Apartamentos Las Rosas de Capistrano Reviews
" Fabulous Las Rosa! "

We were very pleased with the location of the Rosa apartments, a short easy 25min walk into the lovely nearby Nerja and a 20 min walk to the sandy long beach of Burricana beach. The apartments were well equiped and comfortable, we had a one bed (mattress was new and really comfty) with a large comfortable sofa bed for the children to sleep on which was adequate. The rooms are not air conditioned and get very hot in the evening to sleep in. There seems to be fans in the rooms that get passed on from each customer when they leave, these were a godsend and we managed to get our hands on 3, although because each person passes them on I dont believe that they ever get handed back to reception for hire. The view from the balcony over the pool and overlooking the football stadium wasnt bad either. I have never had such a well equiped kitchen, although we bought a bbq as soon as we got there and cooked on the balcony some nights, no complaints from anyone. The bar next to the pool was open only in the evenings from approx 5pm to 5am somenights. It wasnt noisey and was run by a Morrocan man named Hussarnie (known I've spelt that wrong)! He cooked the best Paella we had EVER had and also a Lamb Tagine dish on the fire for 3 hrs, which was delicious. He was really great with the kids and friendly with the customers, although slow delivering drinks and food, but whos in a hurry on holiday?? The room only got clean towels and bed sheets once every 6-7 days and the maids never came in and cleaned the room in the 21days we were there, only to leave the towels and make the beds so dont expect the floors etc to be washed because they wont be, hence why you get a mop and broom supplied to DIY! Theres even a free to use washing machine and tumble dryer in the communal toilet for customers to use. Theres a huge supermarket downstairs which is open from 9am-9pm every day apart from sunday. Also theres a tuesday market nearby and a great boot sale on sundays worth a visit. If you go to Burricana beach you must book a Kayake trip from the adventure centre, you get to paddle your Kayake along the coastline and snorkel and swim for 3hrs its great! As are the caves. The nearby waterpark at Torrox del Mar isnt great but ok for the kids, dont expect super slides though its pretty basic. We have a great time there and would recommend these apartments to anyone, small friendly and you always manage to get a sunbed by the pool, no towels on beds etc.
Advice: Quiet location, nice views, well equiped kitchen with easy access to beaches and towns
Activities: The caves and Hussarnies Paella and Lamb Tagine

" Great place but a few issues "

Have just returned from a four day break in a two bedroomed apartment. The apartment was clean and well equipped with nice pine furniture. The beds are very comfortable. The balcony was massive! (in fact there were two because the second bedroom was upstairs with its own balcony and ensuite bathroom)One downside was no door at the top of the stairs so the person sleeping upstairs was disturbed if the TV was on or people were talking downstairs.
The kitchenette was much better equipped than most with a halogen hob and efficient oven, also a microwave, plug in kettle, a blender and coffee maker (but only two power points for all these gadgets, with one over the hob)
The TV had BBC 1 and BBC 2 which was unusual and welcome.
The apartment block itself was an attractive building with tiered balconies. No car park but plenty of parking nearby. The gardens were colourful and well cared for, while the pool area (which we had to ourselves at this time of year) was lovely. Could get crowded in high season I would imagine. Of course the pool was cold, but I did take the plunge once and I've experienced colder!
It was difficult to find because the Spanish aren't into street name plates. Fortunately there is a sign pointing towards it off a roundabout just across the road from the hotel, but it calls it Las Rosas de Nerja (Capistrano doesn't appear on the sign over the hotel either so you wonder if it's the wrong place). Reception was closed when we arrived, but a card in the notice board told us to collect keys from the hotel.
That worked out okay, but the lobby outside our apartment was unlit so it was hard to see to unlock it and the key was tricky to use.
In the evening and morning a bit of heating would have been welcome - it got quite chilly.
I would imagine with only one plug in fan and no A/C the opposite would be true in the summer.
Overall we were very pleased with it for a Spring break, and the price was very reasonable.
Nerja itself is a lovely, unspoilt town, very much more Spanish than other Costa del Sol resorts. There are no high rise hotels, and the whole town is built on hills and cliffs and the different levels make for spectacular views. Well worth visiting again for longer.
The beach is not the best, being shingle and sand, and quite a dark colour, but clean enough. But the whole area is lovely and makes up for this.

" I booked this as we wanted a late... "
Submitted By: Mrs L Auty
I booked this as we wanted a late deal to Nerja, i looked on the internet and not many reviews for these apartments which i didn't think was a good sign. The one review i read stated they didn't like it and best thing about their stay was a fish and chip restaurant near the apartments! that put me off straigt away - who goes on holiday to eat fish & chips?!?!?!?
We picked up our car from malaga and found the accomodation easily - it is in between Nerja & Capistrano and right opposite a big hotel called Club Nerja (which you can use all their facilities). The accomodation is basic but clean and new, we had a beautiful view of the pool and mountains - the private terrace was gated which was great as we have two small children! One thing this accomodation has going for it is the sofa bed was really comfy!
The only downfall was we did not have a change of towels while we were there and they were a little bit thread bare but did that spoil my holiday? NO!
Nerja is a stunning place, with beautiful restaurants - one word of warning though you definately need a car!
Hope this helps!

" This was our second visit to Nerja,... "
Submitted By: Mr R Seaward
This was our second visit to Nerja, we had enjoyed Nerja the previous year when we visited for our wedding anniversary, then staying in the Tropicana area of Nerja which was a quiet residential area with some bars & restaurants but it was a little bit too far out of town. So on our second visit we booked our flights and accommodation online with a hotel booking service.
The apartment we were in was big, bright and airy, that is the only good point! We found again these apartments were too far away from the main town, I would recommend a car. We were there a week and our apartment was not cleaned, we did have our towels changed, "the towels" I wouldn't even use to bath my dog. We found the pool area was not kept clean and on one occasion we were there the pool started to turn green. There are a couple of bars & restaurants nearby
The Bullring Fish & Chip Bar is worth a visit, very good fish & chips. Most of the time we went into the town by taxi which only costs 5euros and there are some excellent restaurants. The Burriana beach is within walking distance but beware of the very steep hill walking back, so best to use a taxi. We will return to Nerja but will try to get accommodation nearer to town and of a cleaner standard!

Eating out
Around the hotel there are a few bars which also serve food. The Sportmans Bar will appeal to football fans and they also do fish and chips and Sunday Roasts if required. This bar was recomended by some local pats that we met in town. There is also another bar which serves eat in or take away roast chicken which was delicious. The Nerja Club hotel across from the apartments service snack meals and also a delicious buffet for 12 euros a head. Lots of choice and friendly service. In town there are many restaurants and bars to choose from particularly in the old part of town which is busy in the evenings.
All in all we had a fantastic holiday and would thoroughly recomend the apartments and Nerja.
