This was our first family holiday (myself, the wife and the kids (1 1/2 & 4 1/2)). The three hour journey from the airport wasn’t the greatest. All of the Turkish people we met (including the hotel staff & shop workers) were very hospitable and welcoming - not a... more

We went to turkey last year and had a brilliant time! Its making me really angry how people complain about the food drink etc! You can’t expect to go to a different country and eat English food! They have their own ways over there and people should respect that! The food... more

This hotel looked wonderful when we arrived. Although when we arrived we had to drop our bags and run to the restaurant because it was closing in 15 minutes. We were all asked to wear blue bands (for identification if we ventured on the beach and were allowed free loungers... more

the pits they call a hotel
i was apalled by the food in the hotel.everything was cold all you had was pasta with source pasta without lunch time and evening time.all my family were ill.i had to have the doctor in to my daughter who was very ill .she had two injections.also at one point somebody had a turd in the swimming pool.so hygene was not very important as i can see to the staff.the rep for sunset was about as much use as a chocolate watch. the A/C was on timers so the heat was overpowering.everything at this place was a joke. The only good thing about it was the cleaners were really nice and very friendly so were the guys on the reception. The manager though was a miserable rat.I would recommend families with young kids dont go there it is better to be safe than sorry.
Very disappointing
I read the reviews before I went to Alanya and I was nervous about what I would find. Actually the hotel was OK. The staff were quite rude but they just seemed to favour the Germans. The food, cleanliness and drinks measures did get a lot better over the two weeks of our stay, and we had great fun around the pool with interesting people that we met. The greatest disappointment was the evening entertainment. Nothing! A fashion show of leather jackets, encouraging you to spend money, and an old guy on a key board once a week! I have a young daughter and there was no dancing/games at all for her. The days were fine but the evenings poor. Make sure you take mosquito repellent. Plug in for the room and plenty of cream/lotion for yourself. A lot of people were badly caught out. I had a good holiday because I made myself, and there are loads of things to try and places to go, sadly the hotel was only OK!
The worst hotel ever.
Alanya itself was a lovely place, but the hotel was disgusting. The food was disgusting, hot food was cold, cold food was warm.Leftover food was used at the next mealtimes. We were constantly on the toilet with bad diarrhoea. The drinks were 1/2 measures, the beer was 1/2 beer 1/2 froth. The 7 up and other soft drinks were 1/2 filled with tap water, which we saw for ourselves. The bar staff were extremly rude, they were in the middle of serving us a drink when a german ask for a drink.....they served them before they finished off serving us.The air-con was set on timer so by the time you finally fell asleep you would wake up in a ball of sweat at 3 am when it went off.The only thing positive about this place was the cleaners were pleasant.
Holidays from hell would have a field day!
After a week of returning back to the U.K most of our family still has a bug which we believe to be from this hotel's food. Out of the 150 brits staying at the resort 70 of which have had there holiday ruined by this bug. In the first night of arriving at the hotel we discovered that there had been four burglaries. In the morning we went to breakfast and we discovered a small selection of bland food that was followed in the rest of the 2 weeks. As if this wasn't enough we then couldn't end our hunger because food and beverages weren't allowed to be consumed in the small and basic rooms, which in my opinion were definitly not up to 3 star ratings! This is NOT a family resort as there is no entertainment what so ever for the children or adults at all.
This hotel made hell seem like somewhere to look forward to
After arriving very late (0400)and very tired we went straight to our beds,to be awakened by our 2 daughters informing us that someone had been in the room whilst they slept, and had stolen all their money. Not only were the rooms not secure (could not be locked from inside),staff were very uncaring regarding our predicament, they showed no concern for the safety of our daughters. Also we were not the only family to have their room broken into and valuables taken. Athough the rooms were basic, they were clean. The food was bland and repetative. The drinks were limited by choice and measures were by the thimbleful. Staff were forbidden to speak or smile to guests(we were told this by staff) Air con. was preset and limited as to when it came on(at times when least required, and off when most needed. If you rerquired water throughout the night ,extortionate prices were asked for from the mini-bar,and were forbidden to bring in water bought from supermarket(I think water is a nessecity not a luxury!) Entertainment ? we are still waiting for some! Recommend strongly to steer well clear of this hotel.
Turkey
The hotel was clean although the rooms were small and basic, especially as there were 3 adults and 1 teenager in our room. The hotel staff were less than friendly, sometimes even miserable and we were under the impression that when the big boss man (we called him the indian chief) was about they were not allowed to make conversation with the guests, although the chief , when not keeping an eye on the staff was friendly enough. We found the food really good with plenty of choice but the drinks came in very small measures and you had to finish the one you had before you could have another. (meaning you could not make your drink into a double you had to have the mix they gave you, little vodka and very large coke.) There were a lot of mosquitos but to be fair to the hotel there were nets on all our windows and balcony doors, we sill all came home with a few bites each but there were others that got bitten a lot worse. There was limited entertainment at night but when there was something on we joined in and enjoyed it and we spent most of our fortnight there having a great laugh round the pool and in the bar with some fantastic people that we met from all over England. Can't see ourselves going to Turkey again although parts of Alanya were beautiful with plenty of tourist attractions. On the whole we made the most of our holiday and as we were full board plus we didnt have to spend loads and the holiday itself was a bargain so we've saved plenty towards our next one.
Never Again!
Artemis Hotel was terrible! which is a great shame as the staff are friendly and clearly work long shifts! starting with the biggest problem the food!! it was so bad, chicken every day in some form with chips!! when you ask for drinks they only ever fill the glass half way so your constantly getting re fills , and the waiters hang around waiting for a chance to snap up your plates!!, the rooms were small , they had AC but this switched of when you fell asleep (1.30am) very clever! mosquitoes always always found a way in and if you have a shower be quick as the water turned orange after 5 minutes, in terms of entertainment the looks on peoples faces eating the hotel food was all there was! o yea forget a leather fashion show, just spend little time in the hotel and go self caturing then your be ok, or just go to one of the other hotels, which there must been thousands of in Alanya
mosquitoes had the best food
Just back from this hotel. The staff are friendly and work hard, but the standard of food was terrible. Not only was it disgusting but they kept running out off it in the evening. A treat was chips and chicken wings(plain, battered, breadcrumbed). What you didn't eat for breakfast, was served for lunch in a sauce including the fried eggs. The left over bread was served the next day as French toast. There are some good restaurant including the Fox's Den which is owned by an irish guy so no frozen chips their. But as soon as the local restaurant owners see your blue A.I. band they shout "artemis Princess you must be hungray come into my restaurant and we will feed you!!" No evening entertainment except 2 leather shows and a guy singing one night. Mosquitoes eat better than the guests, lots of repellent. Also be careful of the trips organised by the reps within the hotel, our sightseeing trip that cost £80 2ad+2ch also included a 2 hour hard sell at a remote carpet factory.
Great time
Went out there atfer reading the reviews expecting to have a bad time...as soon as we got there we got in with a great family and a mad welsh guy wearing green speedo`s which made our holiday......The rooms were basic but very clean, the staff were friendly and the food was ok although not a great choice for children but loads of places close by to eat out.....Angels bar(1 minute across the road) served excellent food and the staff were great although Mr Love can be very ittitating(look out for Elvis and charlie they are wicked)a little further down you can pick up Kababs from as little as 80p........The only down side to this holiday was the mosquito`s loads of repelant and a plug in for the room are needed.
Don't bother
Don't stay in the main block where reception is, all the rooms are dirty, small, the windows and doors onto the paint flaked balcony don't fit, or open and if you do get them open, you'll not shut them. Don't look forward to a meal if you arrive at night, unless you like cold boiled eggs, stale bread, cheese spread and a marmalade portion. after the 1st night we requested a move to the newer block which was alot better, and are the rooms they feature in the brochure. Food was boring chips n salad, chips n cold pizza, chips n whatever. AND you've to walk up to the roof for the restaurant which is not good when the lifts aren't working half the time. The bar staff are miserable and rude. Althought there AI we dined out frequently. Entertainment non existent unless you like the naff leather jacket show. Nice smell of drains around thehotel and lots of building sites around. Would not dare to go again!
