Tiniest airport at Taba, with very long q to get through the one passport control guard. Then onto coach via the 'porters' with their hands out for £1 coins.
Journey through desert to Hilton Taba about 40 minutes through desert and winding mountain roads.
on arrival at Hotel, coaches security checked and then they drive you to a building with another X-Ray machine and more queing, then your luggage taken upto reception while you walk up slight hill to reception. Checkin was friendly and then identify your luggage and porter brout to room within 5 minutes of us getting there.
I cannot say how friendly ALL of the staff were, from the maintenance man to the waiting and bar staff and everyone else you come across.
HIGHLY recommend the Casa Taba restaurant for at least one of your nights-it's not on the all inclusive, but we did get a 20% discount in there and the food and service were amazing. Food far superior to the buffet all inclusive.
They have 2 other very small restaurants, the nelsons is a more casual Tex Mex with a small menu on the all inclusive and the Marhaba serves a small menu of Egyptian and middle east style food. Both were a very nice change from the buffet, BUT you have to join a queue to get a reservation each day for these restuarants, and the 95% Russian guests do not always seem to understand the concept of polite queing! They seem to send one person to try and reserve 8 tables!! As the restauarants are very small that leaves little for anyone else.
The sea was lovely to snorkel and bathe in, and actually warmer than either of the pools which were very cold.
The quad biking excursion offered at the hotel was very good, but it's through a deep canyon, so even if its warm I suggest you take a sweatshirt or something.
Our room was very nicely looked after by our room boy. Nothing was ever too much trouble from the staff, who I sometimes felt got a raw deal from some of the Russian guests who did not seems to know how to say please or thanks in any language.
They did not however spoil our trip, and after a cloudy start the weather really picked up to a very nice 23 degrees every day and not a cloud in sight!
Nowhere to really go outside of the hotel, except if on organised sea or land excursions. Great location if you do want to pop over to Jordan or Israel though.
Tio Tip-take a few pound coins for tips at airport and remember that if you DO go into Israel you will have to pay a tax of about £8 when you cross back into the Sinai crossing on your way back to the airport.
Nothing worth buying at the airport.

We stayed here for 2 weeks over...

We stayed here for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year about 3 years ago and I feel I should write to balance out the remarks of another review on here. Absolutely all of the staff were wonderful.
The guests were made up of European, Arab and a few Russians. The non-European guests were fine. The only people we didn't like was a very unpleasant man in one party and a couple of happy but very drunk men in another. All three were English!
So unlike the other reviewer on here I found the guests from the Middle East to be just fine. When you consider it's quite a large hotel, the poor behaviour of just 3 people is miniscule.
The guest category is quite Hilton and I felt very safe and exceptionally welcomed by the staff who were excellent and made you feel like a friend on a visit.
The hotel was decorated beautifully for Christmas, the usual wonderful Hilton meals in a lovely dining room, occasional but good entertainment and an excellent pitch for visiting Petra in Jorden, Eilat and Jerusalem. Oh the other thing is the hotel is on the beach with some excellent snorkelling. Good spots for children too.
We are going back in 2007 to do a re-run.

We have stayed at Nelsons Village...

We have stayed at Nelsons Village four times in the past two years since the bomb. The staff are wonderful and helpful, they can not do enough for you. The restaurant is not operating to full capacity as of yet.
However if there is nothing on the set menu that you like the staff will get the chef to cook you something from the a la carte menu. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable. We always feel very safe there.
Since the bomb security has trebled, it is one of the safest hotels that we have stayed in.

We have been to the Taba Hilton...

We have been to the Taba Hilton twice, both occasions were the most relaxing and enjoyable holidays we have had. Someone told us Sharm was better so we went their, it was noisy and did not come up to the lovely holiday in Taba, as one of the other people said if you want to go into Eilat you can, there are plenty of taxis over the border, we even walked up to the Aquarium when we were there the last time.
We are in the process of booking again for this April, we missed not going last year due to the terrorists activity.
I think it is one of the safest places to go, we have never had any problems, there are always plenty of people who speak English at the desk.

Everything about the hotel is great -...

Sep 2004, Ms P Brook

Everything about the hotel is great - wonderful food, fantastic staff and service, wonderful location.
Nothing can beat sitting on your balcony or at the bar looking at Israel, Saudi and Jordan. Being so close to Eilat is a bonus if you want a bit of nightlife.
I have been to this hotel several times and will book and go again as soon as it is open following the car bomb.

First of all English tourist should...

First of all English tourist should be warned this hotel is right next to the Israel border. There is a casino in the hotel it is the largest in Egypt and as it is close to Jordan, Israel and Saudi Arabia it attracts these people.
I am not a racist in any way but I have never been so frightened in my life In the hotel there are no English reps.there were only a few English people, I went with my husband and three children.
On the first day we went to the pool. I had my safe key and room keys in my bag, I discovered that they were missing. The staff said they had been found I got them back. We thought no more about it.
In the evening having dinner I discovered my handbag was missing. I reported this to the staff they brought an Arabic lady to me and asked was she sitting next to me. I just did not answer because I was frightened she would do something. Later as I was going up the stairs I spotted this lady coming down I had hold of my daughters hand the lady pushed me she tried to push me down the stairs.
I sat up all night I did not feel safe. Next day at the beach the rep and hotel manager called me to the reception they said they had found my handbag they had search this women’s room I was guaranteed my safety as she was a nanny for a wealthy family that were staying in the hotel. Later she was sent home.
The whole holiday was a nightmare there were lots of things that happened too much to mention.
All in all British people should be aware that if they are going to Taba Hilton there are no British reps. And not many British people so you feel isolated they would not even get in the lift with us there were a few that would say hello but that was all. All the entertainment is in Egyptian they don’t cater for British people.

We have just returned from the most...

We have just returned from the most fab holiday at the Taba Hilton in Egypt - we upgraded our Mountain View room in the main hotel to the nelson village, a chalet 1 minute walk onto the beach, but still on the hotel complex.
The snorkelling was amazing with reefs all along the beach. The food was excellent and the staff really friendly and polite - they could not do enough for you. Weather was hot and sunny. We did a trip into Petra which was worth every penny with an excellent and informative guide the only drawback is the border crossings between Egypt and Israel and then Israel and Jordan - too many forms to fill in......
Egypt is a fab place to visit this is our third year we stayed in Taba Heights 2003 and Sharm el Sheik in 2002 - but this holiday was best of all.
