Hotel La Quinta Roja

A real find, this gorgeous little hotel stands on the village square in the heart of Garachico, the ancient capital of Tenerife. Beautifully converted from a 17th century manor house, the Quinta Roja is built around a lovely galleried patio from which most of the rooms lead off. Whilst all modern conveniences have been added during the conversion, you still feel you are in an enchanting private home here with many original features combined with attentive service and a relaxing atmosphere. There is a fine restaurant, a quaint little bar, rooftop jacuzzi/sun terrace as well as a fascinating souvenir shop selling all kinds of interesting local artefacts. Garachico itself is a charming seaside village, with cobbled streets, pretty squares many fine restaurants and an impressive cultural programme in keeping with its ancient history. Just 100 metres from the hotel is a public Olympic-size swimming pool and a tennis court. It is also an excellent base for exploring the beautiful Orotava region, Teide National Park or even driving over the mountains and down to Los Gigantes
