An ideal location - superb setting with three good sized pools and safe surrounds for children
Holiday club run by hotel for nippers , typically spanish orientated though
Gets too busy at meal times for capacity in dining room although once inside food is hot and can be very good.Great selection of salads and cold meats.
Hotel was terrific five years ago but is more geared for spanish clients these days
Evening entertainment is enjoyable although tedious at times waiting for a translation to English.
Not a singles holiday and you may be greeted by over indulgent essex house wives who sag not so nicely and think showing there white bits is funny ( no "m" its gross )and are married to unintelligent ford escort lovers with push along lawn mowers. squeeek !!!!!

I have spent a very relaxing and enjoyable week at the Green Oasis complex. The worst of my holliday was some english rude families that often you can find there. they make a lot of noise even during the night. Maybe it was that week. The animation was poor ut was only for the kids - mostly. They ave 3 pools ad if yo want to relax choose the C zone - more quiet - you don't even have music on the loudspeakers.
The staff is friendly, but it's no t a 5 star resort...

I had read the VERY mixed reviews before we went, so I knew we weren't going to find 5* luxury but we were still disappointed by what we found.
Starting on a positive note, most of the staff were friendly and helpful - especially on reception. There were a couple of miserable waiters in the restaurant, but then I'd be miserable if I had to work there too - more of the restaurant later.
The room was adequate but was in definite need of some attention - the walls looked dirty, bedroom lights were practically hanging off the wall, the bathroom was shabby and altogether there was not very much room for a family of four. Maids seemed to come round quite often and towels were changed frequently, or sometimes they just gave extra towels without removing the old ones - we had 7 handtowels by the end of the holiday!? Our main complaint about the room was the number of cockroaches! Judging by conversations in the restaurant and round the pool, we were not alone in this.
The location of the room was okay, although a bit noisy as it seemed to be along the main thoroughfare between the restaurant and pool B. The kids were kept awake by the noise from the entertainment bar and occasional late night revellers returning to their rooms. We were all frequently woken by the sound of the sprinklers which came on at around 3 a.m. every morning, not to mention the trundling of suitcases as people often arrived or left late at night or early morning. Still, my brother and his family were worse off than us as they also had to listen to bins being emptied VERY early every morning!
On some days we could relax by the pool - pool C was our favourite as it was generally quieter than the others. However during the second week, it was much busier and often difficult to find a sunbed at all. The majority of the sunbeds were broken (no back supports) and there was a shortage of parasols. We couldn't move the sunbeds into shade when we needed to because they are all joined together in groups of at least four.
The food has to be the worst thing about this place - by the end of our two weeks we were barely able to find anything we wanted to eat - this is the only time I have ever LOST weight on holiday!! Even the smell as we walked down the steps into the restaurant got to us in the end. Luckily, my children are not fussy eaters so they didn't starve, but my nephew really struggled with the food. Breakfast was the best meal because at least you could have cereal or toast! Lunch and dinner were more or less exactly the same - weird combinations of food left over from previous meal times and covered in mayonnaise (for example potato, egg, apple and orange was one combination; another was mussels with chicken and potato!) or if you wanted something hot - fish, veal and pork most of the time, something which was supposed to be shepherds pie ang soggy chips. Every thing was cooked to death - the broccoli and sprouts have to be seen to be believed! They can't even boil eggs properly here - my son came across one which had been burnt!!
If you ask for a picnic lunch when you are having a day out, that can be quite interesting, depending I think on which member of staff happens to be making it. On two occasions ours consisted of: a loaf of the cardboard-like bread which is used for toasting at breakfast, jam, margarine, meat (salami or similar), two pieces of fruit each and some sachets of tea, coffee and sugar - quite how we were supposed to make our drinks I don't know! They didn't even give us anything to spread our bread with! Hilarious!
On a positive note, we did really enjoy everything else about our holiday, ie when we were not in the hotel! We hired a car for a few days and saw some beautiful scenery, and experinced some very scary mountain roads to the west of the island. Aqualand was great fun as was Sioux City. Puerto de Mogan was lovely and of course we had great weather the entire time. It's quite a walk down to the beach, but there is a free bus (it does get very busy), and taxis are cheap. We walked along the bank of the dry river, towards the beach, most evenings (we didn't really like the entertainment at the hotel). On the way there is a great Italian restaurant called Grande Canale. We stopped there several times for a drink and had a lovely meal there on our last evening. The service there was excellent, and the waiters were really friendly (great with kids) and good fun - highly recommended.
Overall we had an enjoyable holiday but this was certainly not down to anything which the hotel offered us. Would we go again? To Gran Canaria, yes. To Maspalomas, yes. To the Green Oasis, not even if you paid me!!

Just arrived back from one week at Green Oasis. Accommodation was very good, especially as you had a separate bedroom and bathroom upstairs, downstairs with kitchen and living area and a second w.c. (good idea). Cleaners were around most days to clean, the whole hotel complex and gardens were well maintained. Three separate swimming pools different levels of noise around each. The activity programme kept the teenagers occupied through the day. Noise was kept to a minimum in the evenings and it was good to see a security guard on patrol every evening - having said that the complex is totally enclosed. Food was edible, but not necessarily enjoyable - it was always hot and well cooked, you would only have a choice of meat or fish and the usual veg. It was ok for one week but could be a problem if there for 2. The snack bar food was always well cooked. Agree with other comments about being in a quiet location and the need to use taxi's - they are cheap 3/4 euros. Lots of germans there but also a lot of spanish, not many brits. Staff were always friendly and helpful - went to reception on first day to ask for a plug for sink, was given one immediately. Probably won't go back as just a bit to far away from things for our liking.

I travelled with my wife and my 2 sons aged 13 & 8. Our flight was delayed so we got to the Hotel at 3o'clock AM. The receptionist was freindly and got us checked in quickly.
Our room was in Block A. ( beside the pool tables and the pool ). The room was Okay. nothing spectacular. There's a sofa with a pull out bed underneath. with a downstairs WC. The bathroom is upstairs along with a twin room. Ample space and sufficient wardrobe space. There is a TV downstairs ( payable - 1 euro per hour ). Not that you need it but it keeps the Kids quite when you're getting ready.
Food> breakfast was ok. fried eggs one day scrambled the next. Streaky bacon, beans, and continental foods. Get there early to avoid the queue for the toaster. Lunch and dinner were pretty much the same and served warm not hot. pork and fish were on the menu most days. if not pork then Veal. We only actually enjoyed a meal once or twice in our 2 week stay. As one report stated, " edible but not enjoyable ". Snack Bar is not worth a visit. Serves Cold rock hard chips with luke warm burgers and hotdog sausages.
Entertainment. The animation team were brilliant ( Hello Quinton and Stephie ), The mini disco starts at 8:30 and is the same every night like most Hotels. And 4 nights a week there is a professional show which are ok. There is bingo and a quiz night, also a casino night ( no children allowed to play ). to make the most of your holiday, join in the activities during the day, Archery, rifle and pistol shooting is for 18years or older so younger teenagers can only watch. They can join in all the other games though. The mini club is for Ages up to 11 years. ( not sure of youngest ). They do games and make things. Also there is DVD's and Video games in the miniclub. We had a great time doing these activities with Quinton and it's a chance to meet more people and your kids make lots of friends. The areas are well kept and the pools are clean. ( be careful when the maids clean the patios. they use soapy water and it's very slippery ) as we found out after our son slipped and banged his head. the receptionist sent us to a private clinic in St augstin. When there is a E111 hospital in Maspolomas. Towels are changed every 3 days, however you must throw them on the floor by the door so they know to change them. The bed linen is only changed once per week. The laundry is free to use ( 2euro deposit on the token, available at reception). The drinks are self service through out the day, Pull your own beer and soft drinks, The soft drinks are not brand drinks, I thought they were nice but my wife didn't. At night the bar is inside and there is usually a queue but it goes down quickly. Beer, wine, spirits, cocktails, soft drinks availble til 11:30. the water is dispensed from a water cooler but with amount of people using it there's no time for it to cool. Bottles from the shop are only '80c' and there's a fridge in your room.
Overall we had a good time at the Green Oasis, Although we would not return because of the food and location. It's a bit out of the way. ( free bus to the beach ).

My family has been to gran canaria many times and stayed in different accomodation types , in various places with ratings from 2 to 4 star. Green oasis is the worst and the most shabbiest we have stayed in. The food was the same most days, scrambled eggs and fried hot dog sausages for breakfast, chips and veal for dinner with pasta and salad, then the same for tea with fish or chicken every now and again. The food was edible but far from enjoyable. We ate out on several occasions. The queues at the bar were ridiculous with only one person serving. The evening entertainment was really bad. we saw a bad magic show and couldnt understand a word because they spoke in german, a parrot show, and a spanish male singer that couldnt sing. Towels were changed and beds were made twice. The shower didnt work and after 3 days of reporting it we were given a plug for the bath. The sites occupants were mostly germans, the majority are very rude, there were some spanish families there, but very few english. We love the island but would NOT recommend this accomodation.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Green Club Oasis for 1 week in April/May easter hol this year. I read a few of these review sites and have to say I was a bit apprehensive but please remember often when people post reviews it's because they've had a bad experience. This was totally the opposite and we would return.
I agree with most of the postings about the food - there was plenty of it but best to get there early for more choice and to be seated immediately. There was a nice selection for all nationalities, and you have to remember this is mass-catering and not a la carte. We liked that they varied the breakfasts each day and they added some local specialities at lunch - great if you like seafood, as there was a delicious paella one day, seafood and chickpea soup and a cold seafood selection one day. My boyfriend is more of a meat fan and loved the food! We did eat out most nights as it's not so special going to dinner in the canteen, although the food was still as nice as at lunch. (if you like wine beware of certain nationalities taking pint-fulls from the restaurant wine-bar and leaving none left for those who wanted to have a nice glass with their meal) Bar food was only really great in an emergency for snacks.
The staff were really great. Our flight was very delayed on the way out and when we arrived there were staff who had stayed late to check us in and took us, and our bags to our room. There is a little shop where the staff are helpful - the owner even did an engineering job on the screw on my sunglasses and fixed them for free!
Our room was great - nice to have a mini-apartment with separate bedroom and kitchen/dining area - our own veranda and bathroom with toilet and another separate toilet! I think most of the rooms followed the same layout. Ours faced a busy road (there was no danger as the road was raised above the level of the complex) which was a bit noisy and we might have been upset if we had children. However, we never asked to be moved so can't complain.
We don't have children but there was loads to keep them entertained! We were all very impressed with the entertainment schedule and there was plenty in the evenings too - even a live hawk show inside - which i was very impressed with - 10/10 for ingenuity!
I would also add that we went in easter holidays and i was a bit worried there might be groups of lads/hen parties, but it was a lovely family resort and quite a good place to go as a couple. There were 3 pools varying in quietness - but we mainly stayed at the main pool, where the bar is.
We also had a hire car but if you didn't it could have been a bit restricting that the apartments are quite far off the centre of Maspalomas. There is a free bus there during daytime hours but after hours you would need to take a taxi. Not too expensive but would add up if everyday. Maspalomas is really nice, quiet and it's fun to explore the sand dunes - but take plenty of sun cream!!
All in all i was very impressed and we would definitely go back!

Me and my boyfriend went for one week and have just returned. We went all inclusive, and was really dissapointed. The hotel itself is not bad but the food is disgusting trust me neither me or my boyfriend are food snobs, but this was the worst ive ever been to. If you like very limited choice everyday including plain pasta and veal in some sort of gravy then youll be ok. The room was really dated although clean enough, i was really annoyed that we were put in a bugalow right at the back of the resort with a dodgy door that practically blew open, i went to reception and was told to come back tommorrow, i wasnt happy with this as i kept imagining my room being ransacked by an oppotunist who could see that our door would not shut. I asked to speak with the manager and again was told to come back, i finally got to see him and he said he would send someone out to look at it. Someone did come out but when we asked the manager he didnt have a clue whether it had been fixed or not...totally clueless. There was nothing to do there at night, no entertainment, one person serving on the bar with people queuing like you would for an ice cream van, i cannot understand why anyone would want to go back to this place it was the biggest rip off ever you even had to put in a euro to watch the tv for an hour!!!! drinks were awful, snacks by the pool were awful we had to go out and eat in maspaolmas on the faro boulevard which was nice although pricey. This holiday cost me a fortune and if im honest was not as enjoyable as other places i have been, i want to stress that i am not stuck up, i am a normal working class person who saves all year for a decent holiday which is why i felt so let down by this holiday, some people have given good reviews which is why we went, please dont do what we did and think it will be ok coz its not ....avoid this hotel like the plague.

I spent a very relaxing and enjoyable week at the Green Oasis complex at the end of March and can honestly say that the place cannot be faulted, based on my experiences there.
Upon arrival we were greated by very friendly staff, who continued to be helpful throughout our stay.
The bungalow we stayed in, while being basic (isn't most holiday accomodation?), was clean, well presented, and had everything you could really need on an all inclusive holiday. The place was spatious enough for our party of 3 and there was an extra pull out bed hidden under the sofa for a fourth person. Admittedly the living area would be slighlty on the small side for some but with the fantastic weather on the Island and the well maintained pool areas of the complex, your accomodation would only get used for sleeping in! Compared to the larger hotel and apartment blocks in and around Maspalomas, Green Oasis had more of a communal feel about it and you felt like you were living in a small Spanish village rather than just showing up, taking in the sun's rays, then going home again.
The food there was brilliant, ranging from full English breakfasts in the morning to salads, pastas, and various meats cooked in different ways each day. Plates were cleared as soon as you had finished a course, and while some may say they felt rushed because of this, I was pleased with this kind of service as it kept your table nice and tidy, ready for your next course. You could also go back for more as many times as you liked due to the buffet style self service. Meal times also at good hours of the day, with the restaurant staying open for 2-3 hours per meal.
The evening entertainment was more geared towards young children, with about 1 hour's worth of more 'grown-up' entertainment, but I found the bar area a nice, relaxing way to end the day. (For those of you wanting to party a little harder, the larger centres of nightlife were only a taxi ride away.) Activities put on during the day included target shooting, table-tennis, scalelectrix, and water aerobics. Other onsight facilities included a small supermarket for buying the essentials and a few computers in the reception area, available on a small cost-per-use basis for those who have to catch up with their e-mail accounts!
In terms of location to the Maspalomas beach and the famous sand dunes, we walked there twice and at a slow pace it took us around 25 minutes to get there. However, Green Oasis does put on a bus service to and from the beach that woud get you there in around 10 minutes.
To conclude, I would highly recommend the Green Oasis resort to anyone looking for a family friendly environment and it was a real disappointment when the time came to hand back the keys and head home!

my husband and i went to this hotel for a quick break. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the bungalows were. They were very spacious and the towels were changed every day but one. the pool areas were great, the only concern here is that if you were at any of the two pools not near the bar you had a bit of a trek to go for a drink. The food was varied and tasty. Only one choice of potato for lunch and dinner. This was either chips, mash or roasted. and one choice of veg. There was normally only one meat dish and a fish dish with plenty of salad. My husband who is an extremely fussy eater always found something to eat which was great news for us. The restuarant can be very busy i don't think it is big enough to hold everyone if the hotel is full. The only bar outside is the one at the heated pool and there is always a queue. You can get hot drinks here without queuing. This is also where the snacks are and these were really nice. chips, hamburgers hot dogs, cheese, bread ect. The entertainment at night was not up to much but better than having nothing. The only down side to this hotel is its location it is a taxi every time you leave. the taxis do not cost you too much though and you can walk into maspalomas in 20min to half an hour walking leisurly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone like myself who is looking for a getaway holiday at a cheap price. The weather was fantastic.

What can we say...3 of us went hoping for a good holiday.Hotel has some good points as well as bad.
Check in - reception staff were extremely helpful and pleasant
Apartment - Clean, but downstairs toilet smelt really bad due to no air vents to air toilet, therefore anyone sleeping downstairs on sofa bed could smell the odour all the time. No kettle, (this had to be hired at 12 euros per week,) no iron or ironing baord again this had to be hired. I feel this should be put on web site. TV for those who watch it 1euro for 1 hours viewing. Sockets hanging off the walls which if you have young children very dangerous, pointed it out to maid who just shrugged her shoulders. No plug to have bath, and no shower mats so you could easily slip in bath and especially when getting out. Towels changed 3 times a week (if you are lucky) Beds do not get made even though states rooms cleaned 5 times a week they just literally check toilets and sweep the floor.
food - well week one was ok differnt meats every meal time 2nd week veal every day twice daily, and of course chips daily.
restaurant service - as soon as your plate was empty plate cleared and you felt rushed at times, but hey you donat want to spend all the time in the restaurant do you. Hot water for tea needed to use microwave.
Bar staff - extremely helpful could not fault them and when they get to knwo you they virtaully had drink ready.
Entertainment - mainly catered for young children they did a good job on this but main entertainment lasted 30 - 45 mins if you were lucky then ended with not chatter!!
We must admit whilst there we only had a couple of noisy nights from people who had that one too many, and of course the talking loud not realising other people are in bed.
Pool - There are 3 pools pool A is the main pool that everyone hangs round very crowded and of course the people (you know wh they are) towels on beds very early. one lifgaurd who was more intereseted in chatting to bar staff. Pools B & C were deeper than A and no Lifeguards very frightening if you are near them and they are much deeper.
Overall - The staff did their best with the working conditions and tried theire best to help you in any way. The weather was good and we eat out a couple of times, would not go there again. even if i won the holiday once was enough
But well done to all the staff on bars and reception

My 4th time at this hotel am I getting bored ... not a chance!
This has to be one of the best hotels in the canaries for its price range. The facilities are great; the food is very nice and plentiful in choice. The entertainment team are so enthusiastic and energetic, the work more than they don't but never seem to be tired and always have big smiles on their faces, which cheers up the little ones
There's so much to say about this hotel I'm stuck where to start, so I won't start, just finish with 10 out of 10 (would be more if it wasn't for the laws of maths!) and would recommend to any young family to visit many times over.

Travelled out on Christmas Eve, close to airport, about 20mins but no plane noise as they don’t fly over. Asked for quiet room and was given a room at the end of the complex. Off season only the pool bar is open during the day so if you are sitting by one of the other pools expect a long walk to the bar (unless you like lots of noise and drunken people - you will want to sit by the other pools). Drinks really basic cheap stuff, only beer, vodka, gin, rum, coffee from machines, as others have said pool side snack bar food is awful, although someone must love it as it runs out often enough - staff replenish all day long - pizza ok, chips ok, hot dog and burgers are dreadful.
Entertainment, well unless you have kids, there is little for you, although karaoke is a good night (they finish very early though) - get in a taxi and head for the Yumbo centre, very friendly good prices and the taxis are very cheap.
Laid on a great Xmas night meal, but no one explained well enough that it had to be booked, so many people were queuing for a long time to get a table.
Buffet breakfast either bacon or those bloody hotdogs, fried eggs or scrambled, beans, then an assortment of cold meats, fresh bread - only 2 bread boards and 1 toaster so even "off peak" there was a queue, heavens knows what it would be like in the summer.
Lunch was ok good salads, always fish and pasta, then a meat of the day evening meal much the same, good food overall.
Rooms ok, but not getting sheets changed for days on end and having really old (but clean) towels only changed twice made the stay not so nice. If you have young children - you need a stair-gate - these are charged quite heavily and not always available, if the downstairs room is to be used by tall teenagers then check they will fit on the sofa bed - our 15yr old only just fitted curled up.
Big word of warning - take out the safe key when you arrive, its only 1.50e a day but you need it - 4 apartments were broken into and money stolen. One couple reported their safe was not working and that was one of the apartments to get broken into - all with the room keys at night. Break-in's seem to be fairly common here - especially on the security guards night off - apparently they arrested a maid. Two girls who travelled out got little assistance from the hotel staff, which was a shame, other holiday makers rallied round to help them.
Weather was great, I don’t think I would go back - certainly not in summer, as the restaurant is not big enough - considering it was a third full over Xmas and there were queues at main meal times.
The staff were very pleasant and made up for a lot that is wrong here, it did us for a quick cheap Xmas get away, but I would think twice about 2 weeks in peak season.
Sunbeds are tied together, mainly to stop people taking them off to put outside in the apartment gardens, so I can understand that - I can't understand why so many are broken (you cant use the back rest, or the main seat is broken).
