worst hotel

Aug 2010, Jin

We went to turkey in Aug 2010. I would not Recommend this hotel to any british holiday makers as it's geared for germans and russians nothing for children to do no entertainment staff very rude, no manners. clean your room bur not change sheets the showers flood you have to use all the towels then they don't like to give more towels. u watched all the time round the pool in the restaurant.the security man ans receptionist are the worst people you meet. Generally it states 4 star but i would not even give it 1 star. read reviews before booking they are so true.

worst holiday ever in my life

I went to turkey last week and stayed at the this hotal and i was disgusted how the english was treated by most of the staff in the hotal. when we asked where things was they were ignorant to us and when we asked them for there help most of them would turn around and say they do not speak or understand english.
when we got there and cheacked in to are room all that was in there was 2 single beds and a t.v bathroom shower
and a minibar a safe and that was it kind of but that was what we paid for.
half way to the end of our stay at the hotal are room kept going wrong like we went out for a day went back later and in the bathroom was a hacth to get to the wires or something. now that was down when we got back but not when we left to go out for the day this happend twice well we was there in the hotal. the safe broke had to get it fixed by some one in the hotal. oped up the window and the wire cage to stop the mozes fell down had to grab it and put it back on other wise we would have been billed.
The cleaner looked nice and poilet and cleaned our rooms out for us.
the food in the restaurant was all for the germans
and others. all throught the week we was there was salad/chips/ meatballs/chicken/dryed out bread/ and lots of other stuff. the only meal that was ok was breakfast. the rest of the time we spent eating out places like the edens bar which ceterad for the english. or there were loads more places that was kind and would help find some where for u to eat.
the people out side the hotal was more frenidley then the staff in doors. the bar and restuarnets had more stuff for kids and adluts and for the whole family then the hotal. they had enterenment all the time every night and was just a big lagh.
the worst part of the hotal is that 3 days befor we come home my phone and other stuff was stolen from the room we was in when i put it on charge and whent out for a day trip around the town come back and was no where in the room .
now the only people with a key is the cleaner/ resption/ and you.
on the day we were leving we packed are stuff way and tidy up are stuff. went and handed the keys back in at 12.00 clock in the after noon and put are suitcase in the luggage room and whent to the pool as are bus did not turn up in till half 8 at night.
we went up to the resturant when it oped at half 7 to get some food before we went. between half 7 and half 8 well we where up stairs most of the bags and suitcases had been gone in and stuff stolen from them between the times we whent upstairs and came downstairs. it was not just us other peolpe had stuff go missing from theres.
when all ther family went out one of our rooms got broke in to and we reported it and some one from respetoin come up to the room got a ashtray and banged the metal back to shape and closed the door and said thats fine and walked of.
we will never go back to that hotal ever agin but will be going back to turkey.

Hotel was nice and clean, so no...

Oct 2007, Miss L Squires

Hotel was nice and clean, so no problems there. Cleaner and lady who stocks up mini bar are very polite, staff at restaurant are polite too. Manager and staff on reception and night porter are very ignorant, if you speak English they don’t want to know and claim not to speak English, however when my rep spoke to them they spoke English back to her.
They will bend over backwards for the Germans but everybody else don’t stand a chance, the food was bearable at breakfast time as the provided pastries and cereals, other meals where mainly salads and cold pasta and a lot of spicy food that my daughter or partner would not touch, free drinks were ok.
Thomas Cook misled us on this holiday though, as we paid full board, a member of Thomas Cook told us this was Turkey's all inclusive back in '06 when the holiday was booked, we found out that when we arrived we was not all inclusive but full board so our meals were limited and not very good. Thomas cook told us that the hotel catered for English food as well. The hotel did not. We had also been informed that there were plenty of kid’s activities, once again there was nothing only a freezing cold baby pool.
I would go back to Turkey as outside of the hotel people were so friendly and talkative and the restaurants were excellent but I would not go back to this hotel. I wouldn’t recommended it either, read reviews before you book as all is not as it seems, and I would not take children to this hotel as there is nothing there for them.

This was my 1st holiday abroad for me...
7 / 10
May 2007, Miss C Vickers

This was my 1st holiday abroad for me and my 2 kids. Partner been other places.
The hotel was clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. For that I would give 10/10
The food was mostly the same every day and not very hot. I am one of the lucky ones in that my kids who are 8 and 12 will eat anything and since the food was salad/pasta was ok.
The night meal was either chicken or meatballs but the same salad bowls and cold pasta every meal. The soup which was different every meal was nice but cold. I love the bread which was fresh every day.
It was eggs every day for breakfast the cereal tasted stale to me and the milk is long life. For the food I would give 6/10
The holiday was booked as full board but when we booked it was told full board plus which means you get your drinks free with every meal from soft drinks to local wines and beers.
We also found out that if you travel from the uk or book my Thomas cook anyway that you only get full board plus. But all the people from Germany and other places they got all inclusive.
We also found out that even though the staff are helpful and friendly they seem to do more for the people on all inclusive.
Just to let you know there is a person who takes photos all day and night of your holiday and charges you 2 euro for every picture you buy from him. The photos are good and he can put frames and changes to the pictures on his computer.
Before we left he took more photos of us but as to take them away to have them printed, we explain we were leaving that night so he but all the photos he had taken (well most) on a cd and charged us 20 Turkish money for the disc.
The hotel is not for kids they is no kids club and no slides. The pools are deep my 12 old had the water up to his neck in the shallow end. My 8yr old had to wear arm bands all time. There’s a very very small pool (which I would not call a pool) which came up to my knees but a steep step to get in to. There no step. So it went straight up to my knee I am 5ft3. For the kids thing I would give it 5/10, don’t get me wrong the kids loved it but had to make their own fun.
If we had to go again we would. I think you make your own holiday in the end.

This was our first family holiday...
8 / 10
Aug 2006, Mr R Whiteoak

This was our first family holiday (myself, the wife and the kids (1 1/2 & 4 1/2)). The three hour journey from the airport wasn’t the greatest.

All of the Turkish people we met (including the hotel staff & shop workers) were very hospitable and welcoming - not a single complaint about them from me.

The food at the hotel was the main thing that brings the score down for me. It was all very basic finger food, but to eat outside of the hotel was still fairly cheap so we ate out most of the time.

The room we were given was on the ground floor with a terrace about 15ft away from the main pool (lit in the evenings) which meant that we could sit out in the evenings with our kids in the room and have a nice view and still be close to the shops outside and the bar.
Take mosquito nets. My biggest gripe is the mosquitoes as they bit the wife & I to shreds. (Argos sell double & single mosquito nets, well worth a buy). The hotel didn’t provide anything for the kids to do, but we were never told that it would. So we had a couple of days on the beach, a day in a massive water park (cheap), a day by the pool - the kids weren’t bored.
I would definitely go again!

We went to turkey last year and had a brilliant time! Its making me really angry how people complain about the food drink etc!
You can’t expect to go to a different country and eat English food! They have their own ways over there and people should respect that! The food in the Artemis princess was fine! There was different things to try each night. And yes there were chips every night but that’s because people moan about not having English food!
I had a lovely time the weather was lovely loads to do and it was my birthday over there and the man in an Elvis restaurant got me a cake and a present! It was lovely don’t listen to the moaners!

Just got back today from the worst...
3 / 10
May 2006, Mr A West

1 reader found this review helpful

Just got back today from the worst holiday ever. Firstly when we booked were told the flights would be from Newcastle to Antalya, and coming back Antalya to Newcastle, only to get a surprise in the flight being via Stanstead. Then including the 3 hour coach ride to hotel from airport, and 3 hour trip to airport on return. Thus we were traveling for approx 10 hours, not good at all.
Anyhow, food at Artemis Princess was so bad I would not of fed it to my dog. To say it was disgusting is an understatement. We spoke to our rep to voice our complaint and her reply was "well that’s Turkish food". Obviously we had eaten out at Angels bar etc, and the chef being a full blood Turkish man, served us real Turkish food. The food in the hotel was NOT Turkish food at all. Hey if you love cold eggs, cheese, dried out bread, bland food, raw burgers, re-processed food i.e. what you don’t eat at dinner is warmed up again for tea, get yourself there, you'll love it.
Being all inclusive the money we took was for presents, plus it was my wife’s birthday and wanted to buy that special present. All our money was spent on dining out. No entertainment for adults or children. No I lie, the adults had to entertain their own children as they were so bored. Watch out for the trips, don’t go for first price. Ask at Angels, they will get you good deals. Cheaper than the arranged Thomas Cook excursions that’s for sure. The good side is that the hotel was clean, basic rooms but you’re only there to sleep anyway.
Staff were very friendly and always happy to help. Local drinks is beer, orange, coke, more beer, raki and vodka. If you don’t like them, its going to cost you. (Drinks are not cheap). Well this is just to vent our spleen, but Thomas Cook are going to get a huge complaint from us. I'll never book through them again.

This hotel looked wonderful when we...
1 / 10
Apr 2006, Mrs M Beck

This hotel looked wonderful when we arrived. Although when we arrived we had to drop our bags and run to the restaurant because it was closing in 15 minutes.
We were all asked to wear blue bands (for identification if we ventured on the beach and were allowed free loungers and umbrellas which the Germans from the Hotel across the road hogged greatly). We were bitten, we were given food poisoning as the Ban Marie was never piping hot, there was never any steam coming from under the containers, and the salad was left in the heat for hours. If there were any fried eggs left at lunch they were served again at evening meal.
One night we had to ask the chef to take the soup (it was stone cold) and heat it up! We complained constantly to the rep (who incidentally was Turkish) and she did nothing. All the occupants were ill, children being admitted to hospital even. We were promised repeatedly on the journey from the airport to the hotel (never ending) that if we attended the reps meeting the following morning we would be awarded a £50 voucher from our next holiday, we never even saw the paper it was printed on never mind the voucher, even though we repeatedly asked the rep. We were constantly fobbed off.
The "men" came and sprayed the hotel foyer (for mosquitoes presumably) while we were sitting in the foyer and the smell was appalling. I have asthma and I ended up taking my inhaler in the fresh air outside the hotel as I was gasping. One man fell into a puddle beside the pool and was bitten so badly (from the puddle I presume, or the infection came from there) that his leg was so badly infected he ended up in hospital and they would not let him out until the insurance had paid up.
There was not one guest who was not ill in the two weeks we were there. We lost two days of our holiday at different times through food poisoning. (We had to eat something) Eventually I ended up with chips or rice for every meal. The day after I was so ill I crawled down to the bar and tried to get a drink of water and was told that free drinks did not start until 10:00am so they would not give me anything at all, and I was choking and desperate to just wet my mouth.
We found this holiday quite the worst we have ever had and will never ever return to Turkey. The Pasha Star at Side was so different, although it was only bed and breakfast, and was not beside the sea. You can keep Turkey for me, my husband agrees, and as for the Artemis Princess, well...... it ought to be condemned and all its proprietors with it. No thank you ever again.

We were a dismayed & concerned to...
9 / 10
Oct 2005, S Tacy

We were a dismayed & concerned to read the negative comments about the hotel Artemis Princess, however we had decided the price we paid we would go with an open mind and not expect to much.
Firstly we have to put this hotel into context, it is a 2 star plus that offers a good quality clean comfortable accommodation at very cheap prices, we would defy anyone who could stay in England and receive the same quality & value.
Hotel 10/10 for cleanliness
Hotel Rooms - the maids were first class, every day the beds were changed with clean sheets and fresh towels placed in bathroom.
Dining Room
Food 8/10
Breakfast
Each day a selection of cheeses; eggs; yoghurt; honey; jams; tomatoes; cucumber; crusty bread etc
Sorry, beg to differ to the client who complained the salads were not fresh.
Lunch & Dinner
Each day a good selection of fresh salads to choose from;
Hot meals section, chicken; meatballs; turkey; pasta; potatoes; vegetables; freshly made soup & pasta.
Fresh crusty bread.
Sweet selection various sponges & biscuit based puddings and fresh fruit (water melon, honeydew melon and oranges).
The dining room and the kitchens are immaculate, the kitchen staff wore clean crisp white uniforms and the waiters were also respectably turned out.
Whether you are in a 3, 4 or 5 star hotel food becomes repetitive. Chips are on the menu every day because of the number of complaints received from English tourists, moaning the food stinks. On the whole the food is of a good standard, presented nicely and fresh.
We found all staff to be friendly and helpful especially the cleaning staff and reception.
We are glad we stayed at the Artemis Princess and believe it does not warrant the ridiculous low marks clients chose to give If you take the restaurant out of the equation, the cleanliness of the place, alone, should have pushed the ratings higher.
To anyone who has booked this hotel, do not be put of by the negative comments, because for pound for pound this has to be a great value hotel.

After reading the reports on this...
7 / 10
Sep 2005, Miss L Kelly

After reading the reports on this hotel I was panicking that I had made a big mistake.
I’m so glad I was wrong.
The hotel was spotless for the entire week, rooms cleaned every day. Everyone was so friendly, even the cleaners!
The food was fine. I could eat everything there and I wasn’t ill - there is fresh salad every day and rice and noodles and then a couple of hot dishes with turkey chicken fish and beef. Fresh bread every day. The breakfast is not to everyone’s liking - but its a traditional Turkish breakfast and you are in Turkey! If you want the full English you will have to go outside the hotel to get it. Also you are eating on a rooftop restaurant with lovely views of the sea and mountains. Lovely atmosphere in the warm evenings!
Also, a few families were complaining about the food for the kids. There is not a kids menu so if your youngsters eat fish fingers/chicken nuggets etc and not a lot else, then this is not the place to come, although they do serve chips every day.
There are no activities for the kids (like kids club/playground) and there are no attendants for the pools so you will have to watch your kids in the water. Also I know it says all inclusive, but this only includes 3 meals a day and drinks - no snacks/ice cream included. Don’t expect to get a drink past 11:30pm unless you are willing to pay for it.
Overall, If you walk along the road across from the hotel at night, you will find some lovely restaurants and they all serve the typical English food if that’s what your craving and one of the right hand side plays all the English football as well! Also if you want a bit of dancing, its a short bus ride away from the town.
I would recommend this holiday to couples and groups with older kids. i think if you take your younger kids, you might have problems.

I had massive worries about this...
6 / 10
Sep 2005, Mr D Broome

I had massive worries about this hotel when I read some other reviews about this hotel but thankfully not all were agreed with by myself and my partner.
The hotel was very clean with the maids cleaning every day. Nothing was too much trouble for them to deal with. They were very pleasant. This also goes with the reception staff.
The bar staff seemed ok. They tried to get involved at times but did seem a little miserable at times, especially when the boss man was about who was the most miserable person I have ever met apart from my boss at work. He had no patience with the small children and never smiled once during the duration of the holiday. The drinks were what I expected cheap and cheerful. After all we only paid £500 each for 2 weeks so I was not expecting Stella Artois! The pop for the children was good as you could see that the Pepsi was actually proper Pepsi and not a cheap version. You could also have as many drinks in one go as you wanted. The music played was very repetitive and the stereo was close to getting smashed towards the end of the holiday. They never catered for any nationality regarding the music apart from Turkish people who loved the crazy frog!!
The food was something totally different though. For the 1st few days it seemed ok apart from the food not seeming very warm. Like stated earlier we felt that we got what we paid for. But after the 1st week we noticed that it was always the same dishes on for the main meal. The lunch was ok. Just enough to get you through the day but once again this became boring after a few days. The breakfast was sampled once and that was enough. Enough said about the breakfast.
The salads would have been really enjoyable if they were fresh everyday but they seemed to recycle some of the leftover food from earlier meals. You had to look at what was on offer and then make your choice of salad as you could be lucky and get a fresh one. Towards the end of the holiday none of our party of 13 could face any mealtime in the restaurant and had to eat out to survive.
A great shame really as this was probably the only think that let down the hotel apart from its position of about 2 1/2 miles out of town. Also great position of 200 meters away from the beach.
