Stayed at Hotel L'Etoile
We stayed at the L'Etoile Icmeler, and all I can say is anyone who complained about the food, the standard of the hotel or the staff must be well used to superstar treatment!! It was one of the cleanest, well ran, with friendliest staff that I have ever stayed in, and I have travelled to a few destinations over the years. The food was more than acceptable, the drinks were rare, and the staff could not do enough to help. It was immaculate and excellent value for money (we paid £250 all inc. for a week). I had read reviews of how friendly the locals were, but to be honest you can not appreciate this until you go!! .. We made so many friends there and like many people will return again very soon!! .. In particular the Irish Bar ran by Josef, Mahone and Irfan is absolutely great .. Do visit .. and say hi from the "Scottish girls!" It's down the bottom from the square .. you'll recognise it by the fireworks and party nights .. Grease show, Tina Turner .. hilarious!! .. The sports bar is also excellent .. and if you only visit one restaurant .. make it the Love Boat . it is an experience all women should have at least once in their lifetime!!! .. We hated the market .. too much hassle .. but if you can cope with it many bargains to be had!!! All in all .... It's a gem of a place ..... You'll love it!!!!!!
loved it
went june 06 fantastic hotel staff brill food out of this world location superb booked again for june 07 dont believe all write ups see for yourself cant fault it one bit
The accomodation was great, but not young people friendly.
The hotel was okay with helpful staff, and in particular the Thomas Cook staff, following 2 of my party becoming ill. This wasnt the hotels fault, but rather blood pressure problems, and a friend whose guts couldnt process all of the food he was putting away. In this vain, the turkish private health system is rumoured to be one of the best in the world, and i can safely say it was good. Although make sure youre insurance is top cover, and that you take into accont pre-existing conditions, if any. Back to the hotel, it was good with rooms of a decent standard. Although the food halls and menus were regimented, and not much for us delicate brits to eat. Although in this vain, we went out alot, and with a T Bone steak meal working out at around £7, who were we to argue. We had this meal at the Lighthouse Restaurant, (out of the hotel, turn right and follow the road up, and its at the back of the cash machines on the street). I took my fiance and friends there for her birthday meal, and the staff couldnt do enough. Where the problem occured were that 3 4 in my party are aged 24 to 28, and this didnt bode well with the older guests. We did feel alienated against, and tarred with the label of drunken brits, although this wasnt true of us. Sure, we like a few drinks, but acted with decorum. So, if youre a younger traveller, this hotel probably wouldnt be for you.
hotel fab if your german!!
hotel was ok.definately not 4 star. food was awful!ok if you liked stews.anything that was left over from breakfast was thrown cold onto salad table at lunch! meats were just the same only covered in different sauces. lot of guests complained of upset stomach. to me everything was catered for the germans!! definately wont go back to l'etoile
Great staff, basic hotel, not 4* as stated in brochure
Rooms: Basic for 4*, air con switched off at night so woke up at 6am very morning sweating....bathroom ok as showers never ran cold !! Only one hard pillow and awful waffle blankets !! Staff: Excellent, friendly and polite. As soon as you used an ashtray they replaced it with a clean one!! Cannot fault the staff at all, very high standards Food: After day 5 we ate out (2 weeks all inc) as fed up of eating same food all time. Meat was undercooked. Pancakes for breaky were the best ever though !! Entertainment: Awful. 3 badly singing men sang in rotation. They were like something bad off X factor !! Nothing for kids apart from 20 mins dancing to exactly same songs every night Location: Great. 2 mins from beach (single though) and 2 mins from bars & restaurants & shops. Great location Facilites: Pool was ok but abit small for size of hotel. 1 pool table (mind of its own) and 2 billiard tables (who plays nowadays??) and 1 table tennis table. Would go to the resort of Ichmeler again but not Letoile hotel
loved it!
After reading reviews on this hotel, i was dreading my holiday. to my great delight, i absolutely loved it. The rooms were okay, only average but the facilities were fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed the food at every meal, the service was immpecable, the staff were friendly and efficient, it was very clean and in an excellent location. I am looking forward to going back to ichmeler and the same hotel. Everyone we spoke to felt the same. I would definitely recommend this hotel to couples and friends, and small families.
Great!
We went in July 2005 and are going back next week. We really liked it. We're both in our late 20's and found the hotel, food, location really good. The people at the hotel were really friendly and made you feel welcome. 1 criticism would be the centrally controlled air con but going in June it's not too bad at night and bearable to sleep. Location is spot on
fabalous place to stay
very friendly atmosphere and staff, delicious food can be found anytime for free, drinks (including Efes beer and Turkish Rocky) is free, nice swimming pool till 5pm, clean and big rooms, close to the beach, plenty of things to do in Icmeler and also Marmaris (especially the bar street is wonderful). what can I say anything else? I was totally satisfied...
prime location
stayed at letoile twice and going back again in june fab hotel and in a prime location . the staff are very helpful and it is spotlessly clean .food is good and plenty of it . they need to work on the entertainment though as very poor. i would not recommend it for children as they dont seem to be catered for. but great for couples.we always stay there in june and have a cheaper holiday in october with the grandson as we love icmeler so much . best place to eat out and fun is the florida bar jack the owner and ali head waiter and all the rest of staff are superb you just get addicted to the place.
Good hotel, but not a Great 4 Star
Just back from 2 weeks end July/early Aug 2005. First time to Turkey, what a fabulous place and what stunning geography. Booked the L'Etoile as it offered a very reasonable All Inclusive price through Thomas Cook, and as a single parent Dad with two teenagers I do like All Inclusive A LOT! Icmeler does have some much nicer looking 4 star hotels (the Marti and Marti Perla in particular both looked fabulous, but so much more expensive and not All Incl) but I have to say that the L'Etoile wasn't a bad poorer cousin. The pool's a bit small for the size of the hotel, the Air Conditioning's rubbish, especially in the bedrooms - we had to leave ours on all night and even then it wasn't that cool (it's a very hot place in July/Aug 24 hrs a day). Biggest problem is that the ground floor boasts a lot of glass patio doors and the hotel leaves them open all the time, rendering the air con throughout pretty much useless. The night entertainment's rather basic too, so don't expect any "shows" like the 4 stars in Cyprus and Spain etc, but there's plenty of places around and about and plenty of bars/restaurants with Sky Sports so don't worry fellas, you shouldn't miss any games! The hotel room TV seems to only offer one channel in English - BBC Prime - but at least that keeps you out of it and socialising! The plumbing's ok but the bathrooms are a bit small. Two people and they're crowded. As usual, not enough sunbeds, so prepare your 7am alarm if you want to get down and stake your claim with your towels. Am I putting you off? Wait, it's not all bad....the food's excellent, the staff are terrific, the seating areas are comfortable, and you're 30 seconds from the beach with plenty of jet-skiing and parasailing to be had (about 40 lira each per person), so position-wise in the resort it's perfect. If you get stuck in a room overlooking the hotel next door it's worth complaining. We started out in room 220, I told them I'd asked for a pool as well as sea view (couldn't remember to be honest, but said I had anyway), and day two they moved us up to 404 - a perfect view of everything. With people checking in and out almost daily you don't need to feel miserable if your room's got an awful view, tell them and they're more than happy to accommodate what you want if you show patience with them. Now, would we go back? Definitely to Icmeler, and definitely to L'Etoile unless we fancied trading up in quality but down in food/drink arrangements from All Incl.
