Les Valmonts de Val Cenis Hotel

The accommodation is spotless, well positioned for skiing in and out, and generous by the usual standards of French self-catering establishments. For an apartment billed as being for 3-8 people, we had 3 separate bedrooms. In other resorts I've stayed in we had 2 bedrooms supplemented by pull-out beds in the living room and alcoves off the main living area. For us the separate bedrooms were a big plus.
Bread and croissants were very conveniently provided at the hotel reception every morning, removing the need to walk into the village.
The pool, although free, was small and crowded. You really couldn't swim.
The biggest downside, though, was the location relative to the village. Val Cenis is split into 2 villages, Lanslebourg and Lanslevillard. Les Valmonts is on the outskirts of Lanslebourg, and the walk into the village is via some downright dangerous steps. Almost impossible to negotiate in ski boots carrying skis without falling, and still pretty dodgy when just walking back from the supermarket laden with supplies.
There is a road running between Lanslebourg and Lanslevillard that runs about 200m from the hotel, and although the traffic isn't heavy it is fairly constant and noticeable when trying to get to sleep.
