" Montgenevre and new appartments "

This was my 8th year Skiing and my husbands first so we were a mixed bag of complete novice and lazy intermediate. We/I Chose Montegevre as a high resort at cheap end of season so hopefully lots of snow (no worries there then) also self catering to try and keep costs low. I have done self catering at the bottom end of the market and quite frankly i am too old for damp appartments, one ring stive and thin matresses so i was really happy to find Le Hameau Des Airelles appartments which looked pretty decent.
Transfer times great, no hours and hours on a coach and i have used Nielsen before for packages and they are pretty good at catering to most peoples needs which included leaving people alone who are happy to do their own thing.
Anyway the resport is great, we had lots of snow but some great weather also. can recomend the ESF night time snow shoe activity, exhasting but a nice change to be actually able to walk uphill in the snow without too much pain.
Watch out for the prices in the 2 small supermarkets, exhange rate didnt help but still expensive. Ate out a couple of nights cheaply , Pizza, wine and beer about £30 so not actually that cheap.
appartment was fabulous. combi oven microwave which took some decoding thanks to instructions not in english but didnt burn or Nuke too many dinners so thats ok. really well appointed and spotles. Brand new so be interesting to see how the wear and tear effects the quality.
we had an appartment for 4-6 but only 2 of us ( we were upgraded due to not many people staying) gave us lots of room , would be great for 4 but 6, hmmm a bit tight. also ski lockers are the same size no matter the sixe appartment and with 2 sets of skis boots and poles out cupboard was fairly full.again prob ok for 4 but 6.....
Runs well maintained, to be honest they should have closed the new lift one day as visibility was 0, got too scared so turned back uphill and walked to teleski ( wimp or wise i dont care, that was weather that kills people)
book equipment in advance and on line, i checked before hand but didnt and would have saved about 40% for the time of year.
We would go back and probably at the same time of year as the runs were empty and complex quiet.

Advice: quiet resort but friendly

Activities: evening snow shoe with ESF

Good for: Ski
