My self and my Mother decided we wanted a break from the UK and decided to book the Ramada Les Almohades Hotel, with Thomas Cook. I have learnt one thing ‘never judge a book by its cover’ you may look at this hotel outside and think ‘oh god!’ but the inside and... more

We stayed here just before Easter and have had one of the best holiday experiences ever. We are a couple and booked an all inclusive holiday. The service we received was above and beyond what we expected, special mention must go to the reception staff who looked after us on... more

After reading various reviews on various websites I didn't know what to expect, but me and my partner (aged 20 & 22) was prepared to go there with an open mind and make our own minds up. Eating: I would not recommend all-inclusive at this resort, as the food was bland and... more

Warning!!!!!!
Well i have been to morrocco before in agadir ....arrived late morning on the 4th of july, checked in , arrived at our room , bedroom not even cleaned or bed made , patio door broken, and bird poo all over the floor , Food was served cold, the place was a concrete jungle stuck in the 70's.. If your all inc guest, dont expect good service the staff prefer paying guests!!! 4 people had got gastroenteritis , one was so ill he was in bed all holiday apparently , rooms broken into too, this was on our first day !!!! To cut a long story short we got moved to another hotel upon seeng the rep the following day, Please avoid this hotel at all costs ..if you value your health and sanity
Good weather. Disgusting food hygiene !!!
My husband suprised me with a weeks stay here for my 40th birthday, now he says he wont go to Morocco again, because of the bad bar service and mostly the very poor food hygiene. There must have been 80% of holidaymakers this week that were ill, one especially being a 16 year old boy away with his sister for the first time who was ill for 4 days.My husband was ill for one night whilst there, on returning home on friday 29th June he has been severely ill since. The snack bar at the hotel:- your chips are dished up with their hands after preparing salads and cooking burgers. The service at the only night bar is appalling saying they had run out of orange juice, some spirits, etc. then when you complain to the manager suddenly the drinks appear but they are hidden, so only a few know they are available. We ate out a few times and the food outside of the hotel and service is much better. Maybe if we had stayed in a different hotel we would be keen to try Morocco again, but this experience has put us off. I did want to see Marrakesh but it was a 4 hr journey and apparently the hotel overnight stay was not good. We only usually go on holiday for the good weather and relaxation which was better than staying at home. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone mainly because of their very poor food hygiene.
Disappointing
Firstly the reason for given this review the title "Disappointing" yet overall a rating of "Okay" was a holiday is what you make it with what you got. Every holiday has a few issues and I will try and just concentrate on the main ones followed by a few tips. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone that is visiting Agadir go some where else. We read the reviews before departing and the wife wanted to change hotels, I said no because everyone has their own opinion, I should have listened to the wife. Our main concern for this hotel is the food hygiene. It's awful, sorry but from our side it was. Arrived Fri 22 June ill by the Mon. We were lucky we managed ourselves with the appropriate pills and plenty of water. Others had a torrid time being bedded down for a number of days (Chris being one) A 16 year old on his first holiday abroad with his sister, there was plenty of support as he looked so cute bless him, he managed to get jabbed by the doctor. Main resturant doors remained open for most of the day this attracted the local fly population which happily fed themselves on the uncovered salads etc and not long after the salads were soon to wilt in the heat. I reported the fruit juice machine not working and then watched a member of staff place his hands inside to try and get the machine to work, no more juice for me!!! The pool bar area was the worse!! Different staff members handling different types of food all with no gloves or staying within designated areas. Cakes remained on a plate in the open on top of the food counter. Now by the Wed a few people were getting really ill so the complaints went in. Even to the point when someone wanted a meeting with the managers the Rep did not have a good time. Now with all that in mind we actually had a good time, we met some great people went on a few trips the locals are friendly without being over harrassed. Food and service outside the resort is very good with plenty of selection. Tips. Eating out - look for the resturant with the most people and locals a tip from a local. Le Jardin across the road from the hotel was great a two course meal and a drink £12 Trips out - use Rachid out the back gate loves to haggle always a special price it will be cheaper then the Rep. Tipping - small tip 20/30 Dirham, good tip 50 large 100. 100 = £6 Expect to pay hire charge of £18 (300 Dirham) for 2 x beach towels and a one off charge of £10 for the safe in your room. We spent a total of £180 between the pair of us on trips, tips and eating out. Change your money up only when you need it you are not allowed to take it out with you and when you try to change Dirham to Sterling there will be a 40% charge. Finally Agadir is a safe, warm and reasonbly priced town to have a holiday with or without family, just not in the Ramada. Do not expect the same standard as the rest of the chain.
Relaxing and warm
We booked this hotel as it was cheap, we paid less than £250 for a week, flying from Manchester in November. I thought the hotel was really nice, the pool was quiet, the bar was ok and the reception was friendly. All the staff we nice to us. I went with my friend, we are both female and athough in the hotel it was fine, on the beach and in Agadir we were hassled constantly. One guy even walked into the sea to talk to us. We did not go out on a night as it was too scary although at lunch time it was bearable. I have travelled in many places and this is the only one where I did not feel safe on a night. In the hotel the breakfast was great, the evening meals always had something to eat, even if was just chips and bread, it certainly was not worth going out to eat, so we put up with it. Although there was not always alot of choice for us, it was always really tasty and hot and fresh. There was alot of salad and a grilled fish and roast meat evey night. We keep toying with the idea of going back to Agadir as it was so cheap and warm, if we do, we will be staying all inclusive at a different hotel so we do not have to leave. The only real problem with the hotel was that there was a mini souk on the way to the restaurant, and they hassled you a bit.
I can't think of anything positive to say about this hotel.
I've been sitting here trying to think of something positive to say about this hotel and all I can come up with is, many of the staff work hard. The negatives are balanced out by the fact the holiday was a last minute deal so was relatively cheap but I feel sorry for anyone who paid full price. It's the small things that spoil a holiday and this hotel seems to specialise in having many small problem areas. Arrival. This was okay and bearing in mind the rest of the holiday, was remarkably efficient. We got to our room (218), which at first glance was okay; clean with a view of the pool area. It was missing a table and chairs on the patio but we were assured someone would bring them. Of course you've already figured out they didn't despite asking several times and the First Choice rep promising he'd sort it out. Okay, not a major thing but something which was promised when booking and further promised each time we asked. The room turned out to be under the bar, directly under the pool table to be exact. I now know what Chinese Water Torture must be like. Every few seconds another ball would roll down a pocket. Still, again just a small thing as it stopped around 11.30pm/midnight. Meals. Others have commented on the shambles that is called the restaurant. Shambles is too kind a word. An unorganised disaster area is more apt with evening meals being the worst times. Knives, forks, spoons? No, they are being washed. Plates? They are also being washed. Glasses for water or wine? Sorry, they are, you've guessed, being washed. As are the cups and saucers you might reasonably expect to find in or around a restaurant. Find yourself a table? Good luck, you will do eventually but then you have to wait for someone to bring you the aforementioned knives, forks, etc. Please, don't expect a clean napkin, you'll only be disappointed. The food in the restaurant was, as others have said, bland and lukewarm. There is a chef grilling food outside each evening. Don't bother asking what it is, it's fish. It's always fish. Even if it looks like chicken it'll be fish I promise you. The egg chefs are supposed to start cooking at 8.00am each morning and from 7.40am to 7.59am there is much activity around the area they work in. Then they disappear for 10-15 minutes. I don't know where they go or why and neither does anyone else but it does allow time for a nice sized queue to build up. I feel sorry for the restaurant staff who have to bear the brunt of the anger from guests. One other thing. Why is it, in a country, which grows oranges, exports them, they insist on serving the most tasteless, inferior, orange squash? Answers on a postcard please. The pool bar for lunch is the best bet for a relaxed meal, at least the food is cooked to order except for the chips (French fries for American readers) - don't get me started on the chips. Too late, I'm started. Have you ever been in a restaurant where they start cooking the chips at 10.00am for serving around midday? No? Then go here. Our room, as did many others, had cockroaches. Now I'm not bothered by cockroaches nor is my wife. They've been around for millions of years and will be around long after I've gone. You can't get rid of them. The best thing to do is give them names, say good morning to them and then ignore them. Ours were called Colin and Rick so if you're in room 218 say hi from Andy and Sharon. Let me be kind and say the bar staff did their best. It wasn't good enough, but it was their best. Why they felt the need to go and clean the one table with glasses on it while people waited to be served is, as Toyah Wilcox sang many years ago, a mystery. The same with disappearing down some corridor at the back of the bar? They just went. There is a way to get served. At the start of each evening give one of the barmen 20 dirhams (about £1.20) and you will get served far quicker than anyone else. Well worth the money even if it does defeat the all-inclusive concept. The little we saw of the entertainment is best described as amateurish. The animation team did try but unfortunately, rarely succeeded. For some reason many of the young (and not so young) single woman found the entertainment team sexually attractive and for us, this was more fun than any planned entertainment. Spend an evening watching western women who, being charitable, aren't very attractive and could do with losing more than a few pounds, throwing themselves at the young, good looking, Moroccan guys. Believe me, it's great fun. Even more fun is watching them on the last day of their holiday trying to wrench promises of undying love from their conquests. The pool area is clean but as with all these types of hotels is ruined by people 'reserving' sun beds in the early morning and then not using them until late afternoon. The staff took down all the sunshades the day after we arrived. It was never really explained why other than to say they needed to be washed (along with the cups, saucers, knives, forks, spoons and glasses presumably). They put some of them back up two days before we left after my wife had a 'discussion' with the First Choice rep. I did watch a French woman taking her sunshade down at the end of each night and putting it back up again each morning! Very strange behaviour I thought. If you're on all inclusive or half board and you can't face another evening of the chaos that is the main restaurant then walk across the road to (I think) Le Jardine. The food is wonderful, the service excellent and the staff cheerful and polite. About £35.00 for a great meal with wine and coffee for two. All in all, this is a very poor 1 star hotel pretending to a 3 star and not managing the illusion.
disgusted!
Well!! What can I say about this Hotel, dont worry the complaint letter is in the post!! I decided to book this hotel with a friend, we are both females between 27-30. I totally would NOT recommend females going there on there own, more of a family hols or for couples. This hotel is french orientated through & through even down to the evening entertainment. The food was ok to start off with but was the same old thing different day & very bland indeed. We were all inclusive wearing a band but found it very difficult to get a drink they always served the paying customers first so didnt really feel I had moneys worth in the drink department. It got so bad that I had to get a male friend to get my drinks because of the simple fact that I didnt give the waiter any attention so he used to make me wait for ages & sometimes nobody was at the bar!! ok thats maybe a personal thing but nether the less I think its totally wrong! Also there is a photographer there taking pics of you & he can be very persistant....Be carefull because if he does take these pics & you say you want them he will ask for your room number & if you dont collect its on your roombill when you hand key back, we got stung but had a dispute about it & it was waived off but as I walked past the photographer he muttered something in moroccan with a snarl on his face(I can imagine it wasnt a very pleasant remark!!)....Gosh I sound like a right battleaxe but just being honest about this hotel. We just didnt feel comfortable throughout our stay.make sure you have plenty of spare change to tip!!!!
loved the buggy day out!!
Morocco is an up and coming place,a lot of building work going on in parts of the beach but will be great when finished! The weather could'nt have been better for us 40'c most days. We only went on 1 trip which was on the buggies which is probably the best i have experienced ever abroad, well worth trying out! The hotel was great! The food was great aswell considering the reviews i heard from others before i went there. The only problems we had was if you went all inclusive you had to pay for drinks after 11pm and the day we left at 1pm they told us we had to pay for our dinner because we vacated our rooms at 12 noon! We were annoyed at this because we payed for 7 nights and really only got 6 days of food!We took this argument up with the reception staff and they were very unhelpful and did'nt care one bit! But overall we would visit Morocco again but not for at least a couple of years!!
Great [but simple] hotel
As a summary: The Ramada is a 3* hotel but not necessarily up to our 3* standard in northern Europe. However, we found that the rooms were at a good size [bigger than in London and Paris, for example] and clean. The reception and cleaning staff were polite though being able to speak French would have been a huge help for us. The hotel garden/pool area was wonderful and well kept and with less than 5 min walk to the beach, this is a great spot to stay at. However, AVOID their half board or all inclusive - the food is truly horrible!! [See below] Some pros and cons for you that are thinking about going there: Pros: => Hotel: great location to beach and restaurants, pool/garden area, good size rooms that were clean, breakfast and no construction by the hotel [except from the beach which you heard now and then.] => Agadir: lots of great restaurants, soon to be fantastic beach [once all the construction has been completed], the weather, good deals to be made/found and friendly people. => I recommend going to other places outside Agadir. There is so much to see and do and once you leave Agadir, you will find a wealth of culture and amazing sights! Cons: Hotel: => The food… We have never had such bad food in our whole life!! We had half board but after eating at the restaurant one evening, we HAD to go elsewhere!! The breakfast was ok so opt for that option but do AVOID half board or all inclusive as the food is very bland, boring & tasteless! And, the restaurant was like sitting in a school or work canteen… => Staff… Some of them were wonderful and bent backwards to help us, the others were semi-friendly and definitely spent more time with the French speaking guests. => Pool area gets filled up very fast with not enough chairs. (Note to all of you reserving tons of chairs and then not showing up for hours: RUDE!! ) Agadir: => Haggling is a way of life in Morocco so be sure you negotiate the prices as you otherwise will be ripped off. (Though I had fun haggling and got some great things at good prices.) => Agadir is very touristy and has been built up/is being built up within the last 40 years so don’t expect to see much typical Moroccan architecture => After talking with women going down there in groups, apparently the men are very ‘persistent’ and they were happy to go back home => A lot of construction => A huge percent of the people we talked to at the airport had gotten very sick/bad stomachs so be careful what you eat – food poisoning seem to be very common down there!! [The people that had gotten sick for many days had had the ice cream, just so you know.] Hope this review has helped!
Loved every second
I went on holiday for a weeks all inclusive with my boyfriend (we are 22 and 27 years old). The intention of our holiday was purely to chill by the pool with the sun and do not much else! For that purpose I have marked this holiday as five stars as it served the exact purpose we wanted! I'll try and explain below more specifics of the holiday: Room Our room was 448 and this was a double, not sure if this was due to e-mailing the hotel prior to departure asking to be put in a double bed rather rather two singles but it was great. We were located at the end of a corridor so there was no noise and we were on the top floor. The view was of the min golf and the gardens which was nice. The bed as I said was double and this was a big double! The bathroom was lovely, although the shower only just reached up to the hook on the wall. The room was cleaned daily and I have to say the maid was slightly crazy! She would often jump out on us whilst she was cleaning other rooms to scare us and I think she had a thing for my boyfriend as all she would say to him all the time was "ha-be-be" which means "I love you" ! She was always pleasant though, as were all the other maids we came across. Pool Although there was a no reserve policy on the sun beds nobody actually took any notice I have to say. We took our towels down as we were going to breakfast at around 9am and we always got the seats that we wanted. There were more than enough beds to go around, even the ones under the parasols. Although in the holiday brochure it stated that mattresses would payable locally they were free for the duration of our stay. There was the daily water areobics that was often well joined in, although other activites such as water polo never really got off the ground! the pool was great overall although my boyfriend and I found that the only way to get in was to dive or jump as it was qiute cold o attempt to walk in! Once we swam around a bit though it soon warmed up. It was a very deep pool in places - going up to 4 metres in the circular bit off the main pool. Beach Can't really comment much as we didnt actually spend any time there. We walked over once so we could say we'd been!! We went down on a Sunday and I think thats when the local kids must have their footie training as the beach was full of kids playing. There were no actual beds and parasols where we looked, apart from the cordened off area of a neighbouring hotel. There was a lot of building work going on on the beach which would be an eyesaw if you spent the day down there but it didnt bother us. Food As said before we were all inclusive. For this reason I didnt expect grand food all the time! That said I really enjoyed every meal that we had at the buffet. We were disappointed to read on the signs that the Morrocan and the Grill were payable locally but on further inspection of the signs there are specific nights where all inclusives customers could dine for free! I dont think many people noticed this small print on the sign as there wasnt alot of people eating in there when we went. I have to say I would have been disappointed to have paid at both of these restuarants. We went in thinking that if we didnt enjoy the food we would go to the buffet but once you were in they dragged out the serving for the whole 2 and half hours so when it was finished the buffet was closed!! The food was basically what was in the buffet the couple of days before! That said though it was nice to have food served at the table and to be able to sit in a nice quiet corner. Waiters I did notice that the waiters were much more friendly to the people who were paying and not wearing the all inclusive wrist bands. An example of this was that my boyfriend and I sat at a table meant for 5, whilst we went for our food the waiter moved our drinks and my bag to another table only for him to then sit a couple on that very same table who were paying! That was the only niggle that we noticed, as the waiters in general were very friendly and attentive. Bar We had to sign for all of our drinks which wasn't really a problem as they were quite quick but the waiters were wary of giving us more than two drinks. We liked to take the drinks back to the room and sit on the balcony, we got away with it twice though! The bar was nice and there was entertainment every night. The highlight was definately the snake charmer! He got a great response from the guests! We didnt stay in the bar for any of the other nights as it wasn;t really our cup of tea. We found that sitting on the balcony listening to the music from the bar nice. Although this noise wasn't loud once we were in the room. I hope that this review is informative. I would definately recommend the hotel if a holiday just by the pool with the sun was all you wanted. I have to say that all inclusive is a must too - if only for the drinks. We worked out that in two days and nights we would have spent about £120 alone on drinks! We definately would have spent above and beyond the price of our holiday alone on drinks and food!
Service by staff was Brill and beautiful garden
When i walked in to the hotel at first it wasn't one of those places u instanly think oh my god this is Lovely. i am sure it was once upon a time! the decor is "i would say" Very eighties but CLEAN at time i wondered if the cleaners could see something i couldn't see. The hotel staf were very helpfull in fact the most helpful people i had ever come across. The waiters english was good but night staff reception english was not so good. The food was really nice EVERY NIGHT, the pancakes where my weekness for break fast. At dinner they normally had something on the lines of Past, Rice, Cuscus, curried potatoes a traditional morocan stew (chicken/ beef/lamb) and cut of the bone turkey, gamon, Beef, Fish also had a wide range of salads and a grill out side. I would say you didn't need to go all inclusive HB was enough as breakfast holds you though to dinner and it is cheap to eat out of the hotel anyway. There is free intenet there but only 2 computers so that is a bit of a bummer as someone is alwas on there. (i did manager to get on there 3 or 4 times) There is a beauty centre there which is quiet busy. I got a pedicure but i must say i was not impressed at all it was the worst i have had and the lady doesn't speak english AT ALL it cost me about £16 but i would have rather added another tenner and got it done in england. By the way the is a Bar called Jockey Bar near the ENGLISH BAR if you are young the music is great there you must go i found it on my last night.
