clube praia da rocha
overall the place is clean though a little dated
the room we had was not that well equipped
if u want luxury then go somwhere else if you want inexpensive go here
the hotel itself is a way from the beach though the walk to the beach is up a short hill
and then down the steps to the beach it is well worth it
the new bordwalk and resteraunts are excellent with the anchoro 1 and 2 the best we tried
this hotel also sometimes houses basketball and football teams and can be quite noisy
though we found this ok
the pool and games room is ok but dated and was being spruced up while we were there
ok for a basic base holiday with no frills
we enjoyed it
what do you want for £90 for a week

While staying in these apartments i had the worst time of my life!! I am a 21 year old girl and whilst staying in these apartments wif my family i encountered some awfull things happen to me. When me and my family were given our room we saw that it was very dirty. There was some dangerous hazards all around the room. I have a sister of a young age and found that this was a disgrace....
Some of the apartment hazards were a smashed panal on the balcony, some electricity sockets were hanging off the walls, there was wee stains on the matress which children have to use, you couldn't put anything in the kitchen cupboards as the cultury would hav fell stright through as there was no bottoms to the cupboards lol. If you dont have a bottom to a cupboard wot happens ur knifes and forks will fall straight through. We also had a good veiw of building work going on from the balcony which woke us up at daft hours of the morn!!.
There was so many things wrong with the room my dad decided that he was going to complain to the travel agency (Thomsons) when we got back home. My dad decided that he was going to take pictures of all the hazards around the room so he would have proof to show the staffs in the travel agency!.
Its a good job we decided to book self catering! as we met quite a few friends in these apartments who booked up half board and full board and they says the food was awfull. The resort (pria de rocha) was slighty ok but compared to other resorts was crap!...
There was hardlys any decent pubs and there was only a few bars/restaurants to eat at. We also found that it was VERY expensive!!. I mean 1 nite it cost 80 euro for a 4 meals lol! (that is bad). The resort was very small aswell and being on holiday for 2 weeks it dus get a bit boren, i was sick of walking up and down the same road.
On our 2nd day of our 2 week holiday we decided 2 complain about the state of our room as we met friends who were in a different block 2 us and says there rooms were fine. When seeing our representative vicky she did everything she could for us. She says she would try and move us to another room but says it's unlikely!. We decided that we would grit and bare it until on the 7th day my mam saw a cockroach on the kitchen bench. We went straight to see vicky and this time she got us a better room! i know you get cockroaches in hot countries but not 5 floors up in an apartment block!, this was caused by dirtyness. We were moved to another room 3 floors down in the same block but this time we were facing the pool. This was a better room and much cleaner. We managed to stick it out in this room! and when we ready to go home we were like yipee!!. My mam and dad complained when we got home and guess what we recieved compensation. The staffs in the Thomson says the pictuures of the room were awful!!

Hotel was ok, quite clean, others were complaining about clean bedsheets and towels but I took my own towels and they only change bedsheets once a week.
At night you could not sleep because you could hear everybody walking about and beds creaking because they were old, the mattresses are really not comfy at all you can feel the bed springs on your back, you could not relax at all. I could not wait to go home because I felt more stressed when I left than when we arrived. The walls are that thin you can hear everyone's conversation next door, up above from you.
The hotel staff are really friendly. A big tip for you - Instead of hiring a remote from reception at 5 euros a day go to the Chinese Superstore and buy a universal remote for 7 Euros and you can watch TV any time you want, we locked the remote in the safe so the cleaners could not see them and bust you for it. Good or what!
I really recommend Taffy's Bar, we spent most of our holiday in there it was fantastic, friendly and it felt like my local back at home. Priar de Rocha is absolutely gorgeous we will definitely be going back to Priar De rocha but we definitely will not be going back to the Club Priar De Rocha.
Enjoy Portugal.

Hello my name is Michelle and I too went to Clube Praia de Rocha. Very basic accommodation but very clean which was the main thing. I was on the 13th floor (very high up). I didn’t like the fact that you had to rent out a fan and other things. You had to rent out a remote control which was pricey. The swimming pool was freezing even though it was between 25- 30 degrees. The pool also did not have chlorine in it. It was full of dead flies and leaves.
Staff were very friendly and would always give you help when needed. For some strange reason all the staff were male. Entertainment was excellent for kiddies (parrot show, kiddie disco etc). Beach nearby was absolutely excellent. A very Irish resort with restaurants such as Croke Park restaurant, Molly Malones etc. Many shops around that had reasonable prices. I recommend the Portimao Town. Plenty of cheap shops. A taxi from the hotel is about 5 mins. The friendly staff will book a taxi for you and it will come along in about 5 mins.
Overall I loved the holiday and there is no doubt I will go back!!!

The hotel was very basic but clean. However everything had to be 'hired' i.e. kettle, toaster, iron each costing 1 euro per day - even the remote for the TV, that was the most expensive 5 euros each for the first two days then 3 euros for the rest of the hire period. Considering this was a self catering holiday I thought the basics would be included in the cost of the holiday.
The staff were very friendly and the hotel restaurant was very good, 15 euros for a 3 course buffet meal including wine, beer or soft drinks - real good value.

This was the worst accommodation I have ever stayed in. We had booked last minute but nothing really prepared me for just how basic and sparse this accommodation was.
The staff were really unhelpful. I had to ask several times for basic equipment such as bowls and glasses, bearing in mind it is self catering accommodation they don't like to provide you with too much to have a self catering holiday.
The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows were lumpy - I had to ask for more pillows. There is very little equipment in the kitchen, if you want a toaster or kettle then you have to hire them. I basically would not give them another penny of my hard earned money so we bought one for less than it would have been to hire one.
The vents in the kitchen were blocked and we got all the smells from the upper apartments in ours, so every evening we came back to some horrid smells, we reported this on more than one occasion but nothing was done about it.
The bathroom was awful - cracks everywhere, no ventilation, the towel rails, toilet roll holder was all rusted, the shower was very powerful but it flooded the bathroom every time. We tried to spend as little time in the apartment as possible, even the children hated the place, you had to hire a TV remote and there wasn't even any free channels.
The only positive part was the pools; two nice sized pools with plenty of terraces to sun bathe but guess what, you had to hire the sun loungers. Most people lay on their towels on the concrete which was ok but they were always covered with chewing gum as it seems to be common practice to spit your chewing gum onto the terraces.
I would not recommend this accommodation to anyone. If you have any sense find somewhere else to stay.

This holiday was a last minute deal booked for a grand total of just £400 for both me and my partner. On reading some of the reviews I was slightly worried about staying at this hotel, however, I must say that those who say the place is terrible must have been expecting a 5 star hotel for the price they paid!
The hotel itself was very clean and comfortable; the staff were very friendly and helpful for all their english wasn't all that good they still knew what you meant.
Hiring the TV remote control for the week cost about 20 euros and it was worth it, as we just stayed in the hotel most of the time after having a meal out. We were even late in returning it by a couple of days and they didn’t charge any extra for that.
The computers is the hotels main reception we wonderful! 1 euro for 10 mins, however, if you go over to the games room, you got 15 mins for 1 euro, but you have to put up with people smoking in there.
The pool was freezing but that comes down to the time of year it was, but there is also an indoor pool.
This was my first holiday in the Algarve, but I would gladly go back to this hotel, I had a wonderful time!

I’ve been in many hotels and apartments over the years but I have to say this is without doubt the best I’ve ever stayed in.
Where do I start? The rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean. Cleaned regularly by friendly cleaners who always had a smile. Restaurant food was wonderful, couldn’t get enough of it and being a chef myself I should know.
The pool area was top notch, well worth the money for the loungers. Bar area was great, buzzing most nights and the entertainment as good as I’ve seen.
The apartments are centrally located and I had a fantastic view of the resort, being
on the 12th floor.
All in all a great holiday, this place should be upgraded to a 5 star rating.
The beach is lovely too by the way if you can drag yourself away from the pool.

The room was clean but very basic, for a self catering holiday the only appliance in the kitchen is a two ring cook top we were supplied with two pans but no cooking utensils even if you did want to cook! Kettles and toasters can be hired for 1 euro per day you can also hire an iron or hairdryer on a similar basis.
A family on a budget would struggle to be able to make a meal with the equipment supplied.
The rooms was cleaned daily, this consisted of the bins being emptied and the floor moped and clean towels, the sheets didn’t get changed in the week.
Overall the apartments were very quiet through the night, although we slept with doors and windows open ( we were on the 13th floor ).
Overall the apartments offered good value for money.
During our stay there were a lot of families staying and lots of fun was being had around the pool where you can hire a lounger for 1 euro per day.
There are a couple of bars at the apartments one with a karaoke, also a small supermarket.
To get to the town centre you need to walk uphill not to steep but could be a problem for anyone with disabilities.
The town centre of Praia da Rocha is always clean and tidy there are numerous cafe's and bars.
Breakfast at Kathy’s was delicious full English with tea or coffee for only 4.50 euro, beautifully cooked and not a speck of grease on the plate.
Mick and Chris’s sports bar do a excellent meal deal three courses for only 5.50 euro
And the ice cold beer was only 2 euro a pint !
The Chinese restaurant was another great place to eat 9.95 euro for a buffet ( eat as much as you like) the food was hot and fresh and nice staff.
There is also a good bus service so you don’t need to rely on taxis and tours to see more of the Algarve.

My husband and I booked this last minute as a 1st anniversary treat. Got a real bargain at e488 total for the week, so to be honest wasn't expecting the Ritz. As long as it was clean I was happy and it was. We had a kettle in our room and didn't have to hire one, although we had to hire the remote for tv, which cost 15euros for week. Our towels was changed twice (they were very clean) and sheets once for the week, was happy enough with that.
I have to say had no problems with cleanliness and lady cleaned room everyday. Showers were old but certainly powerful. 1euro for loungers but was no big queue, yes the furniture was dated but too be honest it doesn't really matter, unless your planning on staying in the whole time. Had a bit of crack with the receptionists too, so I found them friendly. Chambermaids were a different story but hardly seen them to be a problem. I will agree with other holiday makers about the lifts though, mind of own!
I think a lot of people are expecting a lot more for what they pay for, so therefore Club Praia gets a lot of stick. Don't let all the bad reviews put you off, as long as you don t pay 5star prices you won t be disappointed.
As for the resort itself, it's well worth a visit, gorgeous food and spoilt for choice with restaurants, don't think you ll be disappointed no matter where you go.
I'll just say go to zoo marine, e20 in and everything is free after that. Dolphin show alone was worth it. Also visit the cinema where they show 3d movie - brilliant! Massive slides, pools, fairground rides as well as animals, really worth the trip.

After reading all the reviews on the internet i felt the need to write a positive review about this hotel. After reading the reviews me and my friends were dubious as to how our holiday was going to pan out but we were pleasantly suprised. I really cant see what all the fuss is about. When we booked the holiday we requested not to be on a high floor and true to form we were placed on the second floor in a nice clean apartment which was cleaned regularly and any problems reported were sorted out straight away. The hotel is basic but for what you are paying it is well worth the money. Its in a really good location close to the beach and town. The hotel staff are friendly and there are alot of facilities avaliable including internet, a games room, supermarket, and entertainment. The hotel had a wide range of people staying from old couples to familys to us ... 3 young girls on a girly holiday for which it was perfect. Town provides alot of bars which were cheap and fun and a few clubs however, be prepared to stay out late as they dont close till 7am! The best bar is CHEERS on the main strip!
Overall, the hotel is definately worth a stay and all the bad reviews give the hotel an unfair image. I would definately stay here again and it is perfect for a girly holiday we had a wicked time!!! RECOMENDED!!!!
