Great time at the Bahia Princess
Just came back from 2 weeks at the Bahia and had a lovely time. Hotel clean, good choice of food, staff friendly, attentive and great with children. We felt it was a good value for money package hotel. Seeing as it is just going into the school holidays we were concerned about it being overcrowded but it was fine, the fact that there are 3 pools and a kiddies pool spread all the kids out so they could all play easily and safely. My daughter, who is 4, had a fabulous time and absolutely loved mini-club, mini-disco and Mark and Sandra the entertainment staff. Would definitely go back. One thing though there are a lot of steps so not very good for the less mobile.
excellent Hotel, excellent location
Just returned from the Bahia Princess after spending a week there 21st June - 28th June. Me and my partner are in our mid 20's. What an amazing hotel. Staff are the most polite and helpful hotel staff I’ve ever met. Nothing was too much trouble, and they were always friendly and happy. The food was amazing, so much choice and a great selection for all nationalities. Breakfast and evening meals were buffet style, and we went up 2 or 3 times it was that good! Rooms were very clean and spacious, and the maids gave 100% attention to detail. Me and my partner had a road view. We were a little disappointed when we were given this type of room after reading reviews from other guests on this site. But you could not hear any noise with the doors closed and there was an amazing view of Mt tide as a consolation. Air con was standard in all rooms. Two Supermarkets 2 mins walk from hotel. There is a very well stocked English mini market 5 mins from hotel, which stocked all the British favs. At a price, but worth it. Great selection of restaurants from Chinese, Italian, British, German, Spanish. Good prices for those who are self catering. Nightlife is a little low key then the neighbouring playa de las Americas, but great for couples and families with young children. There were 2 british pubs on the front called the ' moonlight bar' This was a great place. Cabaret acts every night, quiz, and karaoke worth taking a look. We saw a Billy Connolly act, rod Stewart, and an amazing duo called 'brothers with blend'. We went on 2 excursions. One to the Auqapark which was very good. One to Loro Paque which is worth every penny. This is a great wildlife park, which is very entertaining and educational for all ages. Worth a look. Would deff recommend this hotel and location for anyone who is after a great holiday, but doesn't want the nightlife of playa de las Americas. Will deff be back again in the future, but for 2 weeks next time.
Fantastic Holiday
We had a fantastic holiday based at this hotel. Probably the cleanest hotel we have stayed at. Food was very good with achoice of fish, meat, poultry or vegetarian every evening. All members of staff were always extremely helpful and polite. It is some distance from the more vibrant night life if thats what you require but there is plenty to do in 10mins walk. The number of steps may be a problem to the less able but there are lifts and ramps available. You can walk for miles along the sea front without much fear of traffic. Shopping for gifts and bargains is a must but the best bargains can be made at the local market held twice a week. This again is about 10mins walk away along the coastal path. A visit to the volcano is a must but remember the cable car to the top costs a further 20 euros adult fare. For sun worshipers there are plenty of sunbeds with no need to get up at 5am to put your towels out. My only gripe was the evening entertainment this was poor and very disappointing for this class of hotel. Everything else was great.
Short break in Bahia Princess (Thomson Platinum Hotel)
We have just returned from a three day break at the Bahia Princess in Costa Adeje, Tenerife. This was our first visit to the Canary Islands and overall we were quite liked it. The resort itself is just along from Playa de Las Americas. We weren't really sure where one ended and the other started. The beaches appear to be mostly man-made and are very sandy with plenty of sunbeds and parasols (for a charge of course). There were a couple of "official" (ie run by the beach itself) beach bars on Playa Torviscas (nearest beach to the hotel), which we found very pleasant. Both had a very relaxing atmosphere, with really good music and they did not rush you at all. The hotel itself was pretty much as described in the brochure. Very grand in appearance, nice pools, efficient staff. We didn't have a problem with all the steps so didn't use the lifts. Because of the time of year and perhaps the type of hotel, the majority of guests did seem to be in their fifties and sixties. We only saw a few young families. We found the general atmosphere to be very laid back and a bit too quiet for us. We didn't stay in the hotel during the day, so can't comment on the daytime activities, but I don't think there were a lot of them. Again maybe it was the time of year. There was only one entertainments person, and he seemed quite stressed. He could speak four languages, but playing bingo (we just happened to be in the bar at the time!) with every number called four times at least, needless to say, took a long time! The evening entertainment was OK, but we've seen a lot better at 3* hotels. A note on each table said to ask the DJ for any songs you want played, except he only spoke Spanish and the bar staff had to translate, which was fun! The bars were good and efficient with very good measures. Our only gripe there was that they made you pay immediately, even though you were a guest. However I think you could set up a credit line at reception, but we didn't bother. The bars outside the hotel were much more trusting and didn't bring the bill until you asked for it. The weather wasn't all that good while we were there, the mountain behind the hotel seemed to attract the clouds. But, when the sun did come out, it was just the right temperature for us. The pools were quite cool even though one was "acclimatised", but I did manage to go in once. Probably would have been better if the sun had stayed out longer. The rooms were very nice, again as shown in the brochure and kept very clean. The TV had satellite, but as usual, many German channels, and only Sky News, EuroSport and CNN in English. The restaurant was very nice, the staff were efficient and the food was fine, but not outstanding. I'm a pretty fussy eater, but I found something I liked each day. On the last day we walked from Los Cristianos to Costa Adeje along the coast path which was very nice. Except, of course for the time-share touts, excursion sellers and cafe-bar owners who bombarded us along the way. We have never really experienced that before and were amazed at the number of them! We became expert at brushing them off in only three days. Overall we enjoyed our break and are definitely planning to go back to Tenerife. However I think we would be more likely to go to Los Cristianos than back to Costa Adeje. We would be very unlikely to go back to Bahia Princess mainly because it was so quiet.
Loved It!
I have been to Tenerife several times but not to this area before. It's a fantastic location - close enough to Americas if you want that sort of thing but far enough away not to be bothered by louts. Beautiful hotel, great food, fantastic restaurant staff. Reception staff a little cool but not enough to spoil the holiday. Holiday could have been spoilt if we had road side room but we had pool side so ok. Would suggest requesting poolside room. Room lovely, maid service faultless. Hotel kept clean at all times. Would return regularly if work would allow. A certain amount of sunbed reserving went on but not to the point of exclusion - there were always enough beds. Yes there were some seedy elements in the area (some x rated shops etc) but you had to look hard to see them and they didn't spoil anything. Holiday could only be made better if it was All Inclusive. We had a great time and didn't want to come home.
Luxury at a reasonable price
My daughter and I, aged 30 and 60 respectively, spent a week at this hotel in January 2004. We knew the area well as we had previously stayed in self catering accommodation not far away. We decided to splash out on this hotel as we had seen it and thought it looked great. We were not disappointed. We had a large comfortable room and bathroom which were cleaned thoroughly daily. The food, on a half board basis, was excellent at both breakfast and dinner. The staff were all very pleasant, in particular the dining room staff, and the service was excellent. The hotel is well situated just out of Playa and, though many people prefer to stay by the pool, we had lovely walks in different directions every day. I plan to return!
Loved the hotel
Having just spent a week at the Bahia Princess (6th to 13th March 2005) we would recommend this hotel over and over again. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food is superb both in quality and quantity (buffet style) although the snack lunches aren't up to much. Evening entertainment could be better but prices are reasonable for this class of hotel. We booked through Thomson platinum scheme with accommodation allocated on arrival. If you go on a trip, avoid Thomsons as they have a hefty mark-up. Book from a good tour company in the resort. You can book through reception. Yes there are loads of steps but also good lifts to avoid them. Buy chocs, drink etc in the local supermarket across the road not in the duty free shop at the airport as much better selection and cheaper.
first class hotel
just returned from a ten day holiday at the bahia Princess. end of feb to the 4th march 2005. Hotel was excellent.Food was excellent so much choice . rooms large and very clean. good size bathroom.staff very helpful. No tea making facilitys in room.pay extra for safe.Hotel is very good and kept to a high standard.all areas are well maintained.location could be better, but very nice rooms make up for this.More like a five star hotel.
not worth the money
me and my family stayed at the bahia in june this year. when we arrived we were told our room was in the second building because we had our son with us. they told us where to go and when we walked down the outside corridor it was like walking though a council estate entrance. the room was clean.the aircon didn`t work. the food was nothing more than average. not worth £2000 in my book. we will not be returning there again.
Like Home
My husband, daughter and myself have been to the Bahia Princess 7 times now. We have just returned and can't wait to return for New Year. The hotel is spotless, the staff always helpful and friendly, the food is also of a high standard. We will continue to take our holiday's there twice a year as we feel we are getting value for money.
