Wonderful resort

The only problem was the sleeper couch it was the most uncomfortable sleeper couch I ever slept on. We could on find a four beds available through RCI so we took it, but we ended on that dreaded couch. They should up grade their sofas, as everything else was definately up market.
Good quality apartment, wonderful quiet hotel, staff excellent

Went Aug 09. Half hour taxi from the airport 35 euros. We had a 1 bedroom apartment, kitchen good all equipment we needed. Pool fantastic, plenty of comfortable sun beds and parasols. Hotel staff very friendly and obliging. Went with a 14 year old and an 11 year old and they enjoyed it. The site shop is a bit expensive. Courtesy bus in to town regular, clean and on time. We went with Club Greece, who we had bought an associate memberhsip last year and while we were here this year we were sold full RCI membership. Bit of a long sales technique but not hard pressure. Would recommend for a totally relaxing holiday, a bit remote from the hustle and bustle. We will come here again
Beautiful resort tucked into a hill overlooking the Aegean Sea
from MikeNYNYUSA
We spent a week in a one bedroom villa at the Village Heights Golf Resort in August. Our room was situated in the lower portion of the resort which was very calm and quiet. When sitting on our small patio, no other rooms could be seen. The kitchen featured high end finishes and appliances which we put to use several times. The lower pool was relaxing and beautiful and we very much enjoyed the PERFECT weather that Crete experiences in the summer. One downside is the onsite a la carte Greek restaurant-- the food was fair at best and the service is brusque and poor despited the resaurant being less than busy. Maria at the front desk and Maria in the food service department were both quite nice and professional. Go out to a local taverna further into the hills for authentic meals.
Great hotel, nice people, Shops and restaurants are a bit expensive.

Watch out when arriving at the airport in crete we got ambushed into the nearest taxi while a yob of angry taxi drivers, arguing over which one would take the most money from us ( in greek of course, but i guessed) it should have cost about 30 euros but he charged us 40 euros, what a rip off ! The Hotel overall was good, the Reps were very friendly. The beds in the room was quite hard and uncomfortable as were the sofa bed and chairs. The swimming pool was very nice. The cleaners didnt arrive at our room untill midday everyday so they didn't wake us up which was good, but we had an red ant problem in our apartment which caused the children to be bitten! We got a free golf buggy ride to our apartment when first arriving and final depart from the hotel, We got to borrow dvd's every day for free with a 24hour return policy, but their wasnt really much available in the way of choice for teenagers. The food at the snack bar was very nice, but after a week we decided to self cater as it was too expensive to keep using the snack bar and the restaurants, and the food at the buffet was very nice, but the chicken there is very dry. Our Holiday at village heights overall was great. Also a year ago we were told we would receive a flower each upon arrival and a beer for my husband, which did not happen, though we did arrive at about 6am.The golf was about a mile down the road from the hotel, crazy golf was available at the hotel but not as good as i expected from a 5 star hotel.
It is what it is.

Having just returned from a two week stay at Village Heights, we are very much looking forward to returning next year. Like so many other members, we were kidnapped off the streets last year, and parted with a little over £3000 for a three year trial membership. Arriving at the resort late one evening, we were a little shocked to find an ambulance leaving the reception area, lights flashing, and a club rep, who looked a little turkish to me, following at high speed on his moped. We soon discovered that one of the members had a mild heart attack, and the resort responded with an almost immediate delivery of an ambulance, along with the full back up you would not normally expect from a tour operator. Fortunatly, as we discovered the following day, the lady was absolutely fine, and thanks to the rapid response of the club rep, both her and her worried husband were looked after. The following day, i took the resort bus down to the local town to do some much needed shopping. On my return i found myself sat next to two elderly ladies at the back of the coach. Both ladies had bags of shopping clutched between their knees and were chatting amiably together. They were so friendly, i thought to myself. They reminded me of my grandmother. Little did i know, that the two lovely grannies were also club reps. I believe they concentrate on looking after the older members, advising them on where the local churches, bingo halls and karaoke nights were. The holiday was a dream come true. So much so, we went looking for our rep, with a view to upgrading to full membership. Unfortunatly for us, we had to wait until our final days to deal with this little bit of business, as our rep was always away playing golf with other members. What a life they have..... all year round sunshine, wonderful working environment, and they even get fed twice a week for free ! Jokes aside, if you have bought into Club Greece, and you have any concerns at all, dont sweat it. You will have a superb time, and will be looked after throughout your stay. Club Greece, thank you for a super holiday, and thanks to the Club Reps for caring so much. I was even able to get my Barnet trimmed prior to my return to work ! G Owen & Family ;o)
Go There!

We just spent 2 weeks at Village Heights, and had a great holiday. Like most reviewers of this resort, I cannot praise the staff enough. We had some issues during our stay, but they were always resolved quickly and with a smile. A car is a must, as the resort is a bit remote, but if you are going to see anything of Crete you will need a car anyway. I played golf at the only 18 hole course on Crete, the course is a 5 minute drive away. The hotel gets a discounted rate, which is just as well as the course currently charges €75 per round. Multi-round deals are available, but buggy hire is another €30, and not discounted. The rooms we had at the resort (1 bed for the first week, 2 bed for the second) were marvellous. Spacious, well appointed, and well maintained. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay Thanks Village Heights!!
Beautiful resort but no view and lousy kitchen
from Internet_Duchess
This could have been a terrific resort. It's in a beautiful location with a good restaurant, good on-site store and nice front desk staff. Don't believe the people who lead you to believe that every unit has a view though. First we were given a unit with no view. When we asked, they told us they were totally booked, but then found a unit with a "partial" view which turned out to be pretty obstructed. I love to cook, but the kitchen was one of the smallest and ill-equipped we've had in a timeshare. No measuring cups or spoons, 3 small pots. Refrigerator was small and not very powerful. The first unit didn't have a dishwasher. We got the distinct impression that they designed it this way to push their own restaurant and over-priced theme dinner buffets. There were no instructions on how to use the oven or stove, and they won't tell you how to operate them over the phone, so you have to wait for one of their staff to come show you. Also the recommended largest supermarket in town had mealy fruits and old vegetables and not much of a selection. Definately not the place to come if you want to cook! The unit did not have a clothes washer, and the resort's on-site service was overpriced, so we had to hand-wash everything and hang our underwear on a stand on the balcony! The on-site spa was also terrible. Dark, uninteresting, indoor pool, and my husband said the massuse gave a pretty poor, untrained massage. It was always deserted which was understandable. The outdoor pool was gorgeous but filled with screaming kids whose parents did nothing to ask them to tone it down - that's not the resort's fault, but I had to mention it in just in case you're looking for a relaxing, romantic vacation by the pool. Parking is far from the units. Positives: The location was good - not far from Knossos and Iraklion (which was better than the guidebooks let on) and was great for catching the ferry to Santorini, which I highly recommend. We also enjoyed walking the Samaria Gorge and visiting Feistos and Matala, an hour and a half drive. The concierge did a good job of booking excellent tours for us including pickup at the resort. If you want to horse ride though, book in advance as all of the stable were completely booked. Great resort if you have young kids and don't want to cook, otherwise, look elsewhere.
All round lovely resort ... highly recommended.

Just returned from an excellent week's holiday at this highly desirable resort. It's relatively new, a few kilometres out of Limenas Hersonisou, set on a hillside with wide ranging views. At present it's the only resort built in the area, although it's clear that other developments are planned for the future (virgin plots up for sale). Goats freely graze the rough vegetation on the hillside outside the resort ... you hear the bells around their necks as they approach. Distant sea views. We arrived very early on the first day, just hoping for a coffee after our overnight flights and an opportunity to use the resort's facilities before checking in in the afternoon. As our unit was vacant we were checked in at 9.00 a.m. .a real bonus .. following a lovely buffet breakfast in in the restaurant. On the basis of this first meal we decided to take the meal package of 7 breakfasts and 5 dinners for 114 euros each. When compared to off site restaurants, we felt this represented excellent value, as there was always a very wide choice of well cooked and presented food at the buffet style restaurant. They have special Greek and Cretan evening meals (+ entertainment) on Wednesday and Friday respectively, which was chargeable separately (24 euro) , which we didn't attend, but rather chose to eat out. Our modern two bedroom, two bathroom, two patio apartment was spacious, comfortable and well equipped for self catering. At this time of year (April) the nice looking outdoor pools are rather cool ... so didn't use. Small indoor pool is fine though. Rather limited gym equipment, but pleasant sauna and steam room. The flowers beside the paths were coming into bloom, and as the flower beds mature, will become an attractive feature of the resort. The resort is very clean, tidy and well maintained. We found ALL the staff to be very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The nearby town of Limenas Hersonisoss is not particularly attractive, but worth a visit ... lots of coast side eating places and tourist shops. The resort has a useful (and very prompt!) free coach service to the town. We enjoyed trips to i) Elouda, Plaka and the island of Spinalogka (last European leper colony closed here in 1957) ii) Lassithi Plateau ... easy walking across it from Tzermiado to the Dikteon Cave (steep climb up to the cave, although you could opt to go up and down by mule!) iii) Lake Votamos and Rouvas Gorge, near Zaros ... a good walk up the gorge on a dried out boulder strewn river bed. The trout filled turquose lake is attractive with a welcome restaurant beside it. iv) Knossis ... well worth the visit, but felt some of the extensive archaeological reconstructions (using concrete!) may not have been too accurate. You can get a guide for 10 euro per person ... but you may have to wait some time to make up the minimum party of 8 speaking the same language to go round. We gave up waiting! v) Nearby villages of Old Hersonisos, Piskopiano and Koutouloufari ... good to wander through the oldy worldy streets. We'd highly recommend Myrtio's restaurant in the village square of Old Hersonisos. Car hire is pretty essential if you wish to see the sites, and driving can be fun in some areas if you like hairpin mountain bends, and narrow village streets! We had a wonderful relaxing week and would recommend the resort extremely highly. Would be very happy to go back if there weren't so many other places to explore! Be aware that this is a timeshare resort (we are owners elsewhere) and your 'designated rep' will be keen for you to attend a presentation. No high pressure sales ... in fact rather a pleasant chat!
Beautiful accomodation but a bit too quiet for us
from Allis0nB
We went to the Village Heights 2 months after it first opened. Accommodation was first class, we had a lovely apartment with everything we needed in it including a dishwasher and safe and a huge balcony with spectacular views down into Hersonissos Bay. The food and drinks were reasonably priced and the shop was well stocked. Lovely infinity pool. Entertainment during the day and in the evening was mostly for the children and we were not fussed for it, it was not of a great standard but the hotel had only been open for 2 months so I guess it will have improved by now. There was a free bus service all day down to Hersonissos which we used a lot to get out and about. We liked Hersonissos and found some great places to eat and some lovely shops.

Just spent 2 weeks at the village heights resort,Hersonissis in crete and had a wonderful time. it might be up in the hills and out of the way but its fantastic, quiet, well mantained and the staff are unbeliveably friendly.A short trip down the hill and your in the old village of piskopiano which has all the charm of old greece and the greek night is a must,a boat trip to spinalonger was also an experience never to forget. so dont listen to all the people who moan about the place,go there yourself and do your own thing and enjoy the delights of crete.
Ok, i must say that i was extremely suprised by this village ! I have 2 kinds two, and everything was fine for both us and our childs ! Except the beds, a bit too hard, but really forgiven, as the room is cleaned every single day, the kitchen allow autonomy, the service is... more
