only staff that had a smile were the cleaners and then we found out they pinched my mums mobile phone from her room!! BIG problem with ants in most rooms ( there were 15 of us, all with the problem), My sister went last year and said how great it was and cheap, DEFINATELY gone downhill, the prices have more than doubled, a good holiday if not fussy about standards and are happy to eat pizza and drink local beer, we would never return again.
A horrible country.

Submitted By: Mrs K AdamsWent on holiday with husband and 3 - 16 year old boys, who all thought the resort was great fun. Very good value for money. Slightly disappointed that did not have a sea view room.
Rooms were simple, but very clean and comfortable. The food that we had at the hotel been really good, a large selection of choices for breakfast. Highly recommended.

Submitted By: Ms C EganThe staff were very friendly and helpful and had a fair level of English.
The rooms were clean and bright, cleaned daily by friendly cleaning staff and towels changed daily if you required them to be.
The breakfast was buffet style and there was a very good choice off hot and cold food, something to please everyone.
Only fault was that it was hard enough to get sunbeds in the morning but we survived that! The hotel is situated at the end of the resort and it is nice and quiet. It is right on the beach front and you have lovely walks on the promenade or on the beach.
Food and drink is very cheap. I found the selection of food in the restaurants very good. I have to at this stage recommend a Restaurants called De Jannys (think that is the spelling), it is in the centre of sunny beach and it very reasonable and off very good quality and good service also Flagipol! (opposite the Palace hotel on the promenade) the same as De Jannys.
Hired bikes at only 12 lev for two for two hours and cycled to Nessebar and all around it, it was like been in a different world.
Highly recommend it. Has a very enjoyable holiday and will return again.

Submitted By: Mr J MooreVery clean, nice room with a great view. The staff were very helpful and always made time for their guests.
We stayed bed and breakfast and the breakfast was out of this world, as was the bar.
The hotel was in a nice area of Sunny Beach with only a short walk to all the restaurants and bars.
I would highly recommend this hotel and I will be back again!
Thanks for making my holiday fantastic!

Submitted By: Mrs P. EvansBe prepared to wait at the Airport. We waited, and waited (outside) - 2 hours to check in going home. Good job it didn't have one of its torrential downpours.
We had a lovely room in the Hotel Fiesta Beach overlooking the promenade and pool next door. Not enough wardrobe space or drawer space but that is the norm. The staff were friendly. The breakfast did not have a great deal of choice but sufficient. The food and plates were hot and you could have an omelette made to order.
The only downside to the hotel was the sun beds. There were just not enough for the size of the hotel. There was wasted space where sun beds could have been put.
Have a baked potatoes (massive) from one of the stalls on the Promenade. Much nicer than any you will get in England. 5 levs for as many fillings as you want.
Go round the side of the Victoria Palace Hotel to get on the land train into the centre (2 levs each) or taxi 15 levs. Walking down the promenade takes about 30 minutes.
The Rep told us to change money at the Crown kiosks. Change it in the hotel, the rate is much better.
All in all, a very good holiday. The people are so friendly and everyone speaks excellent English.

Submitted By: Miss B DolanPositives:
The food in the hotel was really nice, they had a buffet breakfast and did well to cater for everyone having a range of foods including English fry, pancakes, cereal, fruit, and toasts and had English tea/coffee and fruit juices. The lunch menu in the hotel was also very nice.
Whilst we were there we did not eat an evening meal in the hotel as it is so cheap to eat out and sample different types of food, other people who were also staying here had told us that they had tried the evening meals and they were also really nice.
The staff in the hotel were very nice and friendly, the rooms were cleaned daily. The rooms were clean and well kept with lovely views from the balconies of the beach and pool. The fiesta had a lovely swimming pool and kiddie’s pool and there are sun loungers by the pool.
The first choice rep was very friendly and helpful and gave allot of good tips and advice.
Negatives:
There are not many negatives about the fiesta beach, the only thing that was annoying was that there were not enough seats by the pool and many people would cover the seats with their towels then leave and not come back for a few hours despite there being numerous signs around the hotel and pool advising not to do this and that staff would lift the towels after half an hour unattended but there did not appear to be any staff that did this.
The fiesta could do with putting a few more seats by the pool as they have enough room to do so.
The air conditioning in the room was not very powerful and did not have much effect.
Overall Fiesta Beach Hotel:
The fiesta Beach is a lovely hotel and the food was great. They clearly had done their homework on trying to cater for food for tourists as they had allot of English foods.
Overall Sunny Beach:
Lovely area with lots of sun, sea and sand. Most of the people are very friendly. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants, everything is very cheap. There is an Aqua Park nearby which is great fun for all ages and buses to the nearby towns are very cheap.
The only negatives are that as you are walking along the promenade you are tortured by numerous people trying to get you to eat and drink in their place and continuously bombarding you with leaflets. Also Taxi drivers will continuously try and get you to get in but I would advise against this as the bus is so cheap and the taxi drivers are well known to charge more than they should.
Also there are lots of people trying to get you to change currency with them but I would again advise not to do this as most of them have fake money and try to imitate the real bureaus, only go the crown bureaus. Although everything is very cheap in sunny beach you have to pay for almost everything you do, you have to pay to sit on the beach, go to the toilet and if you take photos of any of the animals you see even if it is your own camera, so be aware don’t take pictures of the animals they will chase you for money.
Overall it is a nice place and was a very enjoyable holiday.

Submitted By: Mr P Cookfirst choice hotel due to availability we selected it. Having now spoken to people who were staying in the very large so called "grand" hotels, boy were we delighted with with our choice.
We also during our stay went into the other "grand" hotels for a look and yes on first appearance they are spectacular, but service and food we were told was very bad.
Found our hotel, food, and staff great.
We had a junior suite with balcony on the 5th floor overlooking the fantastic beach and sea. Room was clean as was the rest of the hotel. If I had to find a fault with the hotel then I would say we struggled to find sun beds around by our pool, we also found out the reason for this was people from other hotels preferred our hotel and its amenities to their own.
In some ways another compliment for the hotel. The resort of sunny beach itself is very much like mainland Spain for bars, shops and clubs, and very cheap. For a reality check we went on a cultural trip around the country and up into the mountains were the real people live.
My wife and I would definitely go back, if the effects of Bulgaria's entry into the E.U. next year doesn't change the prices.

Submitted By: Mr J KearnsThe food that everyone goes on about was not a problem for any of our party (4 Adults & 3 kids) good choices and plenty of it sure the kids were fussy but they were fussy before we went on holiday.
The rooms where fine, nice bathroom-great power showers.
I've been to many countries and never seen rain, first night there was thunder, lightning and a couple of inches of rain thrown in. We thought the worst... the next six days it was in the 90s everyday, thankfully.
Sunny Beach itself is no different to many resorts, it’s got both good and bad, some great beach bars to sit in at night and drink some lovely beer (2 lev = 80p a pint). The bad side is wee guys on electric motor bikes, horse and carriages, golf carts, rikshaws and mini trains all fighting for space on a narrow pedestrian road.
Don’t be put off by any of the negative reviews, we were before we went and we all got a great holiday.
Of all the countries me and my wife have visited we have only been back to Cyprus twice, we are strongly thinking about Sunny beach next year.

Submitted By: Miss C RogersHOTEL......... It was clean and friendly, our rooms were cleaned and towels changed every single day. The pool and the amount of sunbeds round it, was far too small for the size of the hotel, unless you can get to the pool at 7.30 in the morning or earlier, you’ve got no chance of getting a sunbed, and the pool is freezing.
The half board dinners were ok, it’s a buffet selection, and there’s a fair choice, even for fussy eaters like me, but ordering food from the pool bar was rank. Don’t order a 'Running Chicken Pizza' .......... it isn’t chicken!!! God knows what it was, but it wasn't chicken. Other than the food and the pool the hotel was great, although the Thomson rep was nowhere to be seen, and if you're waiting for your transfer to the airport, wait right by reception, because they won't call you. We sat in the lobby bar, about 5 meters away from reception and no-one told us the coach was there, so we missed and had to pay 50levs for a taxi to the airport, and Thomson said it was our own fault and tough!
THE RESORT, well........ We couldn't sunbathe much, because most of the week was overcast. If you want to go on the beach you have to pay. Only if you want to go anywhere near the water though. We paid 18levs for 2 sun loungers and a parasol.
The men who rent out the beds and parasols, constantly come round saying, do you want any coffee, cappuccino, coca cola, ice cream, etc etc. They also warn you not to buy money from anywhere on the streets, because it’s fake money. Yet they are keen to tell you what a great rate of exchange they can get for you, they say we can just sit back, relax, and they'll sort it all out for you. (Id be very surprised if their money is legitimate though).
We had a go on Jet Skiing twice, the first time was 70levs for 20 mins, the second time was 50levs for 20 mins because we went to a different guy. So if you’re planning on doing stuff like that, get different prices from different guys. There’s plenty of them up and down the beach.
On the beach front, there are shops upon shops of counterfeit clothes, shoes, bags and nick knacks. Also tonnes of stalls for getting henna tattoos, hair braiding and questionable silver.
Up and down the beachfront are people begging, and some using animals cruelly to do so. We kept seeing little girls all through the night and day, with puppy dogs so young they hardly had any fur. I’m surprised they survived the week, because where they were fed and watered I don’t know? We also saw people with horses, snakes, lizards, chameleons, crocodiles, iguanas, and I even saw a bear. An actual, enormous bear, with tinsel on its head. How cruel!
The MAFIA......The Bulgarian Mafia are present in this resort, and they don’t try and hide it. With their luxurious cars and hotels, and big beefy meatheads. Their chain of hotels are called the Victoria Group. They control a lot of the goings on in the resort.
One example is, money laundering. When people tell you not to change money on the street, you think of actual people coming up to you asking you if you want to change money, but its not that, they have proper official looking places to change them. Like little white office huts on the beach front. All advertising a great rate and no commission. We were lucky that we changed all our money in the UK, but other people we met said, only change your money at the bank or at your hotel (obviously not the Victoria Hotels). The bank actually gives the best exchange rate too.
.......be extremely careful on the night times. Prostitutes litter
The street pick pocketing men. They come in crowds of 3 or more, and when a bloke walks past they jump him and their hands go straight into their pockets, I actually saw it with my own eyes, it was horrifying. When we tried to warn people they shouted. F*** Off! You don’t know who you’re dealing with. (3 guess as to what they’re talking about)
THE NIGHTLIFE..... Is crap! Whether you're old or young the nightlife is awful. There are bars which are open all day, and then close at about 11/12ish at night. They all play really loud banging dancing music all day and all night.
The other places to go out drinking are restaurants or nightclubs. The restaurants hardly play any music, and the nightclubs are in the dodgy end of town where the prostitutes are.
If you just want to go to a bar and have a bit of a boogie, it isn’t going to happen. Because they’re all empty and no-one dances. I don’t know why though?
Oh and in almost every single bar and restaurant, even though the toilet belongs to them, you have to pay, only about 50cents, but it’s still cheeky in my opinion. And most of the toilets are unsanitary and stink to high heaven.
FOOD........ Horrible, greasy, bland, and dirty, we and everyone else we met had bad stomachs all holiday.
BEER..........is ridiculously cheap, about 2-4levs for a pint, that’s about 70p-£1.50 per pint. The foods cheap too, just not very nice.
The resort is very European, there are too many British people, mainly Swedish, Norwegian, French, Danish and others. It’s a strange place to be.
If you want to go on holiday, for a henna tattoo, to have your hair braided, buy counterfeit clothes, and be hounded by pick pocketing prostitutes then Sunny Beach is the place to go, otherwise id steer well clear.
I’m sad to complain so much but, it really was a let down.

Submitted By: Dr G CallonThe only downside to the holiday was some serious torrential rain over the Saturday night which caused severe flooding to the resort. Our hotel room on the 5th floor suffered due to badly sealed windows and we awoke on the Sunday morning to find a large pool of water over the carpet. On reporting the matter, the staff acted very quickly and eventually came back 2 or 3 times to vacuum up the water. This did not however spoil our holiday at all, bar a day stuck in the hotel with the bad weather.
The Thompson rep Laura is also worthy of a mention in that we found her to be very pleasant and always very helpful. She was available at convenient times and nothing was ever too much trouble for her. She also generally left us to get on with our holiday though we knew she was there if we needed her.
All in all, Sunny Beach is a good holiday destination for couples, single young groups of friends and also families. Most hotels in the area appear to be of a good standard and I for one was not disappointed by Fiesta Beach.
" Sunny beach is a busy resort best... "
Submitted By: Miss N Walters HopkinsIn the race to please tourists I feel sunny beach has lost its Bulgarian identity and could be compared to places such as lloret de mar in Costa Brava.
There are lots for children to do and there are 2 water parks nearby with a free bus, there’s lots of crazy golf and water sports on the beach.
The fiesta beach hotel is marked as four stars but I would say it is a 3 star. The rooms had plenty of room and were always clean and tidy. The staff in the hotel were top notch. You can get a great massage in the hotel for £15, bargain!
If you want young drunk fun in the sun, Bulgaria is great if you’re looking for class and culture go somewhere else.

Things that let this hotel down........the first one is that when you venture into some of the other hotels, you will feel let down going back to the Fiesta because it is so basic. The hotel looks fancy on the outside, but is definitely not on the inside. One of the other people who booked this holiday decided to go for the evening meal, but said that it looked a bit "tired", so it might not be a good idea to go half board. And finally, be careful about hiring a room at the end of your break. Our flight home was not due until 12.30 am, but our check out was at 12 noon. We asked how much it would be to keep the room on and the receptionist told us it would cost 10 lev per hour. We decided just to book a room for one hour between 6 and 7 so that we could get freshened up for our flight and the receptionist told us that we couldn't because the hotel was full. When the holiday rep from Thomson's intervened, she then said that she could give us a room, but that the lock to the room was broken. We were then told to leave it until the last day to see what was available. Upon check out, we arranged for a room to be booked from 6pm until 7pm. When we went to the reception at 6, they told us that we would have to wait until the gentleman in front of us had used the room. What? Who said anything about sharing a room with another holiday maker? This really let the service down and what ended up happening was that the man in front of us used the room for 20 mins and then we had to rush in for the next 30 or so mins after him and were not provided with dry towels. The hotel was definitely not full and this was just a way of them making a quick buck and not having to pay for cleaning servics once we had used the room. Furthermore, it turns out that this was the room that two other holiday makers from our tour company had kept on until 6 o'clock, which meant it wasn't even ready for anyone to use at the booked time of 6 when we went to the reception. The receptionist told us that the room was being cleaned, but in actual fact, these two people had just left the room at 6. Even worse, was that when we had been speaking to these two people, they told us that they had been to Bulgaria three times and had agreed with the receptionist to get the room for 6 hours for 30 lev, not for the 10 lev an hour that we had been told was the going rate. As these people had been there before, they basically "knew the score". For me, this left a bit of a bad taste, especially when we had asked to have a room about 4 days before our departure date and didn't think we would be sharing the same room as other holiday makers without it being cleaned. It felt a bit gross stepping into the shower after the guy in front of us when it was still soaking wet. Eugh. Would I stay at this hotel again? No is the definite answer. Head somewhere like the Majestic. Chances are, you will only pay an extra £20 to £30 for your holiday and have a better stay.
Advice: The beach is clean and the people are friendly. Eating out - the food is fresh, good and tasty.
Activities: Shapika - behind the Crazy Golf right beside the Hotel Bellvue
Good for: Beach
