Cornwall itself is a fantastic holiday destination. We chose to camp on our holiday to have a different experience, as when staying in a hotel, often the location is secondary to the style of accommodation. The village, St. Buryan, where the campsite is located, is very friendly and quiet; there is a nice pub in the centre of the village next to a church which serves good pub food, and inexpensive drinks, and also has a nice beer garden.
There is a little local shop where you can get bacon and milk etc, and overall is very nice. The campsite itself is very good. The owners are very friendly and show you to your pitch and the amenities to welcome you. The shower-block is clean and large so queues are rare. There is also a games room for the kids, a TV room and another smaller toilet-block at the far end of the site. The site caters for both families and couples.
There are several "fields" which vary in size and clientele so you can choose the noise levels, so to speak, though the campsites rules of quiet after 11 are mostly adhered to. There are also pitches for caravans, and some statics for those who prefer. However, when we were staying there, two of the tents were broken into, and items went missing. Apparently this had never happened before, and apart from that, I cannot fault the site.
Its location is key; it is only a few miles from gorgeous sandy beaches such as Porth Chapel and Porth Levan, and the most beautiful "Treen" beach, which is only accessible from a couple of miles walk across the cliff. The weather was fantastic when we visited, but even on grey days, you can always visit the varied shops of Penzance, or visit the Scilly Isles by Helicopter or boat for a fantastic day out. All in all, it was a fantastic UK holiday and I would recommend it for both families and couples.
