Hi, I stayed in Les Chaumettes apartments with 10 of my friends.
We were originally booked into La Chalets but they were closed for renovation so we got moved to Les Chaumettes. We got 2 type E rooms (sleeps 5/6 it says on brochure). We arrived on the Saturday night and split up into 2 groups. One of the apartments had one sofabed and two bunkbeds in the sitting room and hall so it was very crowded and very cramped. There also was not much privacy. The kitchen is pretty small and there is no shower curtains in the bathroom and you have to hold the shower head up yourself which is a pain and you end up soaking the whole floor. We asked the lady in reception was there any chance of moving but she was very unhelpful. Also when you are leaving you have to clean the whole apartment top to bottom or you will lose your deposit. We had to wash out bins and clean toilets and fridges even though the apartment was cleaner than we had arrived and the fella who was inspecting them was very unhelpful and was getting us to clean stuff which we hadnt even dirtied. Could they not hire cleaning staff?
Skiing:-
There is some good skiing round Superdevoluy and the nursery slopes are near at hand for beginners. There are a few nice handy green runs for building up the confidence and the blue slopes are nice and accessible. There are also a few good red and black slopes available if you fancy your luck. To ski over to the next town La Joue de Loop is also pretty simple once you can manage the green and blue slopes although the chairlift back is pretty cold.
Food:-
Food around Superdevoluy can be very hit and miss. We ate pizza the first night we were there and it was tasty. We also got a toasted Croque Monsieur the following morning in the same restaurant which kept us going for the day. One of the nicer places to eat is Crystals, we got nice food here the second night and the chef can speak english if there is any problems. La Refuge foods is ok, it was good one night and bad another so its pretty hit and miss.
Nightlife and beer:-
Nightlife around Superdevoluy is pretty non-existant, at the start of the night we drank some pints of Paulaner(only sold in La Refuge - nicest beer around) then went down to Tittytwister for a few games of pool which passed the time. There were two nightclubs La Chalet which was pretty crap and La Fornisse where we ended up for 3 of the nights. The bar staff threw us out some free drinks but there wasnt many people in the nightclub.
So if your looking for a cheap ski holiday that has no night life and average food with good ski runs then Superdevoluy is the place for you (although dont stay in Les Chaumettes apartments). Wont be back in Superdevoluy again.
