Lots of reviews on Lindos Pines and...

May 2004, Ms L.J. Whitfield

Lots of reviews on Lindos Pines and the famous Barbara so I would like to add my comments.
We went last year and generally had a good time. On our first visit to the supermarket, the English owner asked where I was staying and said 'oh dear Fawlty Towers'. That didn’t help! The breakfasts were awful and Sophie was rude, she also got angry if you asked for another roll or cup of tea.
In my misguided enthusiasm I did pre pay for what we were told was a barbeque. What we got was school dinners. The food was not barbequed at all, it came out of the kitchen and we had to hand Barbara a ticket and she gave us a plate with really awful food on it. Barbara has a really gruff voice and my son was forever impersonating her, with 'hello darlinks'. She was forever on the tannoy with various offers but you soon learn not to take them up as they were not as promised.
The pool was good though. Pefkos was lovely as was the beach. The hillside walk to and from the hotel was not as bad as some have said. The rooms were basic but fine and similar to a lot of Greek hotels.
We would actually go back there. I would take a kettle though to make sure I can have tea and coffee in my room, but I wouldn’t tell Barbara!

Only just got on the internet but we went to Lindos Pines in June 2002. We had a fab time. Barbara may be a bit eccentric but she made our holiday. She organises lots of thing at her hotel which makes the evenings great. The room were small but clean and we had a lovely one overlooking the pool. We were abit disappointed with the breakfast but hey what the hell. We were not too impressed with the local beach and it was a bit of a trek. Met some lovely friends there and on the whole it was a great 2 weeks. PS. we got engaged whilst we were there and are now married

I’ve been reading reviews of Lindos Pines and I can say that it was alright when me and my girlfriend went there but Barbara is a pain, we had to sneak around the back of the hotel to go out in the nights because she would try to make you stay there. But she was very nice if we needed a taxi she would always phone one for us if you needed any info she would help out.
Pefkos is a lovely place & so is Lindos. My girlfriend & I would go there again but we wont be staying in Lindos Pines. The cats are all over the place, not just in the hotel.
If you are looking for a lively place to go, go to Lindos Pines. This is only a two star hotel but its more like a three star, I was there for two weeks and I never heard of one complaint. If your going to go to Lindos Pines just don’t spend any time inside the complex go to Pefkos and nearby Lindos.

These comments are from our holiday...

Sep 2000, Mr P Pownall

These comments are from our holiday at Lindon Pines in September 2000. Nothing seems to have changed much!
Well, Basil and Sybil are alive and well and running this hotel but in reserve order.
Basil is in the form of Barbara who hypes up Lindos Pines to be the best hotel in Pefkos and provides to best and cheapest food and drink in town. Don’t believe a word of it. Although the drinks may be the cheapest, this is the first place outside the UK I have seen spirits being measured before being poured into a glass; and they are by no means generous measures. When we ate there, which was not very often, the food was quite good but not well presented. The hotel itself has so much potential but has become somewhat rundown and if the right sort of money was spent in the right places, it would be an excellent place for a holiday. We had no complaints about our room. It was kept clean although the weather was constantly very hot and the fan we hired did not help a great deal. In this spot on Rhodes, the rooms really need air conditioning. The pool was not cleaned of debris often enough and the poolside was never cleaned at all. It was constantly dirty with dog ends and other litter left for days. The area around the outside restaurant is like a small village square and again has a lot of potential. However, this too was not kept as clean as it should have been and the owners' collie dog was often seen asleep on the floor of the kitchen area. All around the hotel is a lot of vegetation, but it is not maintained so has become in many places unsightly. It also attracts the usual insects particularly mosquitoes which my wife found out to her great cost. The reps will tell you to walk to the main part of Pefkos, you turn right out of the hotel, up the hill and turn left and walk five minutes along the road. - Don’t! - Turn left out of the hotel and the narrow road will take you to Pefkos with a less incline. This road will also take you past two other hotels where you can use the much cleaner pools and sample the excellent food. We would in the future, return to Pefkos However, it would not be to Lindos .
