Barcelo Nervion

We stayed at the Barcelo Nervion for 3 nights and can recommend it to anyone who wants to stay within walking distance of the Guggenheim and the Old Town of Bilbao. We were pleasantly surprised by the fine breakfast buffet and the clean and modernistic feel of this hotel. There is also a hotel wide wireless internet lan that can be accessed at all times.

A pretty average 3 star hotel. No record of our request for car parking so we ended up with a quarter mile trek from a public car park. The room was small but adequate. Bit noisy on occasions but nothing too bad. What saves this hotel is its location as it is on the riverbank just 5-10 minutes from the Gugg and then a further 5 minutes from the city centre. We were pleasantly surprised with the standard of this hotel having read some previous reviews. We stayed for three nights in mid April. The hotel is very central, particularly for the Guggenheim and is very good value for money. We had a large, clean, well appointed bedroom - and no noisty neighbours. From the reviews I'd read, I was expecting to encounter quite an array of audio effects from the rooms next door, but was delighted to say that that was not our experience at all! It quite obviously depends on what room you get. Ours was quiet and comfortable. Let's not kid ourselves: this is a large, modern business hotel; but for a very reasonable price, you get an impeccably clean bedroom & bathroom; and we even got a bonus "sitting room". We have stayed for 3 nights at this hotel, a double room 50€/night, excellent deal on the hotel's web site. Bilbao it is not a huge city and you can go walking from the hotel to the most interesting sites.(Guggenheim museum 20 minuts walk) Rooms are big and clean but the plumbing as it has been mentioned before may be too noisy, also we would like to point out that the room temperature was too hot even with the heating system switched off. despite of the fact that all rooms are equiped with airconditioned we prefer not to sleep... more

The hotel looked really nice & so did the room, just whenever anyone in the room above or next door flushed the toilet, ran a bath or use any kind of water, well it felt & sounded like you were underneath a waterfall, we stayed for 3 nights & did not get a good nights sleep for any of them. Great location, as has been said before; halfway between the Guggenheim and the old town. Staff at reception were quite brusque. Efficient, but no personal touch at all. Bar/restaurant area is cavernous, not at all intimate and I didn't want to eat or drink there. Rooms are a good size and clean. We also heard loud noises whenever next door used the bathroom.
