Amerigo Hotel

This hotel is the best in the town, hands down. The location is great, the food there is fabulous and the staff just absolutely fantastic! The rooms definitely were a treat. We had one that faced the marina so u could see all the way to the water. It wasnt a complete view but still good. At night its pretty lively in Alicante and all you need to do is walk downstairs and the action is there. Stayed here for 6 nights mid august 07. The hotel is lovely looking, old yet modern, right next to the old town, and 2 streets back from the beach. The room was very spacious, the dvd was a great idea.... nice to relax for 1/2 hour of "Still Game " (which we took) when you come in from the pool! Mini bar stocked daily, 6 mini bottles of juice and some water. Toiletries sweet, but no conditioner. Bath robes, slippers etc. Air conditioning so good, we were sometimes cold at night. Alicante, in my opinion is a city to leave off your tour in spain. This hotel, although not terrible, doesnt fit the bill of its 5 star rating. I would give it 3.5 stars. Room was terrible for a five star and not bad if it was a 3 star. Although, the staff was great and the lobby and pool on the roof was quite nice, it was still a bit dissapointing.

Have been to Alicante twice before, staying at the Melia Alicante both times. For this 3 night stay we decided to go for the Amerigo, as it looked great on the website. It certainly did not disappoint. Fabulous hotel, attractive building, stylish interior, marvellous room, and spot on location. I simply cannot rate this hotel highly enough. We arrived from 5 days in Barcelona to spend our next 5 in Alicante. I was quite apprehensive given how difficult it had been to locate decent information about the area. None of my Spain books contained more than a paragraph or two. We were looking forward to our stay in Alicante having had a few days walking in the mountains. We'd never been to the city before and it was wonderful - reminded us of Barcelona but on a smaller scale. The Amerigo was spot on - we had a large room which was worth every penny. It's a beautiful building - a true 'boutique' hotel - but what will probably stand out was the friendliness of the staff. Can't really fault it.

Recently returned from staying at the Amerigo, a first class hotel, well deserving of it's 5 star rating. Once you step into the lobby you begin to feel a sense of calm that the hotel is aspiring to instill. It's uber-chic cool and the staff were warm and welcoming, attentive and professional. I stayed in the Hospes Amerigo for 5 nights on a business trip and I really thought it was a charming hotel. The service is great, people are friendly, had a dinner in the restaurant where the food was fantastic. The Rooms are comfortable, simply decorated. You get a lot of options included in your stay. They offer you a list of DVDs you can view at night in your bedroom, charge free and juices and water from the minibar, charge free. Alcohol is of course not free. Stayed in this lovely hotel over the Easter period. Beaufully furnished, staff very friendly and couldn't do enough to help you. Nice little touches like soft bathrobes and slippers and lovely shampoos, soaps etc. Ate in both the hotel's tapas bar and restaurant. The restaurant Senzone serves fantastic food a little bit on the expensive side but def. worth every penny. Can't fault the hotel in any way. Stayed here in mid-April for two nights and had an excellent stay. The rooms are well-designed, very comfortable, and fully equipped - included nice small touches like flat screen tv, dvd player and free mini-bar. The staff is very helpful and friendly.
