My partner and I visited Zante in September 2006 and stayed at the Admirals Hotel. We booked it through Thomas Cook as I had some vouchers for there and just wanted a cheap week away from the dreary UK. Upon arrival we were allocated to our room on the 2nd floor, upon... more

room 109 !!!
given keys to room 109. It was horrendous, with broken tiles cupboards etc. The view was of a wall not 8 feet from the edge of the balcony. Shall not be returning to this tired hotel or this horrendous resort.
lovely people!!!!
i just got back from the Admiral. it wasnt the best of hotels i stayed in but the staff there were so so so kind espeshially the assistant manager yannis.(the younger one)he was very friendly and so funny. he helped to sort out any minor problems we had. he was very caring. i would go back to the hotel just to be in his company.ive never met such a caring person as him. he was just totally wicked.
nightmare
Don't waste your money. Nightmare from hell. The admiral appears to have have a band of followers who keep going back, Why? it is a noisy, dirty place, with empty beer glasses scattered by the pool side, and noise till the early hours, no sunbeds (unless you get up a 7.30). I wish I had read the bad reviews before I went because I would have changed the holiday (which was not cheap.) Take my advice and that of others who have written VERY honest bad reviws about this place everyone calls Butlins,(an insult to Butlins.) leave well alone. Visit Zante IT is A truely beautiful island but STAY elsewhere.
Hated the admiral
We stayed at the admiral in October 2004 with our daughter then 6. The appartment we were put into originally was disgusting and we refused to stay there. We were transferred to another appartment which was bigger but no cleaner - we were told that if they needed the room they would put us back to the original one and move our belongings themselves if we were not in !!! The appartments were very 1970's and were very basic and dirty, drains over flowed constantly. The noise at night was awful as they partied in the bar. We used it as a base only and hired a car to leave the area completely. As another reviewer said this is just like Butlins only worse. The airport also cannot cope with the passengers that travel through it. We expected history and culture but it was all just horrible hotels and appartments - not lovely white villages etc as expected. Did make an official complaint via our rep but we never received any reply or feedback. Will not return.
Up the bank!
Well, hello holiday makers!! Stayed here first two weeks in August 2005 with the family. There was a mix up with the rooms which did ruin our stay somewhat, and this problem wasn't fixed at all. We asked for two apartments next to one another on the ground floor and got first floor with apartments between us, not a good start. So we were all cramped into one apartment with a mattress on the floor for one of the kids.Air conditioning available at an extra charge, not in all of the rooms though. Rooms were basic, but clean and reasonable and with a balcony. Anyway, the hotel staff were friendly enough and seemed to be all young ladies ( around early twenties), so lots of fun and laughter all around. The entertainment during the day was very much the same, table tennis, killer pool, and water polo. Ok for the kids. The sun loungers were very cramped around the pool and a case of get down with your towel early. Evening entertainment a bit poor. Bingo, quizzes, hotel staff singing, not very good really. Not very organised at all. The restaurant was ok, more of a cafe really, food quite reasonable thought. Pizza, salads, omlettes, chips, burgers, greek food and sunday dinners!! The hotel was up a bank and it was only a 20 meter walk down to first restaurant and shop, then there were plenty of shops restaurants and cafes. The main beach was not too great,or big but you could walk to others beaches which were better. We all had a great time and the kids loved it.
Drunken Yobs
If you like Butlins you will love Admirals.......Dont go there if you want to see abit of Greek culture...all your see is English yobs and a dirty filthy pool a breeding ground for infections. The room were really small but vey clean the cleaners were really friendly but the other staff moody. The Reps were very unprofessional....not a great holiday but the island is beautiful...we would visit again but NOT IN ADMIRALS, why people come back...heavens knows.
Sleep deprivation
My wife and I stayed at the Admirals for two weeks during that time we did not have more than two hours sleep on end at any time!!!! If you are the sort of person who goes off of an evening and leaves the kids ages 6 up to their own devices until early morning and can live with 24 hour racket then this is the place for you
Don't go there
Truely awful! There are people who return to this place year after year because it is the only place that will tolerate their appaling behaviour - kids playing football around the pool till 1 am only to be replaced by drunken adults jumping the pool. Don't think you might be lucky and get a quiet room - there isn't one. As for the 'aparments' they are no bigger than your average double bedroom - certainly not comfortable for 4 people + they are hot and stuffy (no air-con). The bathroom is tiny and don't even try to cater for yourself - the odd cup of tea maybe but for anything else go out into the resort - the food at admirals is poor. There is just no space here - the pool is overcrowded - there are no gardens or grounds - it is just constant noise and discomfort. I took 2 teenagers and they hated it as well. I have never been anywhere as bad as this.
Very Friedly hotel, good value for money
We visited The Admirals in August and had a really good time, the staff were absolutley great, the entertainments team (Sammy & Paul) tried really hard to get people involved and help them to enjoy themselves, the reception staff (Grace & Maria) couldn't have been more helpful and the bar staff (Nicky & Brian) were really nice too. The apartments are basic as is everything in Greece but afterall its only somewhere to lay your head and was kept clean by the maids. The pool was average size and admittidly could get busy but if you want a quieter pool you are welcome to use the facilities at The Captains or The Commodore. There is an extensive choice of restaurants and bars around so there should be something to suit everyone. Try The Red Lion for good food, atmosphere and football coverage.
if you like mouldy bread and scum lines around the pool then this is the place for you
we travelled to these apartments with JMC their review was a lovely family hotel with nice food and stunning pool......... i dont think so the bread and food was mouldy the pool had everyones scum around the edge and all young couples wanting to party the night away till the early hours. I wouldnt reccommend anyone to stay here or travel with JMC as thier brochures do not tell the truth.
