" All in order "

First of all, this place is for couples and people wanting a quiet holiday. If you want a bit more nightlife go to magaluf. The hotel is about 1 1/2 fromthe airport by coach transfer. Most of the staff At the hotel were very helpful and friendly. Food was good, fresh and plenty to choose from, lots of cakes, salad and fruit if your not into the hot food. Make use of the fact that you can use the tennis courts from a sister hotel (Can't remember the name.) Beach is quite close and intimate. there is a much bigger beach about a 15 minute walk away though. The hotel is basic but clean. When you think of what you pay, this hotel is good value. I think people who reviewed this badly forget this. Some people go on holiday wanting to complain, i go to enjoy myself, and that is exactly what i did.

Advice: Nice place. quiet and mainly for couples

Activities: Didn't go to any other restaurants as the food at the hotel is good enough.

" I have only been abroad three times... "

I have only been abroad three times so I don't have that much experience of hotels, but I had a wonderful time at hotel Sarah. I am 18 but I came here with my mum, dad, brother (16) and sister (10)

When you first get there and walk in to the reception area it is wonderful because they have the most fantastic air-conditioning, there is no air conditioning in the actual hotel rooms but this didn't matter because when my family got too hot we just came and sat down here! We got there a little late for the dinner buffet but the staff were really kind and let us in anyway which I thought was kind.

The rooms are quite basic but spacious enough and when we asked to change rooms after been allocated a family room which was next to a noisy generator this was no problem at all. I don't think you can really get a sea view (not sure) but we had a view of the pool and I enjoyed this because I could keep an I on the sun loungers in the morning to see what time I would have to go and get myself one :-p. (they do go quite quick).

My sister and I spent most of our time in the pool which is small and cold but warms up during the day and is never too crowded.

Me and my brother made lots of friends as did my sister, but don't worry, this does not mean there are lots of rowdy teenagers around, the teenagers were all in the same position as us; on holiday with there families on a quiet holiday. Most of the time we just watched the entertainment (which isn't great but quite funny all the same) or walked down to the beach.

The beach is beautiful and the sea is very clean and clear with no seaweed and during the day a man walked along with a huge sack of fruits like pineapple, coconut, bananas and watermelons which he cut up and gave out for not much money at all.

The food at the hotel is really nice and there is a lot to choose from although if you are vegetarian (like my sister and I) you may have to accept having lots of salads etc.

During the second week we went out more, the bus takes you everywhere but gets very cramped, there are some great water parks and markets around.

My nannan and granddad also came to stay at the hotel during the second week and as it was my nannans birthday we wanted to get her a cake. The staff at the hotel baked a huge one for us for a small price and all sung happy birthday to her with us which made her really happy.

As you can probably tell I had a wonderful holiday, the only exception was the crickets which the rep told us were everywhere. I was terrified but it didn't seem to bother anyone else!

" my Hubby and I stayed at the Sarah... "

my Hubby and I stayed at the Sarah for 7 nights in may this year. We had popped in the year before to have a look when we were staying elsewhere in the resort.

We have to say we were most impressed with the friendly staff, the clean and bright reception and dinning room, the food was basic but not bad, ok the landing to our room could do with a lick of paint but the rooms were clean and well kept, I don’t think we saw a maid all week, but the rooms were cleaned daily so they obviously do their job well.

We visit this area every year and wouldn’t hesitate in going back to the Sarah. Very reasonably priced hotel.

We had to leave early morning for flight and the little guy on reception offered to make us coffee and breakfast while we waited for our taxi, he was lovely.

" We booked the holiday on the Internet... "

We booked the holiday on the Internet which with the free taxi transfer included by the hotel and cheap flights cost a lot less than any tour operator. This is our second stay at this hotel at this time of the year.

The hotel is in the Son Baulo district and about 15 minutes walk along a nice promenade to Ca'n Picafort. The resort is geared for those wanting a fairly relaxed holiday and not generally for teenagers! Night life tends to end about midnight to 1 o’clock.

The local beach is 5 minutes walk, clean and wasn’t overcrowded with secluded areas around the headland. The sea is not suitable for children as it shelves very quickly to four or five feet deep before levelling out.

The hotel rooms were clean as was the rest of the hotel, but basic.
Although only the dining room had air-con, at this time of the year the bedroom wasn’t too warm. The walls aren’t too soundproof, (thankfully no TVs) but apart from the odd early riser and late to bed people our sleep wasn’t disturbed more than normal for a hotel. Could do with tea and coffee making facilities and hair dryer. The beds were wood slated with a comfortable sprung mattress. Bathroom was compact but adequate.

The pool was clean and under-used. There was always plenty of sun loungers and a large grassed area if you wanted to be away from the pool. Other facilities included a concrete table tennis table, a pool table and internet 'room'. Hotel bar prices possibly dearest in resort.

The staff are very friendly, efficient and courteous.
There was always plenty of food, some of which was Mallorquin, although less choice than in other 3 star hotels. Breakfast can be a bit repetitious, with bacon, beans, sausage and egg nearly everyday.
Entertainment is three nights a week and I would recommend Shenanigans or other hotels for better acts.

Would rate this hotel a good 2 star but not quite three.
Local bars are from relaxed to noisy, and restaurants, cater for various tastes as well as for Germans and Spanish, although you will be welcomed in any.

If you want to travel by bus you will find they are overcrowded most of the day until late evening even at this time of the season.

" I returned from this hotel yesterday... "

I returned from this hotel yesterday after deciding to ignore the reviews on this page and book the holiday as they nearly put me off booking it! I am so glad that I did! I wouldn’t normally write a review but felt that these were unfair. The hotel is brilliant and the cleanliness could not be faulted. I was worried about the lack of air conditioning in the hotel but I was very surprised about how cool the rooms were. The pool was lovely perfect for a dip after a day at the beach. Kids tended to stay at the shallow end of the pool leaving lots of room for a relaxing swim. There is a large grassy area which is very quiet with comfy sunbed.

The food is lovely, breakfast has everything! In the evening the choice is ample and the puds are yum! Drinks with your meal are reasonably priced for a hotel.

Son Baulo beach is nice but the main Can picafort beach is nicer and the sea clearer. It is a fifteen minute walk but it is along the seafront on a promenade. On market day it is perfect as you can browse on your way to the beach! We enjoyed this walk it actually made you feel less lazy and a taxi is only 4 euros.

The nightlife is perfect for couples as there are lots of nice cocktail bars ( I recommend horitzo, the Jamaican bar and barracuda!)and a few good discos. However the resort feels very safe and families would be able to have a good night out.

I really recommend a little restaurant called el maillot, near the port. It was the best meal I have ever eaten and reasonably priced. We were the only foreigners in there and people were waiting for tables so the Spanish must approve! The hotel was lovely, it is quite small so doesn’t feel that busy! I really recommend it!

" I am shocked at the comments on this... "

I am shocked at the comments on this page so far I found the hotel to be of an excellent quality, I found the food to be fairly good it was obvious they had tried to cater for everyone and had both English and Spanish style meals you could not fault it on choice and the range of desserts was phenomenal. All of the staff was extremely friendly, even the maids who had little English speaking abilities made an effort! I found that the pool however was over run with children so spent a lot of time by the beach which was a short walk away. Evening entertainment was nothing special but it was a good laugh and it’s always nice to finish off in your own hotel bar. Couldn’t fault the bar staff , place was always immaculate as was the rest of the hotel it was nice not to be surrounded by children’s entertainers for a change if its that you’re after look more closely at hotel specifications! Air conditioning would be nice as would tea and coffee making facilities.

" When we arrived we thought lovely... "

When we arrived we thought lovely hotel reception was air conditioned cosy bar great then we collected the keys went up to first floor and the heat hit you, but ok that’s why we were there.

Rooms were clean although very basic and our beds were all camp beds.

The swimming pool though is very nice and big and very clean the hotels best feature, and no problem getting a sunbed perhaps as people don’t stay round the hotel.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

The buffet meals are on the other hand not up to the standards I’ve had in all the other 3 star hotels I’ve stayed in not enough choice of main meals and the salads were all mixed together so if you don’t like something you cant eat any of it.

The hotels entertainment consisted of singer and a band 3 times a week not very good better to go to can picafort town or shanningians bar around the corner, very quiet part of resort nothing for the children in the hotel apart from swimming pool and a pool table (that some of the balls are missing) the hotel does have a nice big garden which could be used for ball games but has sun beds in.

I would not recommend this hotel for children as except for the pool nothing else to do.

This should not be 3 star.

" We got a late booking for Alcudia/Can... "

We got a late booking for Alcudia/Can Picafort it cost about 30 quid each extra than the normal Majorca allocation on arrival through Thompson/Portland direct we found most people in the hotel had just booked the basic any where in Majorca late deal, so we felt conned as we would of ended up here if we’d done the same, and saved another 120 quid

We chose this area because we had been before about 10 years ago, our last beach holiday abroad in fact. We had stayed in hotels in Sweden Scotland Belgium France USA and all over the UK, so we have travelled a bit.

We expected there to be some improvements over a ten year period, having stayed first time in an Iberostar Hotel.

I think our standards where set too high.

arrived at this hotel to a very nice air conditioned lobby, picked up keys to room, climbed two flights of stairs, then the heat hit you, only the lobby is air con, went to room had expectations as it was supposed to be 3 star, looked at room, we were gutted the decor was very basic, no TV or radio (its nice to wake up to some sounds or news) no tea or coffee making facilities, spent a fortune down in the bar on coffee etc. had to rent a fridge to keep drinks cool.

found a great little shop down the road that had the cheapest drinks of any one around (next to the photo shop on the right as you walk down to the beach) unfortunately that was the day before we left. the beds are very basic too sort of wooden slatted camp beds some people complained of a bad back.

Bathroom was small and really looked like it needed a face lift, a decent showerhead would be a start especially as you need so many cold showers to try to keep cool. Hotel was clean enough.

maids made beds every day but seemed to do little else,

Staff were very friendly cant fault them they where trying there best considering the tools they had to work with.

this hotel looks like its in a time warp so if you like the 80`s you’ll love it here, personally I prefer 21st century comforts and there weren’t any here. We went for the day to the Iberostar Exegon Park just up the road a bit, you pass it if you get the bus to Alcudia.

Well it was like paradise compared to the hotel Sarah, truly 21st century facilities.

Were coming back but next time it will be a cheap flight and an Iberostar hotel booked direct.

it was only about 5 euros per day per person more on a half board basis.

Did not see much of the entertainment as the hotel was so depressing for us that we just had to get out. So we saw a fair bit of the resort, would recommend the German run banana bar next to the Son Boulo hotel on the sea front. If renting bikes and stuff go to easy rider near shenanigans bar, he’s a old hells angel type of guy from the UK had the best selection of bikes and scooters etc.

Night time was fairly quiet after about 12 to 1 at night, so we did get a peaceful sleep even with the patio doors open wide, if a very hot one.

Nothing much to do for kids though, just glad mine were happy to play in the pool witch was a little small but adequate. Just one pool table which my son took a shine to at 1.50 euros a time that soon gets expensive, try the Chinese restaurant across the road they have pool for 1 euro a go and it’s a better table.

If you want to use the net the hotel charge 2 euros for 10 mins there’s an internet café across the road near the scuba diving shop that charges 1 euro for 10 mins.

English type sweets such as snicker bar where 1.2 euros in the bar, in the shop I mentioned earlier where we got the drinks they where .60 cents.

The rep Jayne seemed to be fielding a lot of complaints from guests arriving and feeling just as we did, but she would just say there was nothing that could be done as we had booked a late deal. And we would have to pay extra to be moved to another hotel, when I asked how much she said in the hundreds we said forget it.

We hear from another family wanting a move that they were quoted 700 pounds and they said no thanks too.

My conclusion is that probably 80% of the guests here where there as allocation on arrival late deals, we all came to the conclusion that this was the only way they could fill this hotel.
