Hotel Description:

Conveniently located in an elevated position, above a snowy path from the main piste, Chalet Les Matines is a real 'chocolate box' chalet with small, cosy rooms and stunning views and is an approximate 5 minutes' walk along a path to the centre of Meribel. A terrace makes an ideal spot for sunbathing, while keen skiers can virtually ski to and from the chalet, under normal conditions. Fantastic location next door to Chalet Thélène · 5 minutes' walk to Meribel centre · 10 minutes' walk to ski school meeting point · Traditional chalet · Sunny balconies · Wholesome breakfast · Afternoon tea · 3-course evening meals with local wine and coffee included · Farewell feast · Pre-bookable Private Nanny Service.

" You won't get much privacy "

Skiing Feb 09.The resort is extremely expensive. The way to the chalet is by walking and dragging your cases across the main slope which leads to the gondola stations!!yes thats right and it's very slippy, and then along the path up to the chalet.I would suggest using a rucksac not a suitcase and choose footwear carefully.Downstairs is a self contained unit sleeping 4 with kitchen/bathroom, if you get this you're ok.On the main floor there is the kitchen,sitting/dining area and through a door behind the kitchen a bedroom with bathroom and toilet opposite. We were lucky and got this room but the place has no soundproofing so we could hear every footstep/conversation upstairs, yes as clear as that, and an early wakeup call when the chalet staff, who actually live next door in chalet Thelene, started breakfast. The problem is upstairs with 4 doubles under the eaves so low you can't sit up in bed and only one bathroom!!Good points are the food was quite good but I eat most things, they do however have one evening off in the week, tea, coffee and wine(within reason) were help yourself whenever and the place was very clean.A quick ski down the path takes you onto the slope you walked across and a short ski down takes you to the main lift area so the pisteside location and the views were brilliant.. Think brochure price is a bit expensive but we actually only paid half this as we booked late. Ski easily to Courchevel,Val Thorens, Les Menuires.

Advice: Yes, we will go back, hugh ski area, ab fab snow this year
