This was the Holiday from hell! I am an honest, objective person who knows what to expect when you book a three star hotel, which is not the greatest of luxury, but this hotel is of a poor standard, coupled with the tour company SUN 4 U, it was a disaster. NEVER, EVER BOOK... more

Perfect for a laid-back holiday
We stayed at Paradis Park for two weeks in October, the hotel is set back from the front of Pineda and is quiet and relaxing. The main shops and banks are less than a ten minute stroll away as is the beach. The hotel caters mainly for all-inclusive guests and the food/snacks/bar service/entertainment and staff were better than I expected from a three star hotel. H Top operate a shuttle bus service between their 12 hotels from lloret to calella, the service is free but you have to book the day before, you can also book a meal at any other hotel at the same time, we went to lloret for the day and had a meal at the Royal Star, this is a great way to explore the surrounding area. Pineda has good transport links with bus services, main train station and tourist train bus all at the front. We went into Barcelona (70 min on bus) twice once for shopping/sightseeing and also to the nou camp for Barca/Seville game, both were booked from excursions at the hotel. Calella, Santa Suzanna and Malgrat are good for visits as well, and the hotel was a good base for doing this. I would recommend this hotel for families and couples looking for a quiet more laid back holiday
good value for money
We went with two other couples, this being our third holiday together, (last two were James Villa holidays). Having paid what we thought was quite a cheap price for all inclusive in early October, we were not expecting too much. We all were however, pleasantly surprised! The food we all thought, was better than we had expected and there was always a good selection and choice. The staff in all areas were pleasant and courteous. There is a phenomenal amount that you could eat if you wanted to, as the restaurant was open from 7.00 am 'til 12.45 pm. The car hire rates are also quite reasonable if booking through the hotel. All in all, we all had a much better holiday than we had expected and were very pleased with the service and value for money.
value for money holiday
our time at this hotel was brilliant the hotel itself is a little on the traditional spanish side ie. spanish pub feel to it, but it was clean all the staff were friendly the food was good a bit repetitive but there was plenty of it all the time being topped up, traditional meals plenty of fresh fruit etc. We stayed in the annex which is a block to the back of the hotel which was fine for us as we had 3 children with us,so we had no late night entertainment noise to deal with , could have done with a kettle etc as it was a self contained apartment even though we were all inclusive. Rooms were cleaned daily, towels and beds made. The entertainment was good most nights and some entertainment for the kids day and night. The pool was quite deep we thought and around the pool area was extra slippery when wet. The beach was a short walk away, short enough distance for a 6 and 4 year old to walk . All in all it was a good holiday for what we paid
Glad i'm back home!!!!
Just returned home (19th Sept 06) from this hotel. The plus points are limited so we'll start there. The pool apparently is the biggest one for this chain of hotels in the Costa Bravo. Its a decent size, however it does get deep (up to 2.5 meters) quite quick once you have left the stone steps. The area surrounding the pool gets very slippery when wet, a number of children and adults slipped over in this area. The staff were excellent, they were very helpful and always had a smile on their faces. Nothing was to much trouble, even in this hotel with limited facilities. The annex across the road. When we were shown to our apartments away from the main hotel complex we were a little concerned, this turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The size of our apartment was quite big, however when visiting our friends room in the main hotel complex we soon realised that the size of the rooms in the main building were very cramped indeed. Therefore, we felt that even though we were not in the main hotel complex the added space that we were enjoying was a bigger plus point than not being in the main complex. The Bar. Although not that big which did cause some queues to form, the service was quite good. The spirit measures were also very generous which was a relief as this soon helped you forget the negative points of this complex. Now the negative points and there are a few! The food is not that special. If you like chips (the only potato option), tubed pasta or salad you will be fine. The fish, when available tended to resemble rubber and was full of bones, meat was very basic, although plentiful, with not that many options. Vegetables (one sometimes two varieties) were available. The dessert selections was also very basic. It seemed to be the same desserts every day but with different colourings. Flies. There seemed to be millions of them and they soon became very irritating. This was even more apparent when you were around the pool as you were constantly brushing them off of your body. We believe this was due to the location of the hotel, it is situated about 20 meters from a water run off from the surrounding hills. When in other parts of Pineda the flies were not a problem. The entertainment was nothing to write home about, it was rubbish and boring!! The Disco was also terrible and tended to move between the reception area, terrace and a tent situated at the rear of the complex. The children's entertainment consisted of the odd football match in the tennis court and the disco in the evening, although this tended to be overtaken by the adults from elsewhere in the European community. The hotel is not situated near any amenities. To the left of the hotel are the souvenir shops, these are about a 15 minute walk away and are situated in the main shopping area. The main shopping area consists of one street which can quite easily be walked up and down in five minutes, this area is also the only area where you can purchase English newspapers. To the right of the hotel, approximately 1.5 Kilometres away is the town of Callela, there seems to be a little more life here although not much more. The beach is approximately a 10 minute walk away if you are prepared to walk across waste land and the water run off. The waste land also tended to be an area where dogs were walked and left their mark, even amongst the broken glass! Our overall view of the hotel is that we have learned a lesson and that is, having stayed in many 4 and 5 star hotels previously, there is a vast difference when staying in a 3 star hotel. You get what you pay for, it would be well worth paying that little bit extra and staying at a higher star rated hotel near the centre of this not yet developed resort. As a paying guest of the H-Top hotel chain you have the facility to use the other hotels in this chain - this we would strongly recommend when you are considering your eating options. The Pineda Palace (H-Top chain) situated on the front in Pineda is a 4 star hotel, the food here is excellent and should be used for mid-day and evening meals, this option needs to be booked at the Paradis Park reception the day before between 10.00 and 17.00. We will definitely not be coming back to this hotel! M & S Southern England
We Liked Hotel Paradis
Having visited other hotels in spain, we went to this hotel hoping that it would be half decent. It was better than that. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful (which is not so easy to find in spain these days). Perhaps this was because it wasn't a totally British area. Half the holidaymakers at the hotel were French. There were at lot of scottish people which we half expected because they break up earlier from school than the rest of the country. They were quite friendly too. It felt luxurious sitting by the poolside, sipping a drink. A spanish radio station played (not too loudly), good British music, which apart from a few like Enrique is better than Spanish music - sorry. This was the first time that we went All-inclusive. We loved it. We had a card each which we gave to the barman to swipe to get a drink. They had a lot of drinks which tasted like famous makes. Soft drinks included kiwi, cherry, lime and mint syrup to mix with water or lemonade aswell as coke, fizzy orange and green lemonade. You had to pay for well known makes. It was nice just to be able to have drinks when we wanted. With your card you could get 2 drinks at a time. Then you could go straight back up and get another 2 if you wanted to. The pool was cleaned with a net every morning and we saw a hotel worker taking a sample one evening. I don't think that the hotel was completely full at this time and there was space to swim in the pool. Unfortunately, people put their towels on the sunbeds early so that eventhough there was nobody there we couldn't get a sunbed. We booked the hotel on the internet and it wasn't clear if we were going to get a room that has a bedroom off of it. This was what we wanted because we had our 14 year old son with us who likes a bit of privacy. When we arrived we were given just a big room with 4 beds in it. I thought that it would be worth asking if we could have the room we wanted but we had to wait until the next morning when one of the managers came in. She got us the room that we wanted! It was actually in one of their apartments in the building adjacent to the hotel. There was no name on the building but it's next to a house on the corner. The house looks out of place which could have been built before the apartments. This may be why the owner lets her dogs out at 7 inthe morning to bark and bark. The bird in the cage joins in. The best thing is to close the windows and put the fan on. In the hotel they have airconditioning. There was a wide choice of food. There was always fruit and bread and cold meets and cheese. There was soup, a few different puddings and a choice of about 6 other dinners. I tried bits of everything that I thought I might like and then got more of what I did like. Bottled water comes with the meal for All - inclusive customers as does wine, red, white or rose. If you miss a meal you don't have to wait long before you can go into the restaurant for snacks. There is a constant supply of chips, which taste fine. It wasn't far to the beach. The sand was corse and didn't hurt much. There was a sewage smell so we walked a bit further up the beach to swim. It gets quite deep straight away but it was Ok for my 8 year old who can swim. We visited Santa Susanna which looked posh but the hotels were packed. Malgrat had some nice old spanish type buildings in the streets behind. Blanes was just choc a bloc. It was a nightmare trying to get anywhere via Barcelona in our hire car. In the end, the best way to get trough was to go on the ring road which has got a name that begins with R. You'll see it on the map the hire car company gives you. My 8 year old soon made friends and got into the swing of the hotel routine. There were various activities going on which you could join in with. There was also entertainment on every evening which was good. The children had a mini disco and anything they did with the children they spoke in english, french and spanish. There was a tennis court which was mostly used as a football court. Everyone joined in. A short walk away were a few tourist and other shops. I was a bit ill on the last couple of days and when I got home but the rest of the family were fine. The only difference is that I ate fish type meals and they didn't. I would recommend this hotel. It was good value for money. We had a nice holiday. We stayed for 1 week.
What a dump!!!!
This hotel should be avoided at all costs. We have just returned and I couldnt get home quick enough. The hotel is absolutely filthy and extremeley noisy. The swimming pool was never cleaned and the filters didnt work either. So there was a thick layer of dirt and rubbish along the bottom of the pool. The food was horrendous. the snacks consisted of left overs from the previous meal with chips. There were no labels so half the time you didnt know what you were eating. The rooms are disgusting too. We were placed in the adjacent apartment block. the curtains had never been washed and the floors were rotten. Our beds were never made and the sheets never changed. they were noisy due to the 300+ lorry and bus park across the road. This fact is absent from the hotel discription. Please please dont book this hotel !!!!!
Not for single girls!
Me and two friends booked a last minute deal via teletext to this hotel in october last year. All newly single we were ready to hit spain and enjoy ourselves, unfortunately having missed the summer season it rained mainly all week only clearing on the day we went home...typical! Instead we found ourselves sleeping during the day and venturing out from 6 onwards to the bar. As it was the end of the season the resort was fairly quiet, we were based not in the main hotel but in an apartment accross the street which was ideal as we werent on top of each other all the time, it had two bedrooms a lounge, small kitchen and bathroom. The rooms were prety basic but runctional, be careful not to fall between the beds tho as the 'double' beds were two singles with a sheet over! Although this resort claims to be 200 meters from the sea, you either have to treck through the back streets to get there or take the shortcut over waste ground. We tended to end up taking taxis to the more lively resorts of Malgrat and Calella to sample nightlife but took advantage of the all inclusive alcohol first!! This resort would have been nice if you had a young family but is not really suited for young groups, the accomodation is a bit basic and we only saw the cleaner once during the week, this may be due to the fact my companions were not the tidiest of soals and I think we scared her off! if you are heading out during the world cup, try the bucaneer on the sea front, its run by a really nice liverpudlian guy and had plenty of tellys with football action. Enjoy!
Great time all around
had a fantastic holiday in this hotel. dominique on reception was very helpful and cheerful, as was antonio behind the bar. The room was ok but we had clean bedding when needed which was excellent. The entertainment was good especially the circus act only downside was the cheesy disco (same music every night and not really for our generation 30s) All in all for 550 pounds all inc per couple last minute we had a cracking time we may even bring the kids next year......lol
The Friendliest hotel on the Costas
This 3 star inexpensive hotel may get sidelined by many at the choice stage; don't be put off because it is only a 3 star. We have stayed at many 4 stars that fall far short of what the Paradis Park has on offer. It is a fairly small hotel and set in a quieter part of Pineda de Mar. First impressions as you approach from the distance are not impressive. The exterior could do with a coat of paint and the hotel signs are probably an after-thought. Its location is not brilliant; a bit scruffy around the edges and a 10 minute walk to the better part of Pineda. It may be about 200 metres to the beach, but that is as the crow flies - walking time (with kids, bags and all regalia) is a good 10 to 15 minutes. All that said, once you cross the threshold this hotel is very good. The staff are fantastic and nothing is too much trouble. We stayed on AI basis which gave tremendous value. We have 2 young children and our accommodation (on the 6th floor) had 2 sizeable bedrooms and a kitchen (a bit curious for AI we thought) Rooms were kept spotless and well air-conditioned. The food was typically mediterranian, plentiful and we thought pretty good. The AI drinks were the "usual" local beers, spirits and wine, but in endless supply and (unlike many AI hotels) no limit per customer was set. The pool is large and impressive for the size of the hotel and ranges from 1m to 2.6m in depth, although there is a small shallow kiddies pool in a separated area. The sun beds are limited and fairly cramped together; my wife was up at 7am to secure a spot ahead of the French invasion, but it all worked out without a problem. The children are entertained every night with a disco and there are shows most nights with Flamenco dancing and the like. A few unusual features include a small swan pond and an aviary. There is a good size hard surface football/tennis court and a decent playground all in a well fenced secure area. Our overall verdict is that this is a very good and well managed hotel and gives exceptional value for money. Our lasting memory however is that the staff here are superb and cannot be faulted. We would highly recommend the Paradis particularly if you are holidaying with young children.
Ideal Relaxing quiet Resort
We have just returned from this hotel and had a great holiday there. Staff are very friendly and helpful. This hotel does have air conditioning despite some reviews saying it does not, which is very welcome when it is 35C outside. We also had a room with 2 bedrooms (1 Double and 1 with 2 singles), good wardrobes and drawers, which was great for family of 4. A good-sized bathroom and small kitchen, which was not used as we were on an “All Inclusive” basis. Rooms were cleaned daily although linen not changed all week. Towels every day if placed in bath. The hotel has 2 lifts available to all seven floors. The hotel is very clean as is the pool and grounds. There were always plenty of Sun beds to soak up the warm med sun. On checking out at 10 am on leaving day they even have secure lockers for luggage and shower rooms available if you don’t fly home till evening, which we found excellent as it gave us another day of fun at the pool. The pool bar is open nearly all the time and staff are superb and have no problem serving drinks to All Inclusive guests. (Which I’ve heard does happen at some resorts) Food is O.K. and is typically Mediterranean, not a huge selection but you never went hungry. There is always plenty of fresh fruit available. Snacks in between meal times mainly consisted of Burgers, Frankfurter sausages and chips, bread rolls etc, etc. Drink machine with nice selection of juices always available free in dining room, as were different flavour tubs of Ice creams. Breakfasts consisted of Bacon, Sausage, Fried Egg, beans etc. Toast, cereals, fruit and yoghurts. Hot drinks are also available free from the machine, Tea, Coffee, Cappuccino, Hot chocolate etc. and are quite nice! Going “All Inclusive” gave us access to use facilities and dine at other H.top hotels and we visited the 4* Pineda Palace just 300 yards away, but did not really find it any better than our 3*. You have to book this facility a day in advance though. Paradis Park is quite a small hotel and as such there was no noise or rowdiness at all, which seems to be more prevalent at the larger H. Top Hotels in the surrounding areas. Pineda de Mar is also a small peaceful type of resort, and therefore if you just want to unwind and relax, this is the place for you. For a buzzing nightlife, Lloret De Mar would probably be more suitable. Nightly entertainment at the hotel mainly consists of a Disco every night. During the day the pool is open, the pool is quite deep but there is an area separated by pillars for young children. There is a tennis court where football is also played, table tennis, darts and a pool table. There is also a small pond with swans and some birds in cages and a children’s play area with swings and slides etc. Usually the hotel entertainment guy has the kids doing something in the resort about 3 o’clock, and losers of the footy matches often end up in the pool. There is a small arcade with a few games and an Air Hockey table The beach can be seen from the balconies and is a very short walk (200 M) away. The sand is quite stony and dry and as such is certainly no good for buckets and spades. The beach is clean and the water warm and clear, except for the jellyfish, which seem to appear in the afternoons. One problem at the beach is the severe lack of toilet facilities. Virtually none. And those that are there belong to the snack bars on the beach. You have to buy from them before they let you use the loo, with the exception of children who are allowed. The hotel offers 2 free shows and all you pay for is the bus transportation. This costs 10 euros each person. The Medieval Castle show with jousting is fun and includes dinner (Soup and roll, a whole roasted chicken, “YUMMY” and jacket potato, and Ice Cream for dessert. (No cutlery though) Wine, Orange Pop and water all supplied free. Other drinks are available but have to be paid for.) Afterwards there is a Flamenco dancing show with Bar available until bus takes you back to your resort at about midnight. Overall, we definitely had value for money booking by teletext holidays, which I would highly recommend. We flew from Luton Airport, which was a bit of a drive from South Wales, with Ryan air, and the flights were wonderful both ways. I paid well under £1000 for 4 of us All Inclusive, including flights, money well spent, and I’ll definitely be back!!!!! Hope this review helps.
