first impression was really good. seemed so grand when u first walked in. walking up to the corridors i noticed some parts were coming apart and or half fininshed. room was ok but after a few days all the animal print drove me mad.
the staff were so misrable.. except for the cleaning ladies they were lovely. the staff around the pool area.. as soon as u sat in the wrong place they jumped on u telling u to move. they were very rude.
beware crossing the bride over the pool.. u might break a leg or something.
there was no entertainment at all in the evening.
a little girl drowned when we were there in the pool.. it was a horrible experience. the life guards didnt have a clue.. 1 life guard actually shrugged his shoulders when a man shouted off him to warn him. they didnt have a clue. lucky for the little girl there was an english paramedic sunbathing next to us. he revived her thank god.
i would not recoment this hotel to anyone though the resort is really good. beach is gorgous and so much to do.
ps.. make sure u have change when u go to the nearby supermarket.. u will get the look of death if u hand them a note. and watch out for a gipsy woman selling fruit out of a basket.. she will rob u blind.
i wouldnt recomend this hotel to anyone.. especially if u have children. the life guards are totally useless and the pool was so busy all the time.. to risky if u ask me.

I have been on holidays for about 10 years now and I have got to say it is the best place I have ever been to! Strongly recommended!! Although the food wasn't very nice everything else was brill and a few ignorant staff! We were lucky enough to get a view over looking the sea was brilliant!! But I was really disappointed there was hardly any english people so didn't really get any friends! I am going back to this hotel this year and I cannot wait, really excited and don't take any notice of all them bad comments, it was absolutely amazing and the number of shops!! ahhhhh I just loved the place!
Strongly recommended! 10 out of 10
Top klss and rooms were brilliant!

Read all the reviews and was nervous about staying there, but honestly nothing to worry about, the hotel is wonderful. The receptionist on check in was a bit frosty, but that's the only time we dealt with her. The room was immaculate, towels and bedding changed regularly, toilets spotless. sunbeds were a bit of a problem, if you left your towels on a bed the lifeguard folded it up after an hour of you going, and then took it away altogether after another half hour.
The food was fine, meals are in two sittings so you will always get a seat. Good choice of food, a bit repetitive but fine, not 5 star by any means but we ate there every day, mostly stews and baked fish, but lots of pasta, veg, salads and fruit galore. Food was never cold as some reviews said.
I am glad I didn't listen to the bad reviews, we had a wonderful holiday at the Victoria Palace and would recommend it to anyone. The staff may appear ignorant because they don't speak much english but we never had a problem with them at all, they always smiled and said hello.

The Victoria Palace Hotel; breath taking and magnificent are the only words that I can use to describe it.
Its gold framework shimmers delicately in the liquid sun, adding to the warmth of its welcome. Over the bridge and the crystal water to the safari themed reception where the chandelier and the two sided staircases overwhelm your senses, it’s beautiful. You really do have to see it to believe it. The gold and black interior halls lead you to the spa, the sun bed rooms, the gym and the pool room all circulated around the safari bar. Its lively atmosphere makes it impossible to resist.
Back out and down to the other side of the bridge is the Victoria Palace Residence beach, your feet simply sink into the golden sands leading into the refreshing sea. Looking up you can now see the outstanding view of the whole hotel, the hotel that in all truth and honesty really is a palace that overwhelms the beauty of any place that you have ever seen before. Victoria Palace is just magical, the architecture of the place is a fantasy, and it is indescribably picturesque. The domes at either side are the two mirrored lifts that escalate you to the rooms that can only be described as luxurious and grand; with balconies that offer outrageously wonderful sights. At meal times the restaurant has simply tantalising ranges of unique Bulgarian cuisine to offer, either to eat in the luxury of the restaurant itself or on the hotel promenade with delicately curtained sofas and candle lit tables.
The staff simply add to the pleasure of your stay, always willing to help and offer advice on what other faultlessly wonderful sights that Bulgaria has to offer. This hotel is far from what would be expected for the holiday destination that is typically described as the British seaside resort. The Bulgarian staff at the hotel were residents there and were always taking into consideration the thoughts of others. This added to the homely environment of the hotel that all the guests there were proud to call home for the duration of their stays.

This hotel was the best we have ever been to, brilliant, good food great pool and spa.
People were moaning about lack of sunbeds, well my advice is get out of your bed in a morning.
Met a couple from Glasgow who were very nice (rangers fans) Wanted to go back but been 2 years on the trot.
Staff nice and room service very very good. One bit of advice, jump on the mini train and go to Evos bar a very good Bulgarian rangers die hard, who serves up a great pint of lager from an ice cold glass. We will be back, Brian & Helen.

When we arrived at this hotel, it took our breath away, an absolutely stunning hotel. We were there for 2 weeks and enjoyed every minute of it.
The food was brilliant and the staff were so friendly.
We enjoyed the holiday that much we have booked up to go again in 2008, back to Victoria Palace.

I was really worried when I read all the negative reports, they were totally misleading, the place was immaculate, people staff etc always smiling.
Even tried my hand at a bit of Bulgarian food. While not world class was warm edible and varied.
If you want sausages like back home then I suggest you holiday in Skegness.
The room was always clean and a couple of lev go a long way with the maids.
All in all I will return and would recommend it to other people.

Just returned from Sunny Beach 13 Oct 2007.
I would not advise anyone to go in October as the place shuts, all the bars get boarded up, most of the hotels begin to shut, there is nothing to do. People wander round like lost souls trying to find places to go.
Stayed at the Victoria Palace looks great from the outside, the rooms large and we had a great view over the pool and the beach.
But meal times were a bit different, most of the crockery was chipped or non-existent, tea spoons were plastic ice-cream spoons, the choice of food was more or less the same every day. The restaurant staff were the most sour faced people I have ever seen except for small blonde who was the only one who smiled. Two of the waiters were fighting during breakfast which turned out to be the only entertainment in the hotel.
Four days before the end of the holiday they shut the poolside bar and started to remove the furniture from around people. It was the first time I have been away and complained to a rep along with a lot of other guests, but it just seemed to be a waste of breath.
So if you are thinking of going in October don’t and don’t stay at the Victoria Palace.

Stayed at the hotel 24th Sept for a week... fantastic hotel! Would definitely go back again.
Staff were a bit rude. Hotel and room were lovely. Bit of an upgrade from my normal hotel. ( abit too much leopard print though!).
I can see what people mean about the knife and forks at breakfast time!
Everything very cheap there, even got a tattoo done. Would recommend the golf buggies and the mini train.
Overall a good holiday.

Hotel was beautiful - however, staff were rude and arrogant. Food was tepid, and trying to find a knife, fork, or any kind of spoon was a nightmare.
Too few sunbeds for the amount of guests, and quite a number of them were broken.
I would never return to this hotel.

I went to this hotel with my partner and daughter i would never go back. I was always scared to let her walk about incase she broke anything and the staff where never friendly. And after 2 days i moved round to the sunset hotel it was great the victoria palace is no good if youth have kids. And in the victoria palace they put me on the fourth floor with a balcony and when i went outside to see it there was a big gap were my daughter could have fell i had to put a chair up against it so she couldnt get through it.
