We were very disappointed with the hotel, especially the air conditioning. There wasn't a cool spot to be found anywhere in the hotel. The room was dated and in need of updating. On arrival we requested a change of bed spreads as they were stained. It was difficult to sleep as the room was so warm. The pool area was clean but nowhere near big enough for the hotel, our rep told us not to put towels on sunbeds, the pool attendant told us to come early to put our towels down. We witnessed two towels being removed from beds, their owners were in the pool at the time and quickly came out shouting and screaming. The food was reasonable with plenty to choose from but the restaurant was incredibly warm and uncomfortable, plus we were plagued by flies. I'm assuming that the flies were due to the horses who waited directly outside for tourist buggy rides, you could see them from the restaurant. When choosing a bread roll, my husband said that he decided not to bother because alot of flies flew out of them. Only three out of six lifts worked at one time. Most of the staff were friendly but on a few occasions it seemed they deliberately misunderstood us. Entertainment was poor, suitable for six year-olds or groups of students, definitely not 4 star. We love Malta but would not recommend this hotel as it did spoil our holiday somewhat.

I have recently got baqck from staying at the seashells resort. Before i went i was worried about going after reading several bad reviews about the hotel online, however once i got there i loved it. The facilities were great and the staff were really friendly and couldnt do enough to please you, especially the animation team. Our room was a little on the small side but that was made up for with an amazing view of the mediterranean sea from our balcony. The food was great and there was plenty of choice in all of the resturants. I am a frequent traveller and out of all the places i have been the seashells is the only hotel i would consider going back to.

Just returned from the Seashells resort.
It is so dated & desperately needs modernising.
We were lucky because we were warned to upgrade to a room in the Presidential Suite, which was lovely. Otherwise, the room we had previously been given, only had a window.
The food was the worst we have ever experienced. There is no difference in the healthy breakfast option, except that you don't get the choice of the disgusting cooked option. In our whole 7 days, there wasn't a proper cooked egg, they were all broken & dried up! The juice is just squash. As for the fruit option - horrible apples or dried up oranges, swarming with flies, tasteless slices of melon, or tinned fruit cocktail, offered it seemed at every meal. We bought all our fruit from the local mobile greengrocer. Spent a lot of money elsewhere, especially at the beautiful restaurant 5 mins walk away Duo's, just exquisite food. This became our life saver. In all the four star hotels we have ever been to, this was the most meanest meagre offering of all inclusive we have ever encountered. So this holiday became quite expensive indeed.
Our friends had stayed here just before us & refused to give any comments, because they knew we were arriving after and now we know why!!!. The pool towels are a joke, having to pay to use them. So we just bought a couple to use during our stay.
Have never written a review before, but thought this warranted one! Wouldn't wish the food or entertainment on my worst enemy. To sum it up, location really lovely, Presidential suite lovely. But sadly that's all folks!
- Holiday Date:Jun 2011
- Advice: Don't eat there full stop! use local buses to get around & treat yourselves to a meal/lunch at Duo's.

My partner and myself recently enjoyed a two week stay at Seashells. We have stayed at this hotel before and obviously with going back thought it was good but this year it was even better. During the closed season many up grades have been made and effective staff training taken place. Many of the staff speak several languages. With a couple of exceptions staff were very helpful and courteous and worked as a team to the benefit of guests. The hotel is on the coast road with the pool immediately by the sea. There is no sandy beach but rocks which allow easy access to the clear blue sea. Our room was clean with good daily maid service, towels changed when requested, bed changed mid-week. There are two restaurants serving breakfast - one with many choices including cooked breakfast etc, the other a healthy menu with variety of cereals, fruit, etc. If on full board lunch is served outside by the sea or a packed lunch may be requested. Evening meal is served in three different restaurants – Le Pavilion Restaurant which is the main restaurant; It-Tokk which serves mainly Maltese food or a BBQ which has to be pre-booked. At all three there is a good variety of food. The hotel has 7 floors and 6 lifts. At busy times, eg breakfast/early evening there is often a wait for a lift but given the size of the hotel this is to be expected. We had an inland room which overlooked pleasant residential houses and a couple of hotels. The room took in the afternoon/evening sun and was not affected by music which enabled a good nights sleep. The hotel is ideally situation for shops, bars, other restaurants and the bus station is only a five minute walk. From the bus station buses run to many parts of this beautiful island. We will certainly be back another year and recommend to family and friends.

Me and my family return every year!
We love it there!
Anyone that has any worries, ignore the people that say its bad they are just over critical, the hotel is lovely, the pool needs some work doing and the rooms are pretty dated but everything is very clean, the bathrooms are lovely, sheets and towels are always clean and the staff are incredibly friendly.
The air conditioning is very good, and the balconies at the front of the building have fantastic views
The food is fantastic and can accommodate everyone; I have two younger daughters and my parents often come on holiday with us as well. If you have any problems make sure you ask the reception staff as often you can use up your meals in different restaurants than allocated, The Tal Kaptan restaurant is perfect it serves lovely food somewhere we visit a few times in the week. Most of the other restaurants are buffet style and sometimes there are even barbeques outside.
If the pool is not to your taste as it is salt water the is a lovely lido right next door which offers all day access at very cheap prices and is fresh water.
For the younger holiday goers, the nightlife isn’t fantastic in Qawra however buggibba is just along the sea front and has a few pubs and clubs. If you’re looking for booming nightlife st julians is the place to go and is only a short journey away.
For the more matured holiday goer the Qawra sea front is all you need and the Suncrest provides entertainment nightly. however there are some lovely little bars 5 minutes up the road.

I have just returned from the the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, staff very unfriendly, everything is a trouble to them. I was glad to get away from it. Rooms very smelly and not cleaned properly. It is not child friendly. Paid over the odds a Upgraded room, asked when we upgraded was there a lot of noise at night from outside, told No - noise was terrible from there Cin Cin Bar until about 4am in the morning, amplified music from the band till 12, in competion with the Hotel next door. I
would never recommend this Hotel to anyone, no customer care when we raised our concerns- Should be in Hotels from Hell. Outside toilets/showers at Bar and Pool area digusting. This lets down the good Sol Hotel Name, It should be rated as a 2* not 4*. Please do not go to this Hotel and go through the same Nightmare as we did. Terrible

I agree with the previous person in saying that this hotel is perfectly fine and if you have booked to come here, please don't worry-you will have a great time. The hotel is in a lovely position, over looking the sea near to a few bars and restaurants. The bus station is only a few minutes walk away where you can go wherever you want on the island and ifyou want it a bit busier, Bugibba is about a 10 minute walk. Our room was on the 6th floor and was carpeted as were the corridors so it was very quiet. The pool was lovely, water slide great, with plenty of sunbeds however as it is peak season it does get very busy especially in the afternoons with what seems are the local teenagers but I must say that most of them do not cause any problems. We were worried as in previous reviews they complained about school kids. There do seem to be plenty of them as I think a lot of Study Groups come here but again we did not have any cause to complain as they were mainly quite well behaved and they seemed to be confined the lower floors to reduce the noise to other guests. My main problem with this hotel was food! There was NOTHING for children to eat (however after several complaints from other guests they provided something with chips on request towards the end of our stay). If you have picky children or adults you will really struggle, unless they like spinach soup and the like, even the roasted meat had something mixed in it like artichokes, and the only puddings were cakes (no ice-cream). There are no chips unless you ask. We all like to try something new whilst on holiday but it was a bit too fancy. No air conditioning in the dining room, although the door to the outdoor terrace was open and as always above 30 degrees it was very warm. Malta is great. Compared to Spain and Cyprus it is really cheap still even though the Euro is here. We had a great time here so Happy Holidays!

Lovely hotel, great location, friendly and very helpful staff fantastic view from seaview rooms. Rooms clean if a bit tired looking. Snack bar is as well stocked as any deli and food delicious however the same cannot be said of the restaurants. At breakfast the bacon was only half cooked and the sausages were still pink - a real put off. Evening meal quality and choice was very sporadic some days you were spolit for choice others we ended up having a sandwich from the snackbar which however nice the sandwiches are its not I want or have paid for to eat for my evening meal on holiday - come on Seashells get your act together on the restaurant food front - you can do better than this!
