Plenty to eat! Pity about the pools
5 / 10
Feb 2010, nacnudsfamily

Booked on the basis of outdoor heated pool -which was being rebuilt-so we were given"free" pass to the sports centre pool. However, this is a training pool and you have to book lanes. We tried twice - limited choice of times, on each occasion after about 20 min (3 of us on one lane) we were told to move to share lanes as it was now swimming lesson time and in the end we just got out - no fun being chased up lanes by superior athletes(oh and we had to buy swimming caps at 5.75 euros each!) My son & I thus braved the unheated outdoor pool and enjoyed it (for short periods!).
Hotel was well maintained, clean, fairly empty - the kitchen/bar staff were lovely. Not sure how it would work when full. Lots of food - of reasonable variety although didn't find much traditional canarian food apart from the potatoes. A bit too international really. We suspected the bottles of house wine were being refilled from a plastic vat in the kitchen! Although all-inclusive it was good to have the apartment to make cups of tea as the machine in dining room only worked at mealtimes.

do not listen to what the negatives say, i read the people saying ti was a crap holiday & the food & everything was bad but i really though it was amzing,
my dad is a really fussy eater & thought we wouldnt eat anything here but we had lamb chops & english chicken naughtets (very simler to macyds naughets) chicken, chinease food everything, wev all ate really well & came home with a few extra pounds
Bedrooms - are spotless, cleners in everyday with clean towels & clean sheets & they even cleaned the windows every day, washed all the floors, tidie the bedrooms up everything,
Bar - was amazing, english achahol bailys, smirm off vodka, bricardi, martini, everything you name it, Barstaff are absolutely brillient, epseically Deba who was my little holiday romance ;P there all very good with English & really welcoming people, Miss Deba very much
Entertainment - enterainment wasnt very good for children during the day as there was only one person with activites & not much things to do for the children, night time entertainment was pretty good but never started on time, & if there conpetierive games the spanish always win, all English music all day & night.
Pool - was very nice 3 big out door pools didnt see the indoor pools or nothing, but pools right near the bar, was a bit quiet & was hardly anybody near the pool side so wasvery quiet & relaxing
Hotel - was very nice & quiet, allways saw the cleaners going round mopping or something
not far away from costa teguise town, a few english bars in the town aswell as resturants,
i would defo recommend this holiday but 1 week isnt long enough, im going back in november for two weeks with my friend & going back next year with my family,
BRILLIENT HOLIDAY!!!

SERIOUS WARNING: DON'T GO THERE, THIS HAS TO BE KNOWN

I'm just writing this because I don't wish any other person the trouble I have been through!
I booked a stay for one week. Let me try explain chronologic FROM BAD TO WORSE:
- The usual welcome at the reception we should get in this hotel, was skipped.
- Info, only in bad English or Spanish at the reception.
- Forget the elevators. They don't work, so avoid 2nd floor.
- Dangerously slippy tiles near the pool.
- Instant coffee, uncovered and oversugared donuts and only fast food at the pool. ice cream scoop does not get cleaned!
- room keys distributed without id check
- Although it was all in, you had to pay for things like ice cream.
- Insects and flies over the uncovered food
- never enough matrasses at the pool
- parasols broken
- pool not cleaned
- toilets dangerously slippy, because of greasy floor, yes I fell down!
AND THIS IS JUST THE TIP OF THE HYGENIC ICEBERG!
- Not possible to get anything else in de hotel restaurant than soda's. so, for example: a real espresso was refused to be made!
Second time, they admitted, but only if I consumed the coffee at the bar, not at the table with my friends! Redicilous!
- Weekly BBQ was held outside: everything in plastic! remember it's a 4 star hotel
- Meat was literally burned black in 50 cm high flames. Inside still raw.
- In the main restaurant, glasses still had dirty marks from before
- 95% of all the liqour in the bar is to be paid for. So no ALL IN here either.
- When eating, either your plate was removed when still chewing, or it stayed on the table for the next 20 minutes
AND THEN IT GOT WORSE:
- warm dishes were served cold, I mean Cold!
- cold dishes (ice in plastic cups) already melted along with all the rottening fruit, yoghurt,...
- French Fries hardly cooked
- Airco was never used in the restaurant
- Bakery remained in the restaurant until the next morning
- Dishes contained several other things that shouldn't be in there
- Remains were thrown togheter and served again
- Dirty plates among the clean ones
- The black burned crust of a chunk of meat was simply cut off as if it never happened
- Arguing staff members
- practically no variation in food, barely enough for a few days.
AND THEN THIS:
after the third day, my estomac gave up.
I suffered a lot. I had three doctors visiting me, ate only liquid food from the pharmacy, and ended up in the private hospital, where after a night of bloodtests etc, it was obvious, I had FOOD POISONING and GASTRO ENTERITIS.
It was so bad, I just arrived at the hospital in time, or they had to operate my intestines.
I spent the next 36 hours in the hospital and got back just in time to cat h my plane home.
Just for info: before this incident, we never ate or drank anywhere out the hotel!
So please, people, think twice before booking here.

Jul 2008, Miss J Swales

me and my fiance went to this hotel september 2007 for a week, it was ok but the food was terrible and the staff were terrible and didnt understand me at all. there was no mini market or indoor pool as it says in the brosure that was dissapointing. it was very boring we always went out. the evening entertainment was rubbish. my fiance is a fussy eater but there is nothing he liked we ate chips. we had to pay for our drinks as the all inclusive selection was rubbish. we will not be returning here again. but apart from that costa teguise is gorgeous we are returning next year but to a different hotel plus the rep is rubbish

Great holiday - FOOD a little...

Jul 2008, RachelMawby

Great holiday -
FOOD a little repetitive but weekly themed nights which were great
ENTERTAINMENT good - our children aged 7 6 and 3 loved it - games in the days and some great shows at night.
ROOMS are massive and kept very clean
SPA We used this quote alot during the afternoons when the sun was at its hottest. The boys were able to go too and we were often the only ones in - great!!!!
Great location for walking up the the water park - and it takes about 15 mins to walk into the centre of Costa Teguise. Had a great day touring the island - covering the north to the south. The boys loved the volcano!!!

This Hotel was great i read all the...

Jun 2008, Mrs T Taylor

This Hotel was great i read all the reviews before we went and was abit worried about what everyone had put about food and break-ins. When we arrived the staff were very welcoming the the apartment was lovely and very spacious. All the staff around the pool bar and the bar were a good laugh and the hotel was very clean alround. There were lots to do for the children through the day and at night in the bar for the children. The girls Amanda and Inga that ran all the animation made our children,s holiday and they loved every minute of it and were very sad to be leaving when we had to go home. The food was great and plentyful and we found that you could eat all day if you wanted to the children had alot of choice and the hot sandwiches are a must from the pool bar. We used the free bus a few times to go to the beach which was great and also went onto the bus to purto del carmen which if you like shopping this is great also has a great beach. It costs 2.40 euros each on this bus but it is well worth it. While we were at the resort their were no break-ins and i heard no-one mention about anybody who had been broken into. The only problem we had is that at the end of the resturant near the pool their is another bar that you can use this is not part of the complex and you have to pay for all your drinks and also there was a air hockey table and pool table which you have to pay 1 euro when you play them but when my children tried to play on them it kept taking the money and then not releasing the balls for the table and when they tried to tell the lady behind the bar she didn,t speak very good english and didn,t really take much interest to help them. Apart from that my family had a wonderful time and we would certainly go again next year. Highly reccommended.

Booked this Aparthotel All-inclusive...
10 / 10
Jun 2008, Mrs J O''Connell

2 readers found this review helpful

Booked this Aparthotel All-inclusive for myself and my twin daughters (age 11) as a treat for them for doing well at school. And what a treat it was!!! Booked flights to Lanzarote a few weeks before with Monarch (delayed 5 hours!!! - a nightmare) and then scoured the Internet for a good deal as I only had a budget of £900 tops for the 3 of us & the flights cost £520. Anyway, looked at loads!!!!!!!!!!too expensive.....and eventually found the Las Marinas through a company called "Reserve a room online.Com" for £380 for the week, All-Inclusive, for the 3 of us...........what a bargain considering the state of the Euro. Boy, am I glad I booked All-Inclusive. We hired a safe because of the previous reports which were plenty big enough for cash, Ipods, Mobiles, MP3's etc....I laughed my head off when I saw one of the reviews which said the safe was not big enough so they had to leave their jewellery in the room which was stolen!!!!!!.......yeah, ,get real!
Arrival:
Arrived 5 hours late because of a delay in the flight. I had rung the hotel to tell them and we rolled in at 1am tired and naffed off. The man on reception asked us if we wanted some food and drink before we went ot our room ( was really impressed with this) . We were OK and were checked in within 5 minutes.....shown to our apartment by a nice bloke who looked like he was going to have a coronary pulling our cases up the stairs. Tipped him and he was all smiles.......a good start so far.
Apartment:
Couldn't fault it at all (no. 3205) had a nice sea view and was in a quiet area away from the road (had requested this previously by email). Lounge with sofa bed, seperate kitchen, big bathroom with bath AND shower (constant hot water by the way) and twin bedroom. Large balcony with furniture. My daughters had the twin room and I had the sofa bed...it was rock hard but was heaven to me as I had injured my the back the week before the holiday. The apartment was cleaned every day apart from Sunday and it was spotless ( a very slight smell of drains from the bathroom but it was very slight so we just opened a window)
Pools:
3 pools - one for toddlers about 12" deep, a large kidney shaped pool which was freezing but really nice on a hot day (of which we had many) and a third middle pool which was heated. Me and my daughters liked to jump in the freezing pool and then get into the heated one 'cos it was just like getting into a warm bath!!. It was closed on the last two days of the holiday due to maintenance but it did not matter to us. I have never been anywhere where you have a choice of sunbeds at any time of the day. The hotel was probably only about half full (if that) so we could sit where we wanted with a nice cushion for the sunbed.....bliss. I noticed that all the beds were in a very good condition. There was one that was broken and I told the staff who removed it ASAP.
Food:
Myself and my daughters thought the food was EXCELLENT: Hot food was hot and cold food was cold. I had 2 salads a day with either fish or a meat dish. Breakfasts included fruits (fresh or dried), eggs (scrambled, fried, boiled or omelettes)...bacon ( a bit fatty but I like it like that), breads, yoghurts, meats and cheeses, cereals etc etc ....and ( according to my daughters) the best Doughnuts in the UNIVERSE.
Pool Bar:
Open early doors till about 5-5.30pm. The cold snacks were few...crisps, doughnuts, cakes and sandwiches (nothing sparkling but nice)...the hot inlcuded Pizza, toasted sarnies, chips but these were all cooked to order so they were nice and fresh and you could either eat them at the table or sat at your sunbed.
Entertainment:
Something on every night. Mini-disco at 8.3O followed by various shows. Inga and Amanda, the animation team, did an excellent job. I joined in the men versus women contest which was an apsolute scream (did my back in again doing Sporty Spice impressions though). The parrot show was so bad it was funny - the main parrot (Micheal) went on strike and refused to pull the little cart with the Cockatieil in!!! It finished each night between 10-11pm...not too late which I think is good.
Facilitilies & Activities:
Animation through the day though we were no pestered. I contemplated doing the Rifle shooting but could not be bothered as I was so relaxed. There is a computer room with 4 computers where Internet Access is 2 euro for 20 minutes (that's where I spent all my money on the kids!!!...but, hay ho...who cares, they enjoyed it). There is a spa and indoor pool at the hotel BUT you have to pay and it is quite expensive. My daughters had an hour in the indoor pool and it cost 17 Euros!!!!! an there was too much chlorine. The receptionist at the Spa looked like she was sucking lemon and I was only allowed to watch the children swimming from outside through the window or I had to pay 8.50 Euro....chill out babe!!! Great games room for the kids with Billiards etc.
Staff:
Apart from the Lemon sucking lady in the Spa, all the staff were very attentive and friendly (especially Havi in the bar!). Could not fault them at all.
Nearby:
Supermarket (Netto) about 500 metres, lovely beach outside the Occidental Hotel about 15 minutes walk along the coastal path and great beaches and facilities in Costa Teguise if you want them but soooooooooo expensive (small beer, Fanta & Coke nearly 9 Euros.......so glad I was All-Inclusive).
Value for money:
Worth every penny!!! My daughters said it was the best holiday they had ever had and they have had lots of holidays. I have never been anywhere that was so relaxed, friendly and clean....I had already prebooked for a 2 week holiday for Egypt next year for all the family (hubby & 4 kids) and think if I had not, would have come back here. Will come back for 2 weeks Easter 2010
OVERALL: I can say that this was a FANTASTIC holiday. We made friends with 2 families from Newport, Wales (Hello Morgan, Bella, Rachel, Shaun. Angie, Adam, Laura & Kate) and we had a right laugh (I've lost your email addresses by the way so I am not ignoring you!!!) There were mainly English in the apartments with some Spanish, German & a family from the Czech republic and everybody got on
PS>>>>>Try the MUDSLIDE cocktails (Tia Maria, Vodka & Bailey's) ...they are wicked. Can't wait to go back.
