A great place to relax
We have stayed at Paloma on many occasions and have recommended the complex to family, friends and neighbours. The apartments are clean, functional and most have a decent view. The biggest selling point is the pool area which we have always found to be very clean and inviting. Having to pay for a sunbed (only two euros) means that you do not get people saving beds and not using them. The reception team know their business and ensure that some do not spoil it for others. If they have time they are always happy to have a chat and pass the time of day. The bar team are friendly and hard working (you don't spend hours waiting for a meal or a drink). It is not five star but then you are not paying five star money - pound for pound it is exceptional value and ticks the boxes for an enjoyable stay !
Great time had at Paloma Beach
I have been to Tenerife on a couple of occasions before but never in Los Cristianos, so on this occasion in November myself and my partner decided to book somewhere in Los Cristianos. Having browsed the internet i found the paloma beach website which i found very informative and through this found it easy to book our trip. Upon our arrival we were taken to our room by one of the members of staff from reception and found it to be very clean, as well as nicely furnished with a pool view as we had requested. The pool was heated and a good size with a seperate kids pool, although there wasnt many children around at this time of year. Sunbeds around the pool were charged at 2 euros each per day, thought this was very reasonable compared to the price we were charged when we go to the beach and hire some. The pool side bar offered food and drinks throughout the day, entertainment could of been better but being a young couple we didnt often stay in the pool bar late at night as we would often go elsewhere. Overall our stay at Paloma Beach was very enjoyable, the staff at reception were pleasant throughout our stay and helpful with information we required, such as nice places to eat. The apartments were of a good standard and well kept by the cleaning staff. I would recommend Paloma beach to anyone looking for a good, well priced accommodation in Los Cristianos, in particular, couples of all ages, families with young children, families with teenagers or even people who like to travel alone.
Great Location
I have stayed at Paloma Beach many times over the years. It has a great location 2minutes from the beach which has recently been done up although there are to many rocks to swim in this area of the beach the choppy sea's are great to watch while sun bathing during the day. There is a small supermarket again minutes walk called masa menos and as for pubs and clubs there are loads of great little pubs within walking distance or a few euros oin a taxi to the busier las americas. There is a great little Brazilian bar that serves fresh fruit with crushed ice and rum -greatly recommended- There are many very nice, well priced resteratunts along the front a short walk from the appartments. The Steak House (dont be put off by the name) is a great place with lovely staff and quick service a 5mintue walk from paloma beach -great tuna steaks- The Paloma Beach staff i have always found very helpfull in advising places to eat and helping with any problems or additional needs. There is a good family bar at the poolside with internet access and pool table, where the staff always very chatty. it is a great place to have a drink before heading out at night or to have lunch, good atmosphere year after year! People planning a trip here must try out a little ice cream shop called la galosa a few minutes walk from the Sunday Market stalls it has the best ice cream anywhere! its a must try!
A very enjoyable stay
My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our week-long late break at Paloma Beach. We'd stayed there before (in the late 90s) and were pleased to see that it still retained its relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Our apartment was spotlessly clean, comfortable and well equipped, with a large sun terrace. Even if the personal decor wasn't to our taste I'm prepared to live with that. Most of our time was spent outdoors and we were only using the place to sleep in and get changed for going out of an evening. The pool and its surrounds were very clean and well maintained, with plenty of sunbeds for everyone and the adjacent bar provided good value drinks and food served by friendly staff. Trips to various parts of the island or whale watching can be booked through a lovely old gent called Captain John, who lives on the complex and can be found around the pool area most times of the day. He's also extremely knowledgeable about Tenerife and can give lots of helpful answers to everyday questions. There's a well-stocked supermarket just around the corner, opposite the Arona Gran, to buy snacks, drinks and household bits and pieces. A pleasant 15-minute stroll along the seafront promenade will bring you into Los Cristianos, where there are a variety of bars, cafes and restaurants to suit most tastes and pockets. Favourites of ours include Little Italy, El Sol (known as Chez Jacques) and Las Velas, for great paella while watching the sun go down.
Watch out for 'rude' guys
Watch out if you stay at the Paloma Beach apartments, there must be a shortage of "personality" at this complex. Before you read this review I would say that the apartments were very clean and we had no complaints, we had good sea views although the Monstrosity of a building in front of the complex spoiled the overall view. This was a private aprtment that was let out - I think we were lucky in this respect - read on The Pool This guy came buzzing around on his trike asking " who had removed one ashtray from the cafe"?, the embarrasment he caused this couple was disturbing to say the least. The Day Trip All was well until we asked about a night at the piramides, after that, every day was the same, he would buzz up, have a good look and ask "have you made your mind up yet", I dont know if he needed a trip up the mountain but he ceratainly had a good look at my wife's twin peaks! The Manager The manager needs a lesson in customer care, I had noticed one of the reviews had commented about his rudeness, now i'm one that puts up with a lot but when this unshaven, excuse for a man came up at 5pm at night and asked for 4 euros for two sunbeds, I was stuck for words. My comment of it's 5pm and you shut at 6pm I'll give you two ( with a laugh) fell on deaf ears, and then when I passed five euro's over to his grubby little hand, he said " come and fetch your change!!!!!! The Cafe Not bad but there appears to be one rule for them and another for the paying customer. At 1145pm every night we were told to come inside as they were packing up, this was ok but once inside the doors came down and you were made to feel unwelcome, maybe something to do with the two girls that appeared to want more that a vodka and coke Karaoke Alley The bars at the front of the compex were ok but full of "the karaoke croud", the spanish bar near the entrance to the complex came out tops by far, managed by a french girl, it wa nice to be able to sit and drink with friendly faces The Car Park There is a nice walk directly over the road that takes you to the cliff edge, great views but watch the comdom's if you walk around the headland, Its ok in the daytime but don't go at night, It takes on a new role! Overall Would we come back?, possibly, but only as a base, there are far nicer places to stay in Tenerife, catch a cab and try the pyramides area if your looking for somewere nice and spend your money with somebody who appears to want you there
Management response from JohnParkes 06 Dec 2006

I’m glad you found the apartments very clean and had no complaints with regard to them, however I feel I must address your other points. Firstly, all of the apartments are privately owned and rented out and we are not able to demolish buildings obscuring overall views….. The Pool: Glass ashtrays are not allowed around the pool for safety reasons, therefore if one goes missing it is the responsible thing for someone to try and find it. The pool bar do provide plastic ashtrays for poolside use, should they be asked for. The Day Trip: If you object to your wife forgoing her modesty, you should take this up with her. As far as Captain John (extremely knowledgeable, lovely old gent as he is referred to in a later review) is concerned he means well and does not hard sell people as you imply. The Manager: I’m not sure if you mean me or not as we don’t really have rank tags here, but I will say that varying lengths of facial hair does not normally offend people (I may have been trying to grow a beard the week you were here) and I wash my hands regularly! You say later in your review that “there appears to be one rule for them and another for others” – If we charged everyone 2€ per sun bed at 4.59pm and then charged you 1€ per sun bed from 5pm we’d be accused of exactly the same thing. We try and treat everybody as equal regardless of their colour, creed, time of purchase or indeed amount of facial hair. Also it is customary to pay for things before you take them, so if you do miss one of the 2 large, prominently placed signs stating where to pay for the sun beds – then we do normally ask people politely to pick up their change at the place where you were meant to pay, as we don’t carry change on our person. I notice you could read the part of the sign that says we close at 6pm…. The Café: The pool bar closes at midnight. This is because it is located at a central point of the complex. If they were to carry on beyond this time we would receive complaints about noise from the bar and from merry guests returning to their apartments. The bar staff ask everyone on the terrace to come inside at 11.45 in an effort to minimize the above mentioned disturbances to other guests. Karaoke Alley: Some people like Karaoke, others do not – it’s the musical equivalent of Marmite. The Car Park: This is not the car park, it is an area of headland alongside a nudist beach. Overall: I think you should keep your criticism to something more constructive rather than personally insulting people and making ridiculous lewd allegations. This website is meant to give people an idea of where they are thinking of going on holiday, not an insight into your internet rants on whether an old man in a wheel chair is looking at your wife’s breasts - and someone else forgot to shave one day.

Would recommend
My partner and I spent a week in the Paloma beach apartments at the end of October. As the apartments are individually owned, obviously they are all furnished slightly differently, but ours was well furnished and clean. The view from our balcony wasn't anything special but that was not a problem. As we were situated on the far side off the pool away from the bar we were not disturbed by any noise from there, however we did hear every sound in the corridors outside the apartment despite notices asking guests to be quiet when using them. We did not spend any time in the pool and only used the poolside bar once so cannot really comment on them although they certainly looked very clean and well maintained. Maybe it was the time of year but everything seemed to close very early, we were back in our apartment most nights by about midnight. This didn't really bother us as all we wanted was a quiet relaxing time and that is what we got. If you are looking for a bit more night life then I would suggest Las Americas rather than Los Cristianos but contrary to other reviews I would say it is rather a long walk to get there and would not like to have to walk back after a night on the tiles. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from but they all serve more or less the same thing and nearly everything comes with chips. Football fans are well provided for (well English fans anyway) as loads of bars have TVs showing all the games. The disabled are also well catered for both at Paloma beach apartments and in Los Cristianos itself. Motorised buggies can be hired and there are ramps everywhere. We had no complaints at all about the holiday and although I would recommend it I would not return. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt
Fantastic!
What can I say? This was our second visit to these apartments and I enjoyed every single moment of our holiday. The apartments for us are in an ideal location as you can go for lovely walks to the centre of Los Cristianos and Las Americas and it's far enough away to get a good night's sleep! The pool rules are a bit strict but I suppose that's how it's kept in such good condition. Can't wait to get back next year!
Nothing special
Took the family to Tenerife for the first time, total of 3 people. Staying at Paloma Beach is not entirely unpleasent however i would sooner have gone for something a little more satsfying. There are rules for everything which wasn't a real problem but all said & done when your on holiday you don't really want to be under strict instructions. I appreciate the owners of the apartments want to protect there investments, but i think an overhaul of the regulations is overdue! The pool is by far the nicest asset here, cleaned religiously every morning. Apartment was basic but functional, old decor with no frills! If you want to use it as somewhere to rest your head every night after a busy day then it just about fulfills this duty, although the beds we had were poor & there was no A/C (air con) which made the hot August night quite unbearable at times. If you want an early night then you'll have to listen to the Karaoke every night from the on site bar which can very loud! Los Cristianos is within 20 minute amble to the main restaurants which is pleasant enough, although food at most of the restaurants is very samey! Highly recommend FUSION restaurant which is an Asian/Thai & run by very nice Scots. Playa de Americas can be walked to but allow a good hour to reach the hotspots. Our apartment was on the North side of a Horseshoe arrangement which the apartments are in, Every morning we were woken by the construction site 100m away. The seperating walls must be paper thin as you can here your neighbours breathing! Also look out for the grab a poolside spot by 0730 by placing your towel on your rented lounger merchants, sad! Overall i feel 2 stars out of 5 is a little genorous, but the pool & the frequency of lining changes just make it a 2. I will never return to Paloma Beach Apartments, however if your after a reasonably priced get away then consider your options carefully! Suggest paying a little more for your accomodation!
Los Cristianos remains our favourite holiday destination
Myself, my husband and my in-laws stayed at Paloma Beach in June this year and this was our fourth visit to Los Cristianos and our third time in a row to Paloma Beach. As always we found the apartments to be clean, well furnished and maintained well. The staff were always on hand when we needed them, even when I locked myself out at 10pm!!!!!!!! Booked loads of trips through the local character Captain John- Highly recommend the island tour. Los Cristianos remains our favourite holiday destination.
Highly Recommended
I recently spent 10 days at the paloma beach apartments with my wife and young lad and we enjoyed our stay immensely. Upon arrival at reception we were shown to our apartment, which was quite spacious and had a nice view of the sea and harbour. We found it to be comfortable, and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The swimming pool and surrounding area was kept nice and clean during our stay, and the separated baby pool was ideal for our son to play in. The pool bar was quite handy for snacks and ice creams – and got me out of the sun for some much needed beer…. The resort of Los Cristianos itself is undergoing quite a few changes at the minute, with the centre receiving a face lift, although the main church square is just about finished. We hired a car for a few days and managed to see a bit of the island. I’d definitely recommend a day out to Masca, and if you have young children the Aquapark and Jungle Park are good days out. However, be watchful, as the food in these places is quite expensive – I’d suggest taking a packed lunch! All in all we had a great 10 day break with plenty of sunshine. I hope to come back in the near future.
