we just came back from our holliday in this hotel. yes, the room is a bit dodgy,as all hotel wasnt refurbished since day one. old worn furniture, horrible floor tiles, which always makes your feet dirty, towels changed every 4 days, but it wasnt change at all! also need to pay for remote control, kettle, toaster, etc. but we didnt spend what much in our room, as there is so many activities around, and the room is useful just to come and get some sleep and take a shower. so cant complain much about it.
in other hand the staff is really friendly, the pool is amazing!big enough for everyone, also the pool for little ones. clean fresh & cool water. and food in restaurant is delicious, specially the desserts, fresh fruits, diffetent cakes, jelles, etc.
the location is ideal, just 5min from main street with shops, restaurants, bars and beach. the beach is simply amazing!
to sum up, we had a wonderful time there, despite a little disapointment in hotel room.

I have just returned from a weeks holiday in the Club Praia Da Rocha Apartments and I must say I was very disappointed with the accommodation. There were 3 of us sharing the apartment which was clean and spacious but the interior was in very bad shape. We had 4 cooking rings which were well past their sell-by date, it took about 15 minutes for one small ring to heat sufficient to be able to use it and the other 3 rings were useless. When we arrived the ice-box in the fridge was so badly in need of a de-frost that there was no room at all in the ice-box and I had to defrost it, and we had to press in the bottom of the fridge door to close it, any food that was stored on the top shelf of the door came out dripping wet - it had seen better days! The locker between the beds had a drawer in it but there was no knob to open it. The bottom drawer inside the wardrobe was not of any use as the front panel came off in my hand when I went to pull it out. The utensils in the kitchen were in short supply, there was only one side plate so we had to use saucers for plates and we had only one teaspoon between the 3 of us, no breadknife or sharp knife of any description, no tin opener, however we had a wooden spoon and a soup ladle (what use these were to holidaymakers I don't know). There was no way of drying swimwear on the balcony as there was no clothes-line of any description. We were on the 3rd floor and we used the stairs for the week as you could be waiting for 10 minutes to get into a lift. The apartments are in a nice location though there was a lot of noise from the main road which was outside our window. The sunbeds, TV, electric kettle, fan. etc all had to be hired and it cost €5 to hire the table-tennis table for an hour. There was a leak under the sink which I reported the day after I arrived and it was stil leaking when we departed a week later. Nothing in this apartment could have been checked over before we arrived. I would go back to Praia Da Rocha which has a magnificent beach and friendly people, but I would not go back to these apartments.

Have just came back from this hotel, with my husband, and two kids aged 9 and 6. Entertainment for kids does not start til high season, so if you go in June that is not classed as summer! The Cocktail bar shuts at 6 at night and it should be a lot later, the Video bar shuts at 12 whereas it should shut at 2am. Entertainment in the video bar does not start til gone 9, and the entertainment leaves a lot to be desired. The rooms were shabby with cabinets broken, the sliding doors did not lock, and you have to hire a kettle, toaster, and tv, which works out quite pricey. Also the lifts are very small and only two worked there when we were there, so you can be waiting a long time for them. The actual resort is a cross between Blackpool and a tacky neon city, so if you are hoping for real Portugal with tavernas, this is not the place to go.

We stayed in May/early June for one week,we are a family of four(kids aged 10 and 12). We was all inclusive and definately got our moneys worth. Food was good, something different every day,a lot of Fish dishes but other options available, didnt go hungry at all. The only downside to the all inc would be the snack times(only 11-12 and 3-4). You have to ask for what food you want at the snack bar and the lady scared me!! Not a problem really tho as we ate well at mealtimes. The drinks and the bar service was good. I wouldnt like to go self catering with a family as food seem to be quite expensive. We only went to one bar nearby(squash bar) as we mainly stayed at the hotel and the beach.
The beach is great for kids, really nice and clean too.
Not much in the way of entertainment at the hotel but the parrot show on a thursday is definately worth a look. There is an entertainment lady that works hard every night singing/karaoke etc which is funny to see after a few vodkas(the holidaymakers not her).
The apartments are ok for the price, spacious and clean but yeah they do need updating and i didnt enjoy our wonky toilet!!At the end of the day you only sleep and get clean in them, they fit the purpose.
Staff are all polite and most are friendly if you are ok with them.
All in all we had a great relaxing pool/beach holiday and for what we paid i thought it was well worth the money..i would go back to clube praia da rocha if i wanted another basic pool/beach holiday but would go elsewhere if wanted something a bit lively/busy.
As someone else has stated if 5 star is what your after go elsewhere and pay the money.

Me my partner 19 month old daughter mum and uncle have just returned from Club Praia Da Rocha and would never go back there again. Although the rooms were ok, the food was awuful. Nothing was eatable. On the first morning we went donwn for breakfast one of the options was mixed veg!!!! We paid for half borad but eat out for every meal. We went in to the resturant every evening to see was was on the menu. But walked back out. We had my 19 month old daughter with us who is not a fussy eater but there was nothing suitable for her to eat. We could not conplain as the staff didn't understand english very well. I have email Med Hotels complainig so lets see what they say. Holdays from Hell featured this hotel back in 2007 and I was assured by the travel agent that it had been upgraded and was alot better now, I saw no evidence of this. My review if you want a good hotels DONT GO HERE.
On the other side the resort of Praia Da Rocha was Brilliant

Had a great time here but it certainly is dated.. about 20 years too late... old tiles, apartments need lots of updating... but all in all... if u pay next to nothing then u get wot u pay for.... We was all inclusive and was not impressed with the restrictions of ice creams between 12 - 1 and 4 - 5 and snacks between 11-12 and 3-4.... never heard of this b4 when going all inclusive.... found certain staff very rude... but all in all... had a great time... no kids club as advertised, had to get up every morning at 8.30 to queue for our sunbeds which was bizzare as there was loads of room but the hotel did not have enough beds....food was not good but had read that before we left.. bit tight on the hotels part but it was only a 3 star !... but my daughter (6) had a lovely time..... and thats what made our holiday...
