Booked a cheap second holiday in September, after reading reviews we were a bit dubious, but were pleasantly surprised.
This was one of the friendliest places we have ever been, full of Spaniards on holiday who were always polite, friendly and really helpful.
Room was great, spotless and plenty of space. Some parts of the hotel were a bit run down, but for the price we paid it was excellent value and would definitely return for a value holiday.
Food was great too. Thanks to Best Indalo.
Only down side was the tour reps; extremely poor service in the resort, had to make a complaint.

Having been to a few hotels in Mojacar over the last couple of years, we shouldn't have been too surprised by the dodgy food!
The hotel is very clean and the beds are made every day and the room cleaned.
The desk staff are very pleasant and helpful but the restaurant staff are not too fond of speaking to you apart from one chap who isn't even Spanish!
If you like badly cooked lukewarm food every day then this is the hotel for you!!
This hotel, as well as others in Mojacar cater for Spanish pensioners who, apart from being very rude, devour food like a cloud of locusts.
Evening entertainment is solely bingo and if you’re Spanish lends itself to knowing the numbers then you can join in!
You definitely need a car if you go this time of year as there isn't a lot to do as a lot of bars etc. are still closed. Enjoy!

Our holiday was 2 weeks half board £330 each July 2006.
The Hotel Indalo is a place for families and couples. Those wanting a lively time have come to the wrong place.
My boyfriend and I (in our early 20s) went there as we wanted a relaxing 2 week break (no lager louts!). We were nervous as we hadn’t booked through teletext before but were very impressed when nothing fell apart!
Mojocar itself is tiny and basic. We had travelled the place within 2 days. The city centre is so small we drove right past it and didn’t realise what it was! As a resort, we will not be returning to Mojocar as it is far too small.
We attempted to hire a car but unfortunately you can only hire one if you are over 25. The natural park looked fabulous and it was very disappointing as we could not get there (there are no buses and travel by car is the only way). There are absolutely wonderful beaches, dolphins, and hardly anyone around at all.
We got a coach to Garucha and Vera. Not much to see to be honest (Garucha beach is ok but the beach outside the hotel is by far the best around). Honestly, there is nothing else to see apart from the Water park in Vera.
The hotel itself was lovely. Very large and especially caters for families but we were very happy there. The rooms are large and we had 2 double beds! Bathroom above average and rooms cleaned every day. The only drama we had was an infestation of cockroaches. On the 3rd day we had tiny cockroaches crawling all over our toothbrushes and toiletries in the bathroom. We complained and they moved us straight away, no fuss. I really think this was a once off and in hot countries you have to accept the fact that these things occasionally happen!
The food was plentiful and there was a huge range every night. There were cheese nights, sausage nights, pasta nights. Very impressed. Breakfast was my favourite as there was everything from fresh croissants to English breakfast to yogurts to pancakes to cereal. And there was always a huge pile of fruit. We were very relieved as we went half board-but the food was lovely. The waiters and waitresses work their bums off compared to those in the UK!
The pool was a little small but did the job. Being right on the beach was great and we spent most of our time there. Lovely. Watch out for the jellyfish though (they come out when it’s cloudy-my boyfriend got stung twice!).
There are a lovely selection of restaurants and bars. We highly recommend 'Smugglers' (amazing food-try the steak with blue cheese sauce!) and the jazz bar 'Sax on the beach'.
The only downfall of the hotel was that it was very Spanish. When we first arrived (before the Brits break up for school hols) we were probably one of the 10 British people there. Towards the end of our holiday however it started changing. You do get the impression some Spanish do not like the Brits (we felt that at times but only prob because of the reputation we have). Once they could see we were not lager louts they were fine.
PS: if you are hiring a car there is absolutely NO space to park outside the hotel and on road. The cars are covered in scrapes-the Spanish do really use the whole sense of the word 'bumper!'.
Overall, a very pleasant holiday for us but we did run out of things to do very quickly.

Very friendly hotel, with staff that took the time and effort to help. The rooms where of excellent standard, and a very high standard of cleaning.
The facilities where good and again keep to a very good standard. It was let down dinning room. The food was below average standard, served at a buffet. The waiting staff where very unfriendly, and very quick to remove your plate, even when not finished with. The drinks served at the meals must be paid for at the end of the meal. As this is stated on a very small sign, in an out of the way place.
It is easy to assume that when they take your room number with the order that it will go on your bill. That is until the head waiter, grabs you to pay in front of the other guests. The resort is a great base for using the train, boat to visit all the resorts along the coast.

I have been to this resort twice now and have loved it to bits. Its a very relaxing area with lots of families and children taking the more "family" orientated accommodation a couple of miles down the coast which left this area very peaceful and "kid-free".
Garucha is a quaint fishing town further along the coast reachable by a pleasant and regular bus ride and a definite must see as you can watch the fishermen come into port and watch them selling their catch at the fishing markets... well worth a see!
The beaches are unspoilt and there is so much to do - all you have to do is get there and enjoy it. At the Indalo hotel, they did turn off the air conditioning but it didn’t spoil the holiday at all as the heat is not of the humid type but very pleasant indeed.... a far cry from the British Summer indeed.
If you get the chance, definitely go into the mountain towns and shop around, we found so many bargains especially in the markets which were quite riveting not to mention eating out, you are simply spoilt for choice and for food!!
I loved every moment of this holiday and I will definitely be returning there again at some point in the future........ highly recommended to all!!!

Very pleasant Hotel, full of mostly Spanish but several British People.
The food was good - buffet style breakfast and evening meal.
The staff were friendly, we took our 3 year old son with us and the staff really seemed to make a fuss of him.
The only drawback was that they switched off the air conditioning at the end of September and it was still very hot!
Parking at the hotel was difficult - there was a fountain, which everybody parked around and tended not to give much space for manoeuvre. Several of the cars seemed to get scraped - possibly by people leaving the car park.
Mojacar has a lovely beach and lots of small restaurant s and bars.
There seems to be a sizable number of ex pat although it has not lost any of its Spanish ness it is a favourite destination of the Spanish.

Hotel is not up to standard and is well dated. Rooms are dirty, air conditioning was broken. During our stay we had two rooms, both of which smelt intermittently of sewerage. The restaurant was not clean, with dirty plates and cutlery at every sitting. Hotel is geared up for Spaniards of which the clientele is approximately 95%. There are no towels by the pool and no hairdryers in the rooms. Sunbeds are well worn and most are broken as are sun shades (if you are lucky enough to find one!). Staff are not overly friendly and the hotel simply does not cater for the English. Vegetarian options are virtually non-existant. Would definitely not recommend to anyone. We were so disappointed we flew back to UK one week early.
