Entertainment was okay for children under 2, not couples. Hotel was clean but needs a complete refurbishment. Food was passable, but only just. Waitor service was good.Cannot understand why it has still got gold rating plaques from 2001 in reception.

we found this hotel in fig tree bay very nice. we got a lot of hotel for the money we paid. The hotel i situated only a few stairssteps from the main street. Negative things; - strange umidity-smell in our room - some nights high music in the hotelbar until late Positive things; - close to the beach and the main street - nice swimmingpool - clean rooms - fresh breakfastbuffe´ (you could also upgrade for all-inclusive) We would highly recommend this hotel to everybody who wants to have nice stay in fig-tree-bay. Fig-tree-bay was a very nice place and we can´t wait to go back there next summer. We had a great stay!!
Excellent Value for Money
Hotel is in an exclllent location 2 mins from the main street with all its bars and shops and only 5 mins from the beach. The pool is large with ample sun beds and lilos to go round. Breakfast was a choice of english or continental and the evening meal had plenty of choice. If eating out i can recommend the Nicholas restaurant with its first class local dishes and attentive staff.Unable to comment on the entertainment as we went out every night.Protaras has plenty of bars with a varity of acts some of which are top class and some which leave a lot to be desired. All in all a top class holiday.
good value
Arrived on the 19 Sept 07 with my wife and 2 year old daughter .for 1 week + 1 week at golden coast hotel (quiter location)The room was basic but clean..the aircon was a bit noisey our room was at the back of the hotel and the noise of the trafic was quite load at night The pool was large with sectioned off area for children .there were beds always available the sandy beach was a short walk away which my daughter loved .The buffet breakfast was very good, with large choice of continental or full english . the evening meals were ok salads and veg were fresh . some of the dishes with gravy or sauces were a bit bland . We did eat out a few nights as there are a lot of bars and resturants to choose from. overall we had a nice stay and would recomend the hotel for couples or families with kids under 3y ears old , as no kids club
great location
Arrived at the Antigoni early on 17 Sept first impression was o.k staff friendly enough corridors leading to the rooms looked a little shabby though, carpets were stained rooms were ok pretty basic but clean. The pool area was ok, quite a large sized pool with an abundance of beds, although the beds nearer the hotel were shaded by late afternoon at this time of year. The food was very good, nice english breakfasts with plenty of variety, evening meals were also very good with again plenty of variety did,nt stay for entertainment as we went into town centre every night which was superb, plenty of bars & restaurants, all right on the doorstep of the hotel. fig tree bay was about a 20 min walk away but protaras beach was nearer just as nice but quieter and less crowded than fig tree. All in all a great holiday lovely resort nice hotel great weather, but there are better looking hotels on the beach Constantinos the great and sunrise beach to name but 2
Beware the lack of representatives at this hotel
We have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel and felt we should warn subsequent visitors of the lack of agent representation here. Whilst staying at this hotel my 91 year old father sustained an accident on the steps of the hotel and was taken to the local accident clinic (ACROOS THE ROAD FROM HOTEL FORTUNATELY) by ambulance. On his return to the hotel nobody from the hotel made any enquireis regarding his well being and we had no contact from a rep at all the whole of the stay in Protaras. The hotel facilities are average however beware of taking anyone elderly as there are many steps and the single lift can be temperamental!
Great Hotel, Lovely location
Stayed at the Hotel Antigoni for 2 weeks in July. The hotel is in a great location, just off the main strip and only 5 minute walk to the beach. The staff are friendly, the room was clean and the food selection was really good & tasty. The hotel was not that busy, which meant there was loads of sunbeds and the pool didnt get that busy. Its no longer a adult only hotel, but while we were there it wasnt overun with children. Protarus is a great resort, lots to do, great beaches & loads of bars, would definately go back.
Great location
Just returned from a 2 week stay in Antigoni hotel and loved it! It's in a great location right in the centre of Protaras. The pool is the biggest pool I've ever had in a hotel but the only problam was that it was used by locals and people in surrounding hotels. The food was ok but not much imagination had gone into it as on a few nights there was things such as fish on the menu with stuff like pizza's and burgers but nothing to go with them. I've always said that a holiday is what you make of it and you make your own fun. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who isn't a fussy eater. Overall a very enjoyable stay with friendly staff. P.S entertainment wasn't up to much but in all fairness there was only one woman running it in a hotel dominated by adults wanting a quiet and relaxing holiday.
lovely clean hotel with good location
We have just returned home from a 2 week stay at the Antigoni. We had a great time here its in a great location at the top of the "strip" in protaras (the strip is one long main road that runs thru Protaras with all the bars and restaurants and shops along it). The Hotel is immaculately cleaned aswell as our room - quite spacious room but the balconies are tiny only just enough room for a small table and 2 chairs. The restaurant food is ok but by the 2nd week we were a bit fed up of it - if u like hot dinners with gravy every night u will love it however I was missing my chips!!! Lots of people tended to stay in the Hotel during the evening to watch the entertainment so they must have liked it however my partner and I found it a bit cheesy the only night we stayed in to watch it when Jinx were playing ( resident band) and did an Abba tribute and we had to leave early because it was so "cringey" but we are only 26yrs and 28 yrs old so just maybe not our taste - many of the other guests loved them and were buying their cd's!!! we found the best pubs on the strip to be the Square which is right opposite the hotel on the strip next to Mc Donalds and The Love Boat which is down the other end of the strip. There are lots of themed pubs - Friends, Only fools and Horses, Cheers, Stone henge, Robin Hood. A must though is a Japanese at the restaurant in Eden Square which is about halfway down the strip from the hotel, it was absolutely gorgeous and the chefs cook in front of u which was very entertaining! We also went to Perla Blu Restaurant which serves international cuisine as my partner wanted to try the Ostrich, I just had spag bol but it was lovely with very friendly staff. We also booked a 4WD trip to the Troodos Mountains we booked this with the company opposite the hotel for £29 including a meze lunch as with Thompson they were charging £36 without lunch for the same trip!! It was a fab day out and Id highly recommend it - and our guide George was absolutely fab. Well if you have booked to go to the Antigoni u wont b disappointed its a lovely hotel in a great location u will have a great time. Also the sweeping pool is huge with lots of sunbeds but does tend to get busy but we alsways managed to find a bed. Have fun!!
A very pleasant stay at the Antigoni
My wife and I stayed at the Antigoni from the 12th to the 26th June 2005. At the time of our stay the hotel was a Thomson Gold Hotel, (which meant that there were no children), which gave the hotel a calm and relaxed atmosphere. I understand that it will not be a Thomson Gold Hotel next year. The hotel was very pleasant, the rooms were clean and the maid service was excellent. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool is large and the sun terrace around the pool is very clean and well maintained. The pool bar was a good place to be at happy hour (between 3.30 to 4.30) and Mario behind the pool bar was a good guy and looked after us. We stayed on a half board basis and were pleasantly surprised by the good range of breakfast available with continental, cereal and cooked breakfast of a good standard. The evening meals were of a buffet style which provided plenty of choice. There was always something that I liked although I am not a fussy eater. There was also an a la carte restaurant and I am told this was excellent although we didn’t go. The restaurant in the sun terrace area, which is open for lunch, also provided very good food during the day and very generous portions, we had to share they were so big! During our time at the hotel the entertainment staff changed. The arrival of Dave and Ben to help the busy and hardworking young lady who was running the entertainment at the hotel was a breath of fresh air. The mood of the hotel totally lifted after the arrival of Ben and Dave, they worked so well together entertaining everyone and having a good time. The introduction of water polo was a masterstroke and kept players and spectators amused every afternoon. The water polo was such a success that even Mario in the pool bar took a break from his post and come to join in. The evening entertainment at the hotel was very good, there were two bands that played regularly and both were very good – Jinx is a four-piece band and were very talented, they played a particularly fantastic Abba tribute night. The house band was also very good; Tony on guitar was a top man and joined in a lot of the other entertainment at the hotel. We had a great time at the Antigoni and really enjoyed ourselves.
loved the pool
We went for two weeks at the begining of june 2004. We found the reception staff very pleasent, The entertainment staff were outstanding Ian and Gemma. The food in the resturant was not the best we have had the quality we found was quite poor, supposidly heinz beans (i don't think so) Not many dishes to choose from, the serving spoons were often left and food built up on them. The room itself was ok, disapointing was the fact that this hotel lacked double beds, we even heard a honeymoon couple complain about this. The balconey was very small just enough room to sit out on. The room was cleaned every day to a very high standard. The swimming pool was lovely no children plenty of room for swimming without swimming in to someone else, always plenty of sunloungers. The hotel is near the heart of the resort, so was not too noisy, just a short walk from the hotel takes you down to the strip, the main road. It was nice to be able to walk out late at night, we did not see any hooligans. One of the excursions was a trip to Cairo, cruise or fly, as it was a very special engagement holiday we wanted to make it special. We went on the trip to Cairo (by plane) we would never recomend to anyone, we were hastled to buy things by street people all day, even the police took money to have our photo taken, we were only at the pyramids for about half an hour, we felt that the whole excurssion was about trying to get us to spend our money, The cruise on the nile was infact just a trip up from the jetty, armed guard escorted us from the moment we got off the plane in egypt.
