Excellent hotel, 10 minutes walk from the main streets and nightlife although you have to be fit to walk up the hill to get to the hotel. Friendly, helpful staff and the food were great. Room was basic but very clean and staff changed towels and tidied up every day. Hotel pool was a good size and free sunbeds were available every day, close to the hotel bar which had reasonable prices.
The resort, Arenal, is a good place for nightlife although not many English people there. The Bridge cafe/restaurant opposite Balneario 2 is excellent, good food, good staff and good prices. If you like shopping then Arenal is for you. There is also a very good water park, aqua land, just 10 minutes away by bus, these run often and are good value for money.
