My partner and I stayed here in February. We were greeted by the Crystal/Thomson reps on arrival and shown to our room. Our room was very spacious and always very clean. We had a balcony and had a great view out of our window.
The staff were great. Always friendly and helpful and offered any information needed.
The food was very good especially evening meals. At breakfast you got a choice of cooked and cereal, bread, yoghurt and fruit were laid out.
Evening meals were always good and varied. Staff take note of any food allergies you have or you can ask what at breakfast what the meal will be and can ask for something else if you don't like what they're doing. Puddings were also varied and delicious.
Free wine was also served with evening meals and water.
The chalet location was about 10-15 minute walk to the gondola. We choose to rent a locker for 10euros for the weeks, at the ski rental shop opposite the gondola. So we dropped of and picked up our skis poles and boots each day and walked to and from the chalet in our normal trainers/boots. This made the walk much easier! But there is also a bus that runs just down from the chalet to the gondola.
The road down to the gondola did get busy as cars and buses drive up from other villages to park and ski for the day.
The ski area was fantastic. There are so many ski runs, biggest ski area I have been to. It was very busy on the slopes when we went as it was Scandinavian holiday apparently. There ski runs in Alba up the road from Canazei are definitely worth trying. We only went there on the last day and found it was very quiet and the runs were very nice.
The holiday was brilliant and we would definetly go back again and look into staying at Chalet Violetta again.

Having just returned from a weeks holiday at Chalet Violetta in Canazei, we thought we would post our opinion! We had a fabulous time - probably one of the best skiing holidays we have been on and hope to return again next year!
The Chalets themselves were better than we expected. Not 4 Star by UK standards, but were clean and our room was v. spacious - we recommend room 3 although there was no balcony. Some of the rooms with balcony tend to have sloped ceilings - not good if you are over 5'5.
The cooked breakfast were not great but there was always cereal, rolls, melon and yoghurt to fill up on and a fruit bowl in the lounge area. Afternoon tea consisted of a different cake every day and tea and coffee which always went down well after a day on the slopes. The 3 course evening meal was definitely the best meal of the day, the food was fresh and hot and as long as you turned up at 1930 sharp you got all 3 courses with free wine most of the evening.
The staff were polite, helpful and had lots of knowledge on the area. Apparently the nanny service was excellent.
One thing to remember though, it is a chalet environment, with communal lounge area and eating area and because it is a small complex be prepared to socialise with the other guests. If you like to keep yourself to yourself, this is not the place for you!

The resort itself was good; the only downside was the amount of traffic. The Chalet rooms were very nice and the staff were friendly and obliging. I wouldn't say it was a four star though because of the lack of facilities and the downstairs areas.
The food was OK, not marvellous but satisfactory. Overall we had a great holiday. Would definitely recommend as we went Christmas week and only paid £379 each. Most definitely worth the money. Bargain!
Ski area excellent for all abilities.

During our stay at the Chalet...

During our stay at the Chalet Violetta we found the children crèche to be very well organised and the staff very friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately we found the housekeeping staff to be very badly disorganised. They were all students who were unprofessional and lazy. The chef cooked very similar meals every night at a set time and the meals always seemed to be covered in salt making some of the food inedible. One night we were told that because we turned up 10 minutes late there were no starters available. I thought that if you were in a child friendly establishment they would at least appreciate that you can’t always get your children down for the meal on time.
I found the experience of staying in a chalet to be poor and would never consider going to the Violetta again.
