My wife and I spent a fantastic week here in Feb 2008. As per the previous review, the views from the hotel are fantastic. This hotel is lovely and has a very friendly / homely feel to it, the the owners Frank and his wife couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. We never bothered Frank to give us a lift into the village as we preferred to stretch our legs and enjoy the wonderful scenery around. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. The other hotels in the village are nice with lots of amenities but they just feel like any other hotel you can find at home. The food at the Milka is of a high standard, breakfast is usually a selection of fruits / cereals / breads and cold meats and cheeses. The evening meal is 4 courses and there is enough choice to choose something different for every night of the week. If you decide to eat out in Kransjka Gora there is only a small number of places to eat apart from hotels. Price wise it is very cheap to eat and drink there, most hotels charge approx 2 euros for a large beer or glass of wine although in a few of the bars you could pay as little as 2.5 euro's for both. Skiing wise I enjoyed it although if you are a reasonable skier the slopes are limited, prior to our visit it had snowed a week before but the week we stayed their was no new snow and the slopes had to rely on man made snow otherwise there wouldn,t have been any skiing. We also went on an afternoon trip to Lake Bled which I thought was expensive foe 25 euros each. I wouldn't bother going , the lake was very nice but the town was alot bigger than expected and didn't really have a nice charm about it, I'm glad we never stayed there for the week , as you have to be bused to the slopes about 40 mins drive.
In a nutshell Kransjka Gora is a lovely smallish village with a nice feel to it, stay at the Milka you won't be disappointed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We stayed at the Milka from 20 January to 27 January and can truly say this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in. The owners are incredibly hospitable and simply cannot do enough to ensure you have a memorable stay.
Food
The food at the hotel is also incredible as it also functions as a restaurant. We had four course evening meals included in the half board option with Crystal Ski. By contrast to hotels located more centrally food is a la carte and not self service so you it is like dining out every night.
Location
About 15 minutes walk from the centre of Kranjska Gora, which is very scenic. Some may find this a bother, but if you're fit this will not be an issue. The alpine views on the way to the hotel are awesome and the hotel itself is situated on Lake Jasna.
This beats any of the views you would get more centrally. Frank, the hotel owner, would drive us to the Piste every day and then collect us at the end of the day.
Rooms
Very clean and compact. Not a huge amount of room to manoeuvre but we were out all day so this was not an issue. The style of decor is very traditional. No tea/coffee making facilities, as you would expect outside the UK.
An absolute gem of a hotel- with only six rooms the hotel has a very personal feel. We didn't want to leave! If you have a choice between the Milka and the centrally located hotels, go for the Milka and don't let the extra walk put you off.

Having just read a review on the Hotel Milka in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia I felt I must write my own. We have stayed at the Milka on 5 occasions and are looking forward to returning in May this year for our 6th. The Milka is a small friendly family run hotel which offers service 'par excellence'. Frank and Maggie are always around to offer assistance and advice they have helped us with car rental bookings when we'd had problems and when the car didn't turn up! We now travel independently using Easy Jet driving ourselves from the airport.
We stay on a bed and breakfast basis using their al a carte menu in the evening. Food is always excellent and Frank stocks good wines! The hotel rooms are comfortable homely and clean those at the front having balconies overlooking Jasna Lek (Lake Jasna) . The view is one that is constantly changing and one that we never tire of. There are two walks down into town one along the road and the more interesting following the route of the river as it's azure, clear, 'cold' water tumbles along over white limestone. But in the evening why bother, once the candles are lit in the dining room or on the terrace, if it's warm enough, and you are assured of good food, wine and company. You might feel the need after dinner, although food is certainly not ''stodgy'. There is always fish on the menu and often roast suckling pig. Other delicacies include Maggie's mother's recipe for Gnocci with Spinach and smoked cheese and Gibanica a Slovene delight! You have to have Gibanica if you visit Slovenia and dare I say it that the coffee shop in town serves an even better one! Sorry Maggie! The menu is varied with cuisine from Slovenia, Austria and Italy their borders being very close by. We love to walk when we visit Slovenia and you will find many others intent on doing the same the area and of course in the hotel. Maggie and Frank have built up a regular clientele, is it any wonder? We enjoy meeting up with people we've met before and those new to the area. On warm evenings the terrace is perfect and Frank is usually around for a chat in either English, German, Italian,Slovene or I believe Croatian.Listening to our hosts swap between languages is quite amazing and puts us to shame. What else can I say about our little 'bolt hole'other than go there and enjoy as we have done .Thank you Frank and Maggie see you soon!
