For our 7 year anniversary, my awesome husband took me to Jamaica. We stayed at Sandals Montego Bay in a Bay Roc Ultra Luxury Honeymoon Beachfront Villa. This particular room included Butler service.
Room Location & Butlers
Our room was located at the far end of the property. It was nice and quiet, which was exactly what we were looking for. We were assigned two butlers (Andrea and Mykal) from 7am until 10pm every day and we were given a cell phone in order to contact our butlers for any of our wants or needs. Andrea and Mykal were phenomenal and went above and beyond to make our vacation memorable.
For example, on the first night, I wrote out a list of spa services and tours that we would like to do on each day of our vacation. Mykal saw my list the next morning and started setting up all the listed items. I was floored by his attention to detail and his anticipation of our needs. It is the little things like this that will keep us returning to Sandals Montego Bay time and time again.
Every night, Andrea or Mykal would make a towel animal or write a note out of flowers on our bed. It was exciting to see what they would come up with next.
Restaurants
We ate at the following restaurants and loved every one of them: The Oleander Room, Cucina Romana, Tokyo Joe's, The Bayside Restaurant, The Cricketer's Pub, Royal Thai (Sandals Royal Caribbean), and Le Jardinier (Sandals Royal Caribbean). Each night, our butler would set up a special table for us in the best location at each restaurant and would place flowers on our table. The food was incredible at each location. We could tell that the chefs take great pride in their cooking and attention to detail.
Spa Services
Each day, we took time to go to the spa. After our first experience, the spa personnel knew us the minute we walked in. The personnel made us feel like we were the only people that mattered and prepared tea or water for us upon our arrival. Each experience was incredible and each massage therapist was extremely skilled at the technique they were performing.
Resort Appearance
Sandals takes great pride in the look of their resort. The beach was raked each night and the entire resort was impeccable in appearance.
Tours/Excursions
We went on a shopping tour of Montego Bay with a guide from the hotel. This was a good experience and a great way to see Mobay.
Our next tour was to Sandals Negril and to The Sands & The Caves to see the cliff diver and the sunset. Our tour guide was informative and the views were breathtaking.
We hired a private driver (Yogi) for the day. He took us to Appleton Rum Estate, Y.S. Falls and the Black River Safari. In addition to driving, he told us the history of each area we were passing through. We would totally advise anyone to do this.
The last day, we went on a canopy tour. What an incredible experience! The views were unmatched and it was a great bonding time.

My husband had quite a bad car crash just before Christmas and I had booked this special sandals holiday for the two of us for a Christmas day present, a few weeks previous to his accident, so it felt more special to us because he had lived through this even though the doctor, had advised us to delay the holiday, we carried on.
As soon as we turned the corner to the hotel I felt like crying.
The beach was the tiniest and full of locals some were urinating on the beach, I did not see any holiday makers on the beach, the noise from the locals was unbearable night and day right into the early hours, they also sit outside calling you to buy cannabis or any thing else you fancy!
The next day we spoke to a Canadian couple who had tried very hard to get a move, but they told them everywhere was full, they were not happy either!
There are cars going up and down outside the hotel all day and into the early hours, honking and shouting the noise was awful.
We had quite a lot of rain so I went to the fully equipped gym ha ha! One piece of cardio worked, I complained they, told me it would be sorted out, it was not in fact the whole thing wants sorting out!
The breakfast there is quite good, as long as you don’t mind sharing with the armed police, which are there for every meal time, there must be a reason for this. The evening meal is ok but don’t do the Carlyle it is awful!! Cold being the worst.
After this we went to other Sandals at Montego Bay, which was a bit better only just!
But at Montego Bay the next day I was swimming in the sea in front of the hotel when you notice these little boats, and they call you to try and sell you cannabis/whisky/etc
so you cannot even swim in peace.
At the other resort called the royal, we were approached on the beach (observed by Sandals security) by four sellers did we want cannabis, it really is too much I for one do not do drugs and to keep getting hassled in sandals hotel and while you are swimming in the sea on sandals private land is just too much!! If you like cannabis you will be in heaven!
The one good thing I will say for Sandals Inn the staff there are lovely,
Be wary when walking up to the strip, they wait for you there as well, it is fine in the day but I would not go at night! Unless there are a lot of you.
If you do go to Sandals Inn I would look at the 3d video. I did not know about this until I got back home, unfortunately, we did complain but all we were offered was 3 days free Sandals holiday without flights! So we cant do much with that.
Also we went to Dunns River Falls which was brilliant well worth the visit.

Our holiday in Montego Bay was absolutely wonderful, the Sandals’ accommodation was top class; open terraces, fruit trees, the cleaning ladies would leave fresh hand picked flower heads on your bed and in the bathroom.

There were five bars, one being a piano bar were everyone would sing along, all facilities were included in our holiday- snorkelling, scuba diving, sailing and lots more. The staff were very very nice friendly pleasant people. Their motto – “no problem”!

The local people are also very nice, there was a free shuttle bus to take you to the other two Sandals hotels these ran every twenty mins and also various excursions (excluded from package). Sandals Montego bay has its own private beach which was gleaming white sand and the ocean was crystal clear like stepping into a warm bath! The food was amazing something for everyone’s taste.

Best holiday ever. From day one it was superb. Friendly staff that were so polite it was amazing! Everything you could hope for and more, a dream come true. The scuba diving and water sports are excellent and also the food and drinks, the rooms have sky TV, tea coffee and the room maid always added a little touch of their own which I won’t tell you about as it will give the game away. Lots of different cultures here but mostly from the USA. These yanks are both funny and polite to all but it makes it even better that you can have a sing song round the piano bar at 2:00 in the morning and nobody says boo to a goose as everyone is on the same wave length as you. The reps are great as the cannot do enough for you especially Donovan and Tony at the water sports. Thank you Jamaica it was a pleasure!

I felt that the all inclusive option was superb with regards to sandals the do what they say on the tin!!
With regards to Monarch who we flew with that’s another story cramped seating not at all accommodating staff.
The transfers to and from sandals also left a lot to be desired.
In hindsight i.e. to sum up always check the airline and transfers. Apart from that Sandals a good value holiday.

Check in was both quick and easy with no complications at all, to be honest the staff could not do enough for us. We were personally escorted to our room, which was Water’s Edge Honeymoon Penthouse Concierge Room, WOW!!! Waiting for us was a chilled bottle of Champagne for us to keep the day going as hoped. The room was stunning, with a 4 poster bed as the centre piece, which was beautifully dressed in Caribbean designs. From the balcony we had a fantastic view of the Caribbean Sea, it was breathtaking with the sun shimmering through the palm trees the setting was just perfect.
After relaxing by the pool before dinner, we participated in some pre dinner drinks before heading to the Oleander room for dinner, the setting was romantic but classy in an intimate table for 2, and the food was to die for, with a selection of meats and fish, the sword fish and lamb was scrumptious not to mention the champagne that washed it down! This restaurant was our favorite by far and entertained us a few evenings during our stay, although there were 6 other restaurants to sample too, including the Bayside Restaurant, which serves a selection of international dishes, and the Cucina Romana, were the pasta was fabulous. On our last evening we took the opportunity to go to Sandals Royal Caribbean, as the hotel offers free transfers to there and also to the Sandals Inn, we dined outside under the stars, the perfect setting for any couple. Well worth the visit!
Our favorite evening entertainment had to be the Jamaican Experience, the band were fantastic and really go into the spirit of things, the atmosphere was brilliant, and when the music stopped we headed to the Cricket Pub, for our late night snack of burger and chips, very healthy! Not, but tasty.
The whole experience of Sandals really was one to remember and we would have absolutely no hesitation at all in returning again, the staff made the whole thing a trip to remember and we in the UK could learn a few things about hospitality and how to treat guests as they certainly made it a trip special.
