Someone did mention about the park...
1 / 10
Jun 2008, Mrs A Richardson

Someone did mention about the park hopper being too expensive but this was included in our package and would not have wanted to use a taxi for that distance, especially how the Euro is at the moment.
My friend and I booked a three night b&b for £144 and going on the basis 'you only get what you pay for', I was not expecting The Ritz. A rest and peace and quiet would have been nice though!!
On arrival my friend's case had been taken by a previous drop off 'k... h...' - her case was clearly identifyable but anyway the receptionists were brilliant - we gave them all the names of the drop offs and they located it for us and organised a taxi (the other bloke had to pay though as it was his fault).
We were then faced with a three-quarter bed! And again the receptionists were brilliant in organising another bed to be put in the room. We were on the sixth floor of the hotel which I understand is much better than the apartments over the road. The rooms are very old but the cleaners do a fantastic job considering what they have to work with. The sheets were spotless and towels changed daily (if you make it obvious by putting them in a heap in the bath). The balcony windows are typical spanish wooden ones with wooden shutters but they don't keep out any noise so you may as well have been trying to sleep outside!
At least as we were only b&b so we go out for an evening meal and get away for a while from the all-inclusives who just drank for the sake of it with not knowing when to stop - the noise up until 2am was horrendous and then you think you can have a nap round the pool in the day - no such luck, wherever we tried to be we just attracted idiots who should all go in for the loudest laugh competition. Then there were endless kids running around screaming and shouting who appeared to be under no parental control. I know these people work hard all year and want a holiday but come on - this time should be used to spend quality time with their children, but very rarely saw any parent in the pool playing with their kids, they just kept on drinking and taking their hangovers out on the kids by constantly shouting at them to go away.
There is a lorry/coach park just across the road and when you think the screaming and shouting and the horrendous nightly entertainment is coming to an end - these vehicles strike up and start their early morning travels.
Didn't hear any good reports on the food, infact some people even went out for a meal even though they were all inclusive.
The breakfasts were ok-ish - stuck to toast, yogurt, cereal. The bacon and frankfurters looked like a heart attack waiting to happen!
The entertainment while we were there was karaoke, flamenco dancers and some dude on a keyboard. Even though we went out for a meal it rained every evening so we ended up with our last drink there amongst the mayhem!
Don't think I have ever survived 4 days on such little sleep.
The pool area is washed down and cleaned every night and the pool is clean but the area could do with a bit more of a clean up and a gardener!
People were sitting around playing cards and battleships and old ladies crocheting - just about saw everything during our short stay! How anyone ever survives 2 weeks there I will never know.
Please don't go there - you will not feel rested or even that you have had a holiday. Instead of working for a year and spending around £200 each, work for 18 months and spend that little bit extra on 4 star accommodation - you deserve much more than this place.

Me My Boyfriend and 3 of our best...
8 / 10
Jun 2008, Miss D B

Me My Boyfriend and 3 of our best friends went on holiday to this hotel.
wel went all inclusive with sun4u and didnt realise what a s**t company they were.
When we arrived at gerona airport we were told on our confirmation that we had a shuttle bus booked with resort hopper to take us to out hotel which we had the invoice for to show we had paid for this transport.
we found the resort hopper rep and she told us sun4u hadnt booked us to get a bus to our hotel but had booked us to come back.
so we had to get a taxi for 5 of us which cost us 60euros and we got a receipt so sun4u can pay that back!
the drive to the hotel was awful spanish drive like complete idiots and we were basically holding on to our seats!
when we arrived at the hotel we was all a bit worried due to some of the bad reviews that we had read on here before we arrived.
we checked in and went to out rooms to unpack, the hotel was very clean and looked nice.
the staff at reception and the bar were very nice and friendly and we could have a laugh with them.
the food was very good because we went all inclusive we could eat all day!
they serve breakfast lunch and dinner with the snack bar in between!!
they serve a variety of food and yes they do serve chips all the time but why people have complained i dont know because u dont have to eat them!
the beach is a 5 min walk from the hotel which is good if u want to cary lilos ect across!
beach is very nice and dont be afraid to go topless if thats your thing!!
we visited quite a few of the other htop hotels that were in pineda de mar, lloret, callea, and santa susanna. we could drink there for nothin because we were all inclusive we just had to show them our all inclusive cards which is good beacause there is the pineda palace hotel ryt on the beach so you cant go thirsty and there is no need to pee in the sea!!
the entertainment at the hotel is quite good although every night we made out own entertainment!
one night we had a man singin everythin from barry white to lional richie and it was brilliant and another night we had flamingo dancing!!
if your lookin for nights out in clubs ect Lloret de mar is the place to go.
very lively and very pretty! we went to the htop royal casino and drank there and then headed to a nightclub called hollywood which was absouluty gawjus 10euros to get in and worth it! whilst we was in there there was some famous page 3 girl who was spanish of corse we had never heard of her!! but the boys enjoyed gettin there t-shirts anyway!!
we visited the waterworld waterpark in Lloret de mar aswel which is brilliant u cannot miss goin there whilst ur stayin in thsi hotel. if you inform the hotel the day before they will pack u all a lunch to take with you anda free shuttle bus to the waterpark.
it cost us 23euros to get in and was well worth it we spent the whole day there but we wood advise u take ur own food and drink because there quite pricey at the park!!
after a brilliant holiday out last day we spent the whole day tryin to contact sun4u for out return transfer bk to the airport for our pick up point and time.
but we couldnt get through we tried for over an hour and then asked the hotel reception to help.
they told us that the fone was off and they tried ringin head ofice for us but no answer.
we finally got through to resort hopper and they said sun4u hadnt booked us in with them to go back either.
we had 35euros between us and couldnt afford to pay for a taxi at 2am in the mornin as we were flyin back at 6am this wood of cost us way more than 60euros that we paid on arrival as that was in the mornin.
my friend finally got through to sun4u at 8pm after tryin since 2pm in the afternoon and asked to speak to the manager and told them to sort it. they told us they couldnt do anythin to help us so we asked them if they thought it was ok to leave customers who had paid alot of money for the holiday stuck in spain. at 9pm they had booked us a taxi and told us that it wood cost them a fortune! well tough we had already payed for it when we booked our holiday and we still have the invoice to prove it!!
warning everyone not to book with sun4u cos they have no respect for their customers and dont giv to s**ts after you have paid for your holiday!!
but overall we enjoyed our holiday taken advantage of the all inclusive food and drink and woodnt knock this hotel.
we wood definistly go back to this hotel but woodnt book our next holiday with sun4u
warning everyone not to book with sun4u because they have no respect for their customers and

Jun 2008, Mr P G

I read the comments on previous reviews and was really concerned. We went as a family of 4 (2 small kids 2/4) and we were pleasantly surprised. We stayed in the apartments just across the road and had no problems. It was clean and was very efficient. The staff were excellent and very friendly and helpfull, especially with the kids, the beach is a very short walk, just turn left out of the hotel and then cross the road toward the Golden Taurus hotel, going over the bridge over the storm drain. The food was on a par to other all inc we have been on. We didn't eat out once, apart from other H top hotels. The free bus around the other hotels is great to get around, but the other hotels were very busy at lunchtime (maybe as it was raining on the day we went). OK the pool wasn't very warm but then they are heated by the sun, so take a while to warm up. The kids club (animation) did various activites suitable for most ages.
We paid £194 each and thought it a real bargain.
If flying into Gerona, you may want to investigate getting a taxi rather than the resort hopper as we were quoted 50 euros each way, but paid almost £80 (for 4) for the hopper. So it may be worth if you want to save some time in the transfers, although the ones we had were quick and efficient with little waiting.

Jun 2008, Mr S Hall

Loved it. We were made very welcome from the beginning by the friendly staff. The rooms a bit old fashioned but clean and comfortable. Everywhere was very clean with all the outdoor areas hosed down and cleaned every night. What we like about it was that it had a bit of personality as some of the bigger hotels are a bit clinical. The outdoor area was lovely with trailing plants and trees for shade. We will be going again next year. All inclusive is a must! the food was good (and so were the drinks).

May 2008, Mr A AAA

Although this is a 3* hotel there are many perks. Hotel staff are very friendly and most of the time go out of the way to help. Althou i am quite young is hotel is more situated for couples, groups of friends or the elderly.
At first the place seemed every dull however i would reconmend going the full board as you get all drinks free in the bar as well as booking some of the exkergens at a reduced rate and getting some facilities free such as tennis, football, bike rides and visit some of the other hotels in the same chain (which can be useful as soem vary different facilities such as roof top pool and jucuzzi's.
The hotel is quiet clean and the cleaners are really trust worthy as we have left passports and money on the table and found it back utouched. Fresh towels and beds are made when requested every morning. Going full board also means that Breakie, lunch and dinner is free, with snakcs in between. However teh food does seem to get very boring however they did tell us that they were planning to change things is that area. Out of every hotels we visited this hotel seems to be very livly in terms of the guests they take on and actitivies that they conduct throughout the day and night. It was very nice and in terms of night life you can either travel to lurette or Santa Suzzanna. which gets good late at night.

Good value for money, but then it was...

Good value for money, but then it was very cheap. Reception staff much more helpful than I had expected. 2 or 3 words of Spanish go down well. Rooms clean but basic and with limited facilities. The annex has 'apartments' with much more room, is much quieter, and has refrigerator and ring. 'Entertainment' is for chaffs. Food limited and not always good quality: The trick is to sort out a half-decent meal from the offerings and try the soup (not bad) and fish + salad. Yes, there's always chips, but you do not have to eat them. Even so, the food is definitely 2 star at best. Pineda is just a town on the coast + a few hotels. The beach is very good, about 10 minutes walk, - big and empty but no facilities. Almost no night life, if that's your thing. Around the hotel is a bit of a wasteland, but you can walk up into an almost deserted national park in an hour - saw a wild boar & red squirrel and a Roman aqueduct (but do not trust the maps). There is a cheap train along the front that can take you to some nice places inc. Barcelona. Try Blanes - but from station to beach, little bus up to Botanical Park with fantastic sea views. Hotel offers free bus between a number of H Top hotels. Book day before and go to Tossa - much nicer than you might think. You can go al-inclusive here, in fact it is expected, Some excursions were then cheaper. You could slob out all day with local wines, beers, snacks etc. This will also allow you to eat in other H Top Hotels, which could be a good thing.

Well, we were aware of how badly...
4 / 10
Apr 2008, Miss N E Seager

Well, we were aware of how badly rated the food was before we arrived, however i dont think we expected it to be that bad. If you like mackeral and chips (badly cooked) then feel free to abuse the all inclusive because that is basically all we got!!!! Chips in every meal including snack times too!!! What we also were annoyed about how what wasnt eaten for dinner/lunch was served up for the next meal time, sometimes for the meal after!!!! We ate out quite alot and its good to chat to other residents as they can advise you where to go out for a good meal with not too far a trek and not too expensive!!!! The locals around the hotel are aware of how much trade they receive from the hotel because it is known to be so bad.
We were annnoyed also with the fact that when you book at the hotel it is advertised as you can use all the facilities making it sound that the facilities were there on offer. There is nothing to offer at this hotel and if you use the sister hotels you are charged 5 euros, which is not told to you when you book. Also where the all inclusive is concerned we were not told that if we visited a sister hotel then after 7 o clock you have to pay for your drinks. We felt cheated by this as what was advertised as being is infact not really true. We were also told that if you book on the shuttle bus to sister hotels and stayed for dinner then you were not allowed to return to that hotel again, which again is not explained to you. The Sky Tv that was stated as being on offer, was infact spanish tv, german mtv, and we had cnn or bbc 1!!!!
As for the all inclusive, a mild selection of drinks on offer, no cocktails, just gin, vodka, peach schnapps, baileys (well equivalent), not sure what else, we were not allowed pints of lager but were allowed two halves???? You have to pay for water, unless you get it at dinner, but then you are not allowed to take it out of the dining room.
Entertainment was well, he tried bless him, they do try and incorprate things to do for kids which is good, but this is only at certain times of the day. The weather we had was not great and for two days it rained solid which left not a lot to do but just sit round and chat and drink, most people play cards or games. Evening entertainment is a lot to be desired, however we went in quiet season so there is not alot open out of the resort. I would recommend nightlife in Calella or Santa Susana which looked pretty lively!!!
The staff at the hotel cannot be faulted (apart from the odd barman) as they were very friendly and helpful. The Hotel was always clean and tidy. The people we met staying there were also very friendly which made our week really because without them it would have been pretty dull.

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!! I booked to...
1 / 10
Apr 2008, Mrs J Wilkinson

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!! I booked to go here as a birthday pressie for hubby, i read the reviews and found nothing untoward other than the serving of chips with each meal so i thought all would be ok you don't have to eat the chips!!!! How wrong can someone be?
We arrived late thursday night only to be dropped off in the middle of nowhere and i mean no where the only surrounding is a coach park!! the hotel is 6 storey's high with which we were on the 4th floor DO NOT be mislead by the pictures!! (i sure as hell was) the pics make it look ok not flash but ok as somewhere to lay your hat for a couple of days....God help us it was like something stuck in the 70's and which had not been decorated since that time, be it the room was clean which was the only plus... the bed was a z bed the most uncomfortable thing we've ever slept on the mattress was absolutely wrecked and i'm sure the tiled solid freezing cold floor would of been better.
We arrived at midnight absolutely wounded by what we had booked only to be greeted by the spanish lads in the next room having an all night party! After a long sleepless noght we went to breakfast on the morning, buffett style.. Typical resort breakfast bread, ham, cheese... Breakfast was alright (if you decide to brave it for yourself fill up at breakfast cause the rest well....).
We headed out in the day into what they call a town! it consisted of 2 shops and a hardware store but luckily there is a train station so you can escape this awful place - but NOBODY will help you and advise you to which stops you need to get off at for specific places, we tried to head into Barcelona - unaware that the stop that said Barcelona was for some town built up of offices not Barcelona at all... disappointed as the whole weekend just seemed to be getting worse we headed back to the hotel.. got ourselves sorted ready for the evening meal...
I can't even tell you what it was but it was awful...boiled pasta (not with any sauce just pasta) mushrooms green beans all compressed and covered in a marie rose dressing (or what was meant to be marie rose) and then fish - well if you'd of been brave enough to tackle i'm pretty sure you would live to regret it... i thought the reviews were only bad because of the chips but here i am experiencing this awful place with my own eye's wishing that somebody had told me before i travelled that this would be like this and saved me wasting my money...
Luckily the following morning at breakfast we met an older couple who were heading home and they had had the same sort of experience as us but had managed to get out a lot on the train and they told us that we needed to get off at the "Arc De Triumph" for Barcelona and thanks to them they saved our weekend..we had a fabulous day in barcelona the place is just amazing and if you get the chance all should travel here..
After a wonderful day we returned for thank fully our last night in the hotel we looked in on the evening meal cause we were shattered after a long day and just wanted to eat and get our heads down as we had an early start the day after.. i didn't think it possible but this evening meal was worse than the night before.. Pasties stuffed with ???? my husband is a top chef and even he couldn't work out what was in it and even worse tonight the chips were awful.. i mean how do you get chips wrong!
so even though we were shattered and having paid for our evening meal inclusive we headed out and luckily found a little chinese which was lovely but a right trek to get to and no one at the hotel will tell you where anything is...
The entertainment is a load of rubbish, the staff are unhelpful and overall the flamin hotel should be shut down (it would be if it were in this country) I was glad to be coming home and i've never said that about anywhere (even camping the first week in april with ice on the ground!!) a cheap pleasant weekend break turned into a flamin nightmare not beng cheap in anyway cause you need to pay for meals elsewhere that you have already paid for once but are just not edible!
Last but not least watch out for the transfer back to the airport you have to call to confirm it the day before and if you don't you won't be picked up...they tell you a time to be outside your resort what they fail to tell you is that they may be early and they won't wait... we were lucky we should of been picked up at 6.45am luckily we were downstairs in the foyer by 6.25 cause our coach was there by 6.30. Thank god we were cause i could think of no where worse to be stuck.... Please pay that little extra and travel somewhere else with your families i would hate anyone else to be stuck in that hole and have it ruin there holiday. Never again will i travel to this place.

Well before i start i just want to...
9 / 10
Apr 2008, Miss B Collett

Well before i start i just want to say , dont read the bad reviews and not book your holiday here. I just got back from my 10 day holiday with my boyfriend. It was wicked!
When we arrived there was a problem with our booking from out travel agent, but the reception staff were brill and they sorted it out within 10 mins, i asked for a top floor room and i got one!
We went up to the room and it was so big !! It was really clean and tidy. It had a cooker a sink and the bed was massive! The balcony was really nice and the views were really nice, we could see the beach !
Food
The food is what you get in any all inclusive in spain, i must say there was not alot of choice but we never went hungry, there was allways a fish and meat dish, pasta and chips. There was a big salad bar and lots of rolls and that. Breakfast was wicked, i loved it ! allways english fry up and cereal and yoghurt, the coffee is really nice and the apple juice from the machine!! i musta drunk atleast 5 pints of that!
Lunch was allways nice and dinner. There is three snack sessions a day with bugers sausages chips and that. Great value for money, you will never go hungry.
Staff
Well the staff were really really nice and helpfull. The bar starff were really funny, the reception staff were good if u needed anything u could ask them.
Area
If you want a quiet holiday this is perfect for you. its a 3 min walk from the beach and its a small hotel so its never busy, i felt really at home there as everyone was friendly and talked to each other. I wouldnt recomend it for small children, there is some children entertainment but not much, theres a disco everynight but its a bit repetatve, BUT if u want quiet and relaxing this is for you.
There is a little town down the road with a dead cheap supermarket, theres also a train station - we paied 2.40 euro and u can go anywear on the line, santa susnna is down the road and about 10 mins u got calella, thats really nice got lots of shops. Theres a market on somewhere everyday and thats really good to.
You might of read about the lorry park next to the hotel, let me say its just a big car park and coaches and lorrys park in it, You CAN NOT hear this at night, the lorrys all park in there about 6 or 7 ish and in the morning you hear them about 8 9 ish, but your up anyway?
So i hope this has helped you, dont listen to the moaners please !!
Great value for money, a wicked holiday !
