Hotel Silken Puerta Malaga Reviews

Great Hotel. Modern, clean and friendly. Great proximity to the city, train and bus stations, beach and supermarket. Negatives include the fact that the room constantly smelt of smoke despite it being No Smoking throughout, the heating part of the Air Con not working, and... more

Fantastic hotel
The best hotel we stayed in throughout our trip. It has a very spacious lobby, and the rooms were really big and comfortable. Ditto for toilets, which had great stuff in it. Lovely spa on the top floor, which is free. And the front office staff is very helpful. Very clean, well appointed, sheets changed everyday, it has a safe deposit box, mini-bar, wine glasses, etc. We liked the location, as it is bang opposite the train and bus stations. So if you are using Malaga as a base to cover Costa del Sol, the location is great. About 15 minutes walk from the city, which is not bad, and there is a bus you can get below to take you there. A steal for 70 euros a night for a double.
great hotel!
it's a 4* hotel. very nice hall, clean and very confortable room. very clean bathroom. great set of stuffs in the bathroom ;-) the use of the jacuzzi at the 6th floor is free. the sauna the same but this works only from 16 to 22 each day. the parking cost 12.50 for 24h. the hotel is close to the train station ...go there to have a cheap breakfast! in the hotel cost 12 euros each! it's not in the center, center , but veeeeeeeery close... use taxi to reach it... it cost only 3.80 !!! the "travel" takes 3-4 min. the same to return to the hotel at night. there is a taxi parking near the cathedral.
Extremely nice place and cheaper than IBIS!
I booked this hotel only to have a quiet rest before a long trip towards the Portugal border and I was very impressed indeed. The hotel is only 1-2 years old, very stylish decoration, the room has every little detail (freebies are a delight), great choice for breakfast catering for both Spanish (myself) and foreign (my family) taste guests alike. Parking cost a little expensive (12 € extra per day) great choice for shopping and only 50 yards away from new railway station, shopping centre and coach station. Great connections for airport, bus and train leaving every 30 minutes from across the road and take 15 to 30 minutes to drop you off at airport at a cost of only 1-2 €uros per person. But the best of all was the roof top spa with a sauna and masseur (extra cost) and the jacuzzi-solaurim and jet showers free for guests!
Pleasant and observant receptionist
An excellant hotel with a very pleasant and observant receptionist. On checking in and handing over my passport she noticed that it was my birthday. She wished me a happy birthday and I and my wife thought nothing more of it. Later on however a knock on our door and we were presented with a complimentary bottle of champagne with canopies. A marvelous touch that made our day. The hotel itself is first rate, modern, clean, comfortable with spacious rooms. The bathroom contains all the toiletries that anyone would require including razor, tooth brush and fluffy white towels. Plenty of hot water for the bath (wife) and shower (me). We were only on B and B terms so only ate breakfast, but once again this was first rate. Plenty of choice, hot - eggs, bacon, sausages tomatoes etc. cold - cheeses, hams, fruits to doughnuts and various pastries with the usual variety of different rolls, breads and juices. The television in the rooms only has two english speaking channels, CNN and Eurosport. There is a large supermarket across a walkway from the front of the hotel, very handy if you require that odd little thing. The hotel is situated about a three minute walk from the main railway station and about a fifteen to twenty minute walk to the centre of town. The area is safe and there are no problems in walking this distance even late at night. My only complaint is the charge for parking cars. There is a large underground car park but they charge twelve and a half euros per twenty four stay.
Very Good
Very nice hotel, and literally a 2 minute walk from the train station. The hotel itself was clean, rooms are big, bathroom excellent. Staff were nice to us, and even entertained our pidgin Spanish! Bit of a hike from the City Centre, but thats no complaint. Would certainly use this place again if i have to overnight in Malaga.
Spacious, Cleam Modern Hotel
Great location, Spacious clean modern rooms, friendly helpful staff. Walking distance into town and car parking. Spaciouys, airy feel. Recommended.
Trendy and Cheerful
Malaga itself is to be avoided, but if you have to go (my wife and I were flying out of the airport the next morning), this place is reasonably priced, safe, clean and reasonably trendy. The rooms are nice, modern and quiet. The busloads of Italian tourists are everywhere around the hotel, but the floors are usually quiet. Best of all the grocery store is next door, which means that all snacks and drinks are within easy reach. Overall, a pretty nice place, especially if you are only there for a night.
Excellent
Booked this hotel, short notice to be close to the airport. It was excellent value for money. beautifully decorated, Very up to date, free internet access in room. Food very good quality, staff very helpfful. No faults. Opposite train station. 1.20 euro to and from airport. Station Malaga Renfe, stop before Malaga Central. Taxi charged minimum 15 euro!!! Near to beach and port and lovely tapas bars. Commercial area but close to Malaga Centre.
Good Rates and More!
We stayed at this 4-star hotel with a group of 25 students from Switzerland at the end of May. A few of the good things about this hotel are the poximity to the Train Station (literally across the street) for people arriving from the airport and travelling on to other locations, some very low room rates, modern air-conditioning, nice ammenities including in-room stuff and spa, very friendly staff, good food and bar prices, generally spacious, and cheap taxi rides to the center(4-5 Euros) or out to the nicer beach areas for sun and dinning (8-9 Euros). This place is perfect for groups with large meeting areas in the lobby and a decent breakfast at reasonable hours. Other reviews mention noise but this place was no worse than other hotels in Europe. As is common in Europe hotels you can hear most of what goes on in the hallways, and some of the sounds from the room next to you. Close the windows (you have to in order to for the A/C to start), turn on the A/C, and noise from outside will be very little (especially if you have a room on the side not facing the train station). You may not like the view or ever open your curtains if you have a room (in the 20's-30's range) on the back-side of the hotel though because they look right into to the apartments behind the hotel. If you are here for two or more nights you should make sure you spend one evening out around the Constitution Plaza in the center of town and one evening out at the Playa Pedregalejo (beach/dinning/bars) on the edge of town. Taxis in this town are cheap and pretty much readily-available, even out by the beach.
Far to noisy
This hotel, not the most central, is located by the train station in Malaga about a 20 minute walk to Larios Street which is considered the centre of the city. The hotel is very nice in appearance and would definitely meet its 4 star requirements. The bedooms are spacious and well equipped. However they have, I found, a serious problem with sound-proofing. I found my hotel room (room 506), despite being on the 5th floor, to be extremely noisy. The windows do not provide any barrier to traffic noise and the walls between each room again do not provide adequate sound-proofing. You can clearly hear your neighbours. Also between the electric socket above the bedside table in my room and that in my neighbours room, the sound was transmitted very clearly. It was as if we were in the same room. The bedroom floors are made of a light wood (the inexpensive type that comes flat in a kit which folds out) and therefore when walked on with shoes or heels is very noisy. We stayed here only 1 night and got about 2 - 3 hours of disturbed sleep between the noise of the traffic and the activities of our neighbours. Much as I liked the appearance of the hotel, I would not stay here again.
