This was my first visit to Bulgaria. My friend and I arrived at about 11pm and we found the reception staff to be very efficient and we were checked in quickly. The room was spacious and always clean with a television and mini bar. The staff were very pleasant at all times and although the level of English was basic, they always had a very friendly manner and were always courteous. The hotel food was of a good standard at all meal times, with plenty of choice. On Sunday evenings, traditional Bulgarian cuisine is on offer which I found to be excellent. A special mention is worthy of Natalie, the Bulgarian girl who greets guests as they go into the restaurant. She has a warm and friendly nature and makes you feel very welcome.
The only downside to the holiday was some serious torrential rain over the Saturday night which caused severe flooding to the resort. Our hotel room on the 5th floor suffered due to badly sealed windows and we awoke on the Sunday morning to find a large pool of water over the carpet. On reporting the matter, the staff acted very quickly and eventually came back 2 or 3 times to vacuum up the water. This did not however spoil our holiday at all, bar a day stuck in the hotel with the bad weather.
The Thompson rep Laura is also worthy of a mention in that we found her to be very pleasant and always very helpful. She was available at convenient times and nothing was ever too much trouble for her. She also generally left us to get on with our holiday though we knew she was there if we needed her.
All in all, Sunny Beach is a good holiday destination for couples, single young groups of friends and also families. Most hotels in the area appear to be of a good standard and I for one was not disappointed by Fiesta Beach.

Sunny beach is a busy resort best suited to 18-30 Germans as that who is mainly there! The beach is wonderful and the Bulgarian people are very friendly and cannot do enough to help.
In the race to please tourists I feel sunny beach has lost its Bulgarian identity and could be compared to places such as lloret de mar in Costa Brava.
There are lots for children to do and there are 2 water parks nearby with a free bus, there’s lots of crazy golf and water sports on the beach.
The fiesta beach hotel is marked as four stars but I would say it is a 3 star. The rooms had plenty of room and were always clean and tidy. The staff in the hotel were top notch. You can get a great massage in the hotel for £15, bargain!
If you want young drunk fun in the sun, Bulgaria is great if you’re looking for class and culture go somewhere else.

I went to Hotel Fiesta Beach for one week with my boyfriend. We had a good welcome by staff as we arrived at 5 in the morning we were glade there was no fuss. Room were very clean. The brochure said there was a hairdryer I the room, not very useful as it’s a wall unit so I would defiantly take your own. Food in the hotel was good nothing to Wright home about but plenty of chose.
The Bulgarian night in the hotel was good and it was nice to try local foods. The pool bar was the most expensive place we drank, drinks cost more than inside the hotel so I would give it a miss. The location of the hotel was really good, you are out side the main resort but I think this was an advantage. We went on a jeep ride up in the mountings one day and I would say it’s a must.
Bulgaria is a lovely country and I would defiantly recommend it. Be aware that as it is not part of the EU this meant we saw a pet Bear, monkey and snakes being walked around most evening, but you were not pestered by the locals

Lovely hotel very clean, nice and friendly staff, great location my first visit to Bulgaria and was not disappointed.
The food was good and all food was well cooked no pink chicken. Had to be up early to get sun bed or you sat on a chair not nearly enough beds.
Resort I would say is suitable for couples as no entertainment in hotel and not much for children to do if the weather is bad there is nothing apart from walking along the excellent prom. Lovely golden sands and very clean.

My boyfriend and I spent 7 nights at the hotel Fiesta and this was plenty. Whilst we very much enjoyed the bustling atmosphere of the Sunny Beach resort itself, our hotel was a bit of a disappointment.
The best words to describe Hotel Fiesta Beach are, Night Ants (watch out), Leaky patio doors, wet and smelly carpet, Very rude reception staff, very early dinner times and lost passports !! I think First Choices' 3*+ rating is over generous.

This is a really nice hotel we were actually meant to be staying at the Sani Grand hotel in the center of sunny beach but 2 weeks before the holiday we had a phone call telling us we were moving to the fiesta beach. We arrived at the hotel at 4am and a porter carried the cases to our room, mind you he did stand there until we tipped him. The hotel is very clean the rooms get cleaned every day and clean towels every day. There were plenty of sun loungers around the pool but the pool is very cold it took me 20mins to finally lower myself into it and I lasted about 1min.
As for the food there was always a lot to choose from some days it was a better choice than others but I suppose you don’t get British food if you’re not in Britain. I also heard that Bulgarians like their food quite cold but this was not a problem at the hotel it was always warm enough. We were booked into a suite which had 2 single beds and a fold out couch, it had huge windows and balcony with a great view from both. we were very lucky as the weather was amazing the whole week.
There was 4 of us 2 adults and 2 kids we spent most of our days by the pool or down on the lovely beach (beware of the jelly fish) as there was not a lot for kids to do in sunny beach and we found out the water park doesn’t open until June. As a whole we enjoyed the hotel, the location of the hotel, the friendliness of locals and just getting away from rainy Scotland.
I would highly recommend getting a portrait done as there is a lot of good street artists we got the kids done and it turned out really nice. I would recommend Bulgaria but if you have 2 young kids a week is long enough I would definitely go back but we are going to wait a few years when I think they might have a bit more to do.

An excellent hotel, very clean and in a great location. Food was good and varied every day, even our 2 year old daughter ate well. Meal times were 6-9 in the evening which was great so it was never overcrowded.
No real entertainment in the hotel just a couple singing during your evening meal.
Not very child friendly didn’t like kids playing about but there was really nothing else for them to do especially as the weather was really bad 8 days out of 14 so it was a case of sitting in the lobby having a drink or staying in your room.
Wouldn’t go again to Sunny Beach with a toddler as there were very few places that catered for children in the evening also none of them not even the hotels had any baby changing facilities.

First Hotel very nice very clean staff very nice polite and helpful.
Rooms
We had a suite 2 single beds and pull out settee very nice good views bathroom had shower only downside not enough storage 1 wardrobe and 2 single drawers. Pool area good.
Pool
Freezing though and quite deep and tiles next to pool should be pulled up very slippy and kids slipped a lot. Food excellent lots of choice always hot and staff really good at keeping on top of it and topping it up.
Location
At the far end of the resort which I liked as we could walk to centre or taxi and get away from noise if you wanted. If you need a taxi go out the back, which is really the front, but you wouldn’t guess. The hotel taxi driver is called Anton and very good we were always walking out the pool side and walking up our first week. It will cost 10 levs to centre worth it.
Entertainment
Well there is a man and a woman sings every night and awful is all I can say. Talked to a rep though and she said there was going to be more. All in all a great hotel only let down by entertainment.

There was 7 of us stayed in this hotel in three separate rooms one was a suite, which contained two single beds and a double pull out bed settee .
The hotel very good and also a very good range of food for breakfast. The rooms were cleaned every day and also towels changed if you left them on the floor of shower room. The hotel is at the end of the resort where it is a bit quieter and more for families the group of us was age ranges from 16 to 67 and we all enjoyed it.
Have stayed in Bulgaria 4 times and the best hotel we have ever stayed in and we are going back in September 2005. Good Holidays to anybody staying in this hotel.

The hotel was fine first of all, but the resort was a let down.
HOTEL......... It was clean and friendly, our rooms were cleaned and towels changed every single day. The pool and the amount of sunbeds round it, was far too small for the size of the hotel, unless you can get to the pool at 7.30 in the morning or earlier, you’ve got no chance of getting a sunbed, and the pool is freezing.
The half board dinners were ok, it’s a buffet selection, and there’s a fair choice, even for fussy eaters like me, but ordering food from the pool bar was rank. Don’t order a 'Running Chicken Pizza' .......... it isn’t chicken!!! God knows what it was, but it wasn't chicken. Other than the food and the pool the hotel was great, although the Thomson rep was nowhere to be seen, and if you're waiting for your transfer to the airport, wait right by reception, because they won't call you. We sat in the lobby bar, about 5 meters away from reception and no-one told us the coach was there, so we missed and had to pay 50levs for a taxi to the airport, and Thomson said it was our own fault and tough!
THE RESORT, well........ We couldn't sunbathe much, because most of the week was overcast. If you want to go on the beach you have to pay. Only if you want to go anywhere near the water though. We paid 18levs for 2 sun loungers and a parasol.
The men who rent out the beds and parasols, constantly come round saying, do you want any coffee, cappuccino, coca cola, ice cream, etc etc. They also warn you not to buy money from anywhere on the streets, because it’s fake money. Yet they are keen to tell you what a great rate of exchange they can get for you, they say we can just sit back, relax, and they'll sort it all out for you. (Id be very surprised if their money is legitimate though).
We had a go on Jet Skiing twice, the first time was 70levs for 20 mins, the second time was 50levs for 20 mins because we went to a different guy. So if you’re planning on doing stuff like that, get different prices from different guys. There’s plenty of them up and down the beach.
On the beach front, there are shops upon shops of counterfeit clothes, shoes, bags and nick knacks. Also tonnes of stalls for getting henna tattoos, hair braiding and questionable silver.
Up and down the beachfront are people begging, and some using animals cruelly to do so. We kept seeing little girls all through the night and day, with puppy dogs so young they hardly had any fur. I’m surprised they survived the week, because where they were fed and watered I don’t know? We also saw people with horses, snakes, lizards, chameleons, crocodiles, iguanas, and I even saw a bear. An actual, enormous bear, with tinsel on its head. How cruel!
The MAFIA......The Bulgarian Mafia are present in this resort, and they don’t try and hide it. With their luxurious cars and hotels, and big beefy meatheads. Their chain of hotels are called the Victoria Group. They control a lot of the goings on in the resort.
One example is, money laundering. When people tell you not to change money on the street, you think of actual people coming up to you asking you if you want to change money, but its not that, they have proper official looking places to change them. Like little white office huts on the beach front. All advertising a great rate and no commission. We were lucky that we changed all our money in the UK, but other people we met said, only change your money at the bank or at your hotel (obviously not the Victoria Hotels). The bank actually gives the best exchange rate too.
.......be extremely careful on the night times. Prostitutes litter
The street pick pocketing men. They come in crowds of 3 or more, and when a bloke walks past they jump him and their hands go straight into their pockets, I actually saw it with my own eyes, it was horrifying. When we tried to warn people they shouted. F*** Off! You don’t know who you’re dealing with. (3 guess as to what they’re talking about)
THE NIGHTLIFE..... Is crap! Whether you're old or young the nightlife is awful. There are bars which are open all day, and then close at about 11/12ish at night. They all play really loud banging dancing music all day and all night.
The other places to go out drinking are restaurants or nightclubs. The restaurants hardly play any music, and the nightclubs are in the dodgy end of town where the prostitutes are.
If you just want to go to a bar and have a bit of a boogie, it isn’t going to happen. Because they’re all empty and no-one dances. I don’t know why though?
Oh and in almost every single bar and restaurant, even though the toilet belongs to them, you have to pay, only about 50cents, but it’s still cheeky in my opinion. And most of the toilets are unsanitary and stink to high heaven.
FOOD........ Horrible, greasy, bland, and dirty, we and everyone else we met had bad stomachs all holiday.
BEER..........is ridiculously cheap, about 2-4levs for a pint, that’s about 70p-£1.50 per pint. The foods cheap too, just not very nice.
The resort is very European, there are too many British people, mainly Swedish, Norwegian, French, Danish and others. It’s a strange place to be.
If you want to go on holiday, for a henna tattoo, to have your hair braided, buy counterfeit clothes, and be hounded by pick pocketing prostitutes then Sunny Beach is the place to go, otherwise id steer well clear.
I’m sad to complain so much but, it really was a let down.
