Ok, in fairness I went about 12 months ago BUT I have to say, the hotel was clean (importantly)staff were friendly... Some a little too friendly after I was propositioned at the bar :/ Never mind! Food was not to my taste at all,and the best advice I can give you is to go and see 'fat Gaz' and the team at 'legends' down the road, best place I've been even in England, super friendly and we watched the world cup which was a huge laugh (until we lost). Anyway, back to the hotel, If you like to chill at the hotel then be prepared for some of the worst karoke I have ever heard (not from the guests- they actuatly PAY this man to drone on all night) I lasted about 5 minutes and ran down to legends! Also I wouldnt recommend the drinks as they made me ill on the first night. I know this because I was drinking at legends all week after and was fine. Overall, the hotel is GOOD, a standard 3* (I wish teletext would stop advertising hotels at 4* when they are actuatly 3*) with a good location- just over the road from the beach and a little gokart track (which is a bit crap lol its about a 30 metre circuit) good access to shops also, again, just don't go all inclusive, save your money go self catering! Also, WATCH THE BEACH AND THE SEA! The waves are literally 6 foot high and I got took out loads of times- great fun!

We had read the reviews before we went. The staff were really hardworking and friendly. A lot of people moan for moanings sake especially about the food. There is always something nice to eat if you are a foodie and like olives, chillies, soups, salads, fresh sardines and other fish. The big pan on the hotplate often has a decent paella or other spanish dish. If you are looking for British food then my advice is stay home. WE didn't have snacks but they are available between meals. Think outside the box and you may enjoy the food. We met some great people of different nationalities. The pool was fine and gets the sun until about 7ish at this time of year. The accomodation was clean and serviced everyday. We haven't any complaints and thought it was excellent value for money. Happy Holidaymakers x

I am a single mommy and took my 8 year old son and my 15 month old daughter to the planamar hotel in April all inclusive.
Although the hotel is quite basic (no kiddies play area) there is a lovely atmosphere there, very friendly and hard working staff.
Rooms are small, but do come with a tv with few English channels and a fridge (for free)
Food basic but lovely. You get what you pay for. I only paid £400 total cost of hol inc flights. Some people were complaining but to be honest i couldn't really fault it.
Bit noisy at night till about 11.30pm. Entertainment programme and kids club and shuttle bus to other hotels doesn't start until Easter week.
FANTASTIC location with the beach just across the road, brilliant shops right on door step, lovely walk up to santa susanna where you can dine and drink in another htop hotel - royal sun 4* and train station short walk away.
There is a glass lift that goes up a mountain nearby by for free too.
Overall a great holiday even as a single parent i had no problems with the hotel, staff, or location. Remember you get what you pay for.
Just enjoy the beautiful view and have a great holiday, a holiday is what you make it :)

When we first got to the hotel we thought that the lady at the desk was very plesent and nice. After we had looked around the resort we went back and went to look at our room it was really small and could hardly walk up and down the room. With two kids and two adults in one small room to fit through it dint work out very well. In the morning for breakfast we hardly ate anything as the food was discusting. When we tried dinner it was just the same all over and same for tea. My daughter lived off one small roll for tea and that was all she ate. I lived off a chip buttie or ham buttie. and my son and partner had lived off soup or chicken. The pool side was horrendous for towels as you could hardly have a sun spot with people who leave there towels on a sun bed and go else were for a little while. I will never go back to that hotel again and advise any one to not go there EVER as it is terrible. As for the staff there is one lady who is igronant and wont do anything until you complain as for some of the others they are just lazy and not polite at all...

We booked this hotel as it was the cheapest we could find and it was last minute but as it was a 3 star hotel and I often stay in 3 star accommodation we thought it would be fine. I did not expect a beautiful room, just a basic room we could have a decent nights sleep in. However, as we entered the room we were given on the second floor, we were disgusted to find how small it was. We had to side-step around the bed to get anywhere and it had a repulsive smell of damp. We were so disappointed and sat on the bed wondering what to do next. As we sat there we looked up and discovered a pair of ladies knickers hanging from the TV. We went down to reception and showed them a photo of what we found and to the receptionists credit she was lovely and understanding and immediately gave us a new, bigger and less smelly room. Unfortunately, this was the last of the good customer service from the staff. We found them very rude, lazy and most unhelpful especially when it came to trying to find out information about a bus service to take us to the airport. I was left very upset by the staff's attitude towards us and was relieved to be leaving the hotel. This was the only negative side to our holiday in Malgrat De Mar and we spent as little time as possible in the hotel area.

Back from this poor excuse for a hotel and have immediately raised a complaint with Barrhead Travel who had the poor sense to send me and my wife here. It is a complete dump, do not go here.
Staff - Terrible, all very unhappy especially the big receptionist who has the worst customer service skills I have ever seen. He is very angry with each holidaymaker that visits the hotel. Old furniture in the reception with rips and tears.
Food - ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE - THE WORST WE EVER EXPERIENCED. We had to eat out after two nights. They leave the bread and croissants out the night befotre (in an restaurant with no air conditioning). Everything is pre-cooked including the pasta. Also, they continually re-use food. One morning they served tuna pasties and another there were lots of courgettes! In the evening they spray the 'veg' with oil constantly. Chips are the only staple thing on the menu. Most people gave up on the food and had cips mosty lunchtimes and evenings. You will be lucky if yoy can get a sausage on the morning. The food is absolutely horrendous.
Beer/Coffee - Ok but with AI, it's only from 10am to 12am. You pay at all other times.
ROOMS - Old, dirty, walls paper thin. Our maid had a habit of cleaning our room each day with a dirty mop. We asked her not to clean with a dirty mop, so she took the huff and stopped. Beds are awful and about 30 years old. Also, the back of the hotel backs onto a buildig site with work going on from 6.30am each morning.
I've read a lot of reviews which say you get what you pay for. Well, I've been to a lot of three stars hotel on mainland Spain and the quality of this was not three star. Being generous, it is a 1 star.
Please, please avoid. You will have an awful holiday if you go here.

Well we have just come back from the planama hotel in malgrat de mar and we were really worried about the reveiws that we read before going, but i have to say that we didnt find any of the problems that we read about, the food was good, plenty of fresh salad, meat, fish, pasta every day. Plenty of deserts, and breakfast was eggs bacon beans tomatoes and saugages, toast, plenty of cereals, and fruit.i dont no what else people want from a 3 star, the entertainment in the evening was ok, the pool was fine, the rooms were adequate for what they were used for(sleeping) and i have to say that we didnt have any people that were drunk and rowdy at night while we were there. In fact the only thing that spoilt our holiday was ryanair, and the booking agency that we booked with, we were told to print our boarding passes before going (which we did) but i kept getting emails from ryanair asking me to book in, but to ignore it if i had already done that, i kept ringing the agent and saying they had sent another email about booking in, i ask several time are you sure that is all i have to do and was told yes dont worry about it, at the airport when i gave the boarding pass in to get on the plane i checked again and ask when they tore the bottom part of the boading pass off, was the part they gave me back the return flight and was told yes, but on returning i was told no i should have printed the return boarding pass before i left home, and had to pay £71 get get the boarding pass from there own computer, which i printed myself, so why i was charged for doing that i have no idea, so just bewere of ryanair and find out before you leave how to print the return boarding pass, because they dont tell you to do that when you print the outboard one.

We arrived early at the hotel before the room was available. We were booked in and shown to the luggage room. we were then given our free passes straight away so we could enjoy unlimited free drinks.
Our room was small and it smelt of sewage. A member of our party had a room next door and also had the same smell. Reported to reception who were extreemly apologetic and helpful. We were given the keys to 4+ rooms to see which ones we liked best. We were extreemly pleased with our new rooms. Very large and spacious.
The hotel its self is well situated, only 2 minutes from the beach. It is surrounded by shops but there are not that many bars, but going all inclusive with unlimited free drinks we did not feel we needed any.
All the hotel facilities were extreemly clean and well maintained. The staff were slightly rude but I put this down to exhaustion after getting to know some of them knowing that they work more than 16 hour shifts a day with only 1 day off a week. I'd be miserable too!!
The food was all edible, the only problem being that mostly it was always luke warm but they did provide a microwave if you wanted it really hot. The majority of the dishes I liked and I thought it was all good value for money. The snacks during meal times was always burgers, bacon and chips but I did not have a problem with this although I dont want to see another burger for a while!
Overall it is a good hotel and I'm looking forward to going again.

after reading the reviews we were a bit worried what we would find on arrival,we arrived around 11.30 pm and the man on reception was great with us,he even said that if we throw our bags in the room quickly that they would let us have some food from the restauraunt as long as it was before 12 o clock,we done this and even had time for a drink as the bar was open till 1 o clock, Next morning we went for breakfast and it was great, there was cereals, salads, bacon, sausages, fried eggs, beans,a toaster, various jams,as much juice as you could drink and tea or coffee,At tea time there was somthing different every day..i no it wasnt burning hot but it was never freezing cold, the maids came round everyday to change bedding and towels, the rooms are dated but you beds are comfy and clean and to be fair who spends there holiday in there room all day.its just some where you get changed and sleep.there is also free wifi in the reception area so if you have a laptop or a decent phone you wont have to pay to use the computers that are there, the pool is ok but you have to get there early as people just throw there towels on them then just go out for the day,but this isnt much of a problem as the beach is only a 5 minute walk away, there is plenty of shops for the woman as well, and there is an amazing shop that sells novelty swords and samouroi sets at very reasonable prices,we was worried about bringing them back but the man and woman at the shop gift wrap them at just make sure you put them in your case and not hand luggage and you wont have a problem, all in all we had a great week for the price we paid, just dont expect the ritz and if you have kids make sure you barter with the men who sell the flying toys and lazer pens outside the hotel on the evening as you can get every thing for 1 euro off them.
