Glad to see some good reviews about theses apartments. We stayed for 2 weeks in September self catering and were very worried by the reviews we read. Yes the furniture is dated, but apartments are clean and spacious, bins emptied everyday, towels changed every other day,... more

Just got back from these apartments. Most disgusting apartments we've ever stayed in. We never had our sheets changed whilst we were there. As for the maids, all they did was shake the sheets, take the rubbish away and flush the toilet. There was a dead fly in the room,... more

I was very worried after reading the reviews from this hotel. We arrived very late at night and the reception check in was the easiest I have ever encountered just handing over the key to the room. The room was clean and appropriate the only problem was bed number 4 was a... more

This place is well past it's sell by date and I am amazed that tour operators say their own staff have inspected the apartments. If they were in Britain Health and Safety would have a field day. We were there in May 2011 and were amazed at the state of the place. Apartment 1008 in the Pacifico building is the worst I have ever seen.

Just back from a week here, couple in our mid 20's, the apartments are basic, very clean, hot water all the time and the beds are comfy. I had one (small) problem, the lift was very slow & we were on the 9th floor, it took ages to come! But everything else was ok, do not go... more

Brilliant
It may not have been a five star hotel but it was great. Hotel was clean, staff were friendly and the entertainment at night was great, a bit repetitive but great. The drink and food was really cheap everywhere in the resort and everyone was really nice. its located close to everything you need and there is lots to do. The Red Lion and Bartz are very friendly bars. During the day, the beaches are gorgeous, plenty of water sports reasonably priced and the food in the restaurants along the beach is great. we are just home and being back to work is a real downer. We will definately be back again very soon.
happy hols in cell block D
The only decent thing about the hotel was the evening meal selection. Breakfast was scrambled egg or scrambled egg with veg. Tower block d resembled a council high rise my partner had the misfortune to dwell in during the 1970's, this has since been pulled down! Every sound was amplified and bounced off the concrete walls so that every reveller sounded as if they were in your bathroom at 5am. We seemed to spend all our time going up and down in the only working lift (there were only 2) The room was grubby at best, the shower needed re-plumbing but the toilet flushed well! The wonderful beach was a ten minute walk away but crampons are needed to get down to it.
Block 1 review
Just came back on the 18th June and stayed in Block 1. The facilities were good. The apartments are clean but basic, but had everything we needed. The towels were not changed as much as they said they were, but got changed after a reminder at reception. The pool area and the pizza/cafe restaurant does good food, which is reasonable. If you want a sunbed make sure and be down at reception before 9:00 am to get a ticket, these cost 1 euro per bed. Met some great people at the apartments and the staff were also pretty friendly too. In all had a great holiday at the resort, even with Euro 2004 being on. If you are just about to go there, be prepared for loads of men in the resort. If you go to the pubs on the strip go to the Tropicool Bar, Cheers, and On the Rocks. These are all good. These are open to 4 am. Look out for the Scottish flag on the wall of the Tropicool Bar, it was broadcast top millions of japanese and spanish during a slight interuption in their live broadcast by us in the background! :-) For discos they have Babylon and Kathedral. They are both ok, but make sure you get free passes to get in as they will charge you 10 euros if you don't. If you are a group of lads or girls you will enjoy the strip. If you are a family, probablt best to stick to the irish bars, like Farmers, which are good.
Had a lovely time!!!!
Just got back from Club Praia da Rocha, after reading reviews was really dreading it. It was actually ok. Apartments bit basic, but clean and kept clean, only noisy due to football fans staying in area. Staff friendly and helpful. Beach fantastic, cheap holiday, enjoyed every minute. Stayed in block 3 - supposed to be worst - yes it was reflected in the price, but you only sleep in apartment! If you have booked - dont be worried it's really ok - as long as you are not a snob!
3 Star more like 1 Star
Just back from Praia de Rocha, had a good week but wouldn't go back to Club Praia De Rocha. The Apt itself was very basic, fairly clean but the furnishings were only fit for the dump! The Complex is full of Irish Families and not very suitable for couples. All in all it was ok for a cheap deal but I'd prefer to pay a little extra next time for and nicer complex.
3 prisoners in cell block d
Just got back from a 7 day 'holiday' in these apartments. Myself (the maw), my 2 year old son and 15 year old niece are the aggrieved. (Cell) block D right at the back of the buildings (out of sight out of mind) is equipped with 2 lifts, only one of which is ever operational. The other has a mind of its own and when you are on the 10th floor of a building with a 2 year old and all of the usual 'stuff' a child needs eg food, water, buggy etc a reliable lift is a must. For 3 days in a row the lift refused to open its doors for passengers..ah...bliss! The apartment itself was grimy, the balcony a death trap and inevitably a magnet for the 2 year old son. Cooking facilities consist of a two plate electric cooker (25 - 30 minutes for a cuppa - much quicker to open a duty free bottle and indulge) and a bin. Pools are great - especially if you smoke as you'll be able to retrieve some of the fags out of the pool (mainly the kids') dry them out in the sun and bob's your uncle, you'll have saved a Euro or two on the cigs....Moan, moan blah blah all culminating in getting stuck in the lift with hysterical son on the last day having to strongarm the lift door open....Never again. The beach is terrific, though! liz
Hated Club Praia de Rocha
This hotel is the absolute pits of the earth. Dont go its like a prison block. I stayed for only 2 nights thank god on an accomodation on arrival deal. I have young twins and had to stay on a high floor in some grotty tower. From coming into the hotel to your room took about 10 minutes up and down in lifts that would not fit both buggies in at once. The food was disgusting with no choice. I was tottally ripped off. Dont go there ever.
great time
we stayed in block 1, could not fault it in any way, good nightlife ,try quins pub,car rental very cheap ,ford mondeo for three days 95 euro.
I wouldn't advice anybody to go near the place........
Just back from this place and I must say it is nothing like what has been written before. The hotel is horrible, 13 stories high and really horrible apartments. The only saving thing for this place is the beach - if the resort hadn't had such a beautiful beach other then that I would have cracked up. Got moved from block 1 to block 2 as the rep failed to tell us that we had to cross a bridge everytime we want to go anywhere. Try doing that with a child in a pram! I wouldn't go back to that apartment complex if I got it for nothing. My advice pay the bit extra and go stay someone nice beacause Praia Da Rocha is the most beautiful beach I have every seen and well worth a trip to see!
I have to go back next year!!!
We stayed my wife and I in Block 2, 10 th. floor with a beautiful view over the Arade river estuary. I travelled with Steintravel and our Rep Marian is a helpful and lovely person. The apartment was good and clean. The bed is changed once a week, the towels every 4 days (if you feel their not enough just ask the housekeeper). The shower is electric, so no problems to get hot water. The pool is large, nice and clean. The kitchen could have more gear. The TV: you have to rent the remote €40 per 2 weeks: this is in my opinion the most negative issue. You can take your meals at the hotel: the price is fair enough. I recommend the video bar. Live shows every evening, for the all familly. There are excursions every day every where you want to go. You can visit the whole Algarve, Lisbon, Fatima and Spain. You have Safaries cruises... The tours are cheap enough. The Portuguese evening is fabulous. The boat trip is great too and the visit to Zoomarine: brilliant. Children just love it. The beach is very good. The resort is like heaven for Irish citizens: there are lots of Irish bars with live music by Irish performers. The lads can watch their soccer games while the girls can follows their favourites soaps. If you don’t like to spend too much money in food, there are lots of fast food shops too. Restaurants are dear, but most of them have tourist menus from €6.00 pp. In order to save money on food, go to the Modelo shopping centre, or local supermarkets. Prices are good. After all you have a kitchen in your apartment; use it. Beware the sun. If you sunbath between 12 am and 4 pm, you looking for trouble big trouble. No protector will save you from those sunburns. Well, next year I’ll be back.
