We have stayed at this hotel several...

Nov 2007, Mrs J Ballingall

We have stayed at this hotel several times in the last few years and it never disappoints. It is set in well maintained grounds with a choice of bungalows or rooms in the main hotel building. There is a sheltered private beach with plenty of loungers and umbrellas and a choice of watersports for the energetic.
The standards in the hotel are excellent and we have never found fault with any aspect of our holidays there. The rooms are spotless, with clean linen daily and the restaurants offers a wide choice of international dishes. The staff are fantastic - friendly, helpful, polite - we cannot praise them highly enough.
The town of Eretria is a few kilometres along the road and is easily reached by bus or taxi. There is a good variety of shops and restaurants and a regular ferry service to the mainland. Public transport is cheap and easy to use if you want to visit some of the other nice little towns on the island.
If you are looking for a busy nightlife you won't find it here. It's a quiet, laid back location, probably best suited to couples. There is adequate entertainment in the evenings and during the peak season there are various events in the outdoor amphitheatre as well as live music in the main hotel bar/lobby area. Most of the guests are Italian, French, Russian, or Scottish but at the weekends the hotel is always full to capacity with Greek families. We love it and will go back as often as we can.

I think this is the best hotel I have...

Sep 2006, Mr R Lamont

I think this is the best hotel I have stayed in in Greece. There is a wonderful atmosphere and the staff are fantastic and really friendly. I went expecting the food to be the usual boring fare but was pleasantly surprised.
The wine in the dining room was very good and also a good price. The rooms are fully air conditioned at no extra cost, the sun beds on the private beach are also free.
The Palmariva has lovely gardens and plenty of entertainment day and evening. It may not suit people who want a fantastic nightlife but the town of Eretria is a 4 Euro taxi journey away, although, there is not a great deal going on there either.
The downside for some, may be the that the Hotel is not near a resort so your are restricted and the main road outside the hotel is extremely busy and not suitable for walking beside.
I really recommend this hotel and if you hire a car you can see parts of the beautiful island of Evia Would definitely go back

Really lovely hotel which was...

Jul 2006, Mrs L Reynolds

Really lovely hotel which was incredibly clean and well kept. Food is to a high standard and drink is not too expensive either (btl wine at dinner 4 euros, pint of beer 3.50 euros) Located on your own private beach with lots of water sports(which you pay extra for), beach bar/cafe, loads of sun beds and parasols (all free) and a life guard on duty.
Pool area is really good and there is tennis courts, mini golf and a children’s play park all on site. A downside to the hotel is the location - nothing else around the hotel other than one small supermarket across the road (this sells alcohol/soft drinks at a fraction of the cost of the hotel's prices) Nearest town is approx 10 mins on the bus but there is very little there either. Hotel was full of French and Greek people and there were only approx 12 Scottish families there. They did try to entertain us but it was all really geared up for the Greek and French market.
All in all, a lovely place to go if you want to relax. Do not go there expecting wild nights because you will not find them here! Another word of warning - if you are going with children, there are a lot of arcade games in the hotel and as there is little else to do at night, the kids will drive you mad asking for money for them. Some of the games do not work but you will struggle to get your money back as the hotel manager says that the bar manager is responsible, and vice versa!
Another word of warning - the Greeks complained to the hotel that our children were making too much noise in the pool (1pm!) as this was their siesta time and they asked us all to be quiet until 5pm. They were politely reminded that this was our holiday and we were not going to be quiet! It was only 6 kids splashing in the pool - not a wild party with music!! The average age of the Greek/French was about 80 so they really weren't too impressed with young children running about.
I would maybe return to this hotel if a British holiday company took over and they geared the entertainment etc for Brits - really disappointed that at the karaoke night I could not sing as it was all in Greek and French :(
