We arrived about 12.30 AM after a long flight myself, husband, 4 year old and my 73 year old mother, the check-in was painless and the people were nice the porter helped us to our rooms. The rooms were small but very clean everything you needed. We had asked for rooms together but mam was over the other side of the hotel they said we could move the next day but as it turned out mam was quite happy there. If you want to lie around the pool at this hotel you must get up at 6 to bag the sun beds as 7 is to late. We missed the sun beds some mornings so we went to the beach which was fab and my little lad loved it. The food was NOT ENGLISH but we new that and there was not a great choice but it was okay and again my little one ate at every meal. There was not a childs menu at all. We had fried fish one night, kabab the next bbq next turkish burgers and a few stew like things, loads of salad stuff. The only thing, the drinks stop at 10.30 and the only drinks in the all-inc were vodka, gin, beer and raki and that is it for alcohol. Next door had entertainment if you want it. We had a great time met some great people i would go back to side but mabe not that hotel we got a really cheap holiday and had a great time but i'd spend a bit extra next time as we would have liked a snack bar(that had hot dogs and burgers) for when resturant was closed.
noisy but clean

We stayed here for a week at the end of September 2008. We arrived at about 2.30am and checked in with no real problems, there was a bit of confusion over the wrist bands as the receptionist said it for all inclusive but we were only on half board. The porter then grabbed our bags and ran off down the hall to our room, he was not very helpful and quite grumpy however this was probably due to the late hour. We checked with the female receptionist in the morning about the wrist bands and she confirmed these were for half board, you could upgrade to all inclusive for £10 per person per day. The room was very clean and comfortable(ish) beds were a bit hard and it was a twin room when we thought we had booked a double, however we just pushed the beds together and the maids left it that way when they cleaned the room and changed the bed sheets and towels every day. The maid even arranged our towels into some swans which was very nice. Breakfast was basic and traditional turkish cuisine as was the rest of the meals. We decided not to opt to upgrade to the all inclusive after sampling the evening meal on the first night and instead eat out which was fairly inexpenive, £15 for a 3 course meal for 2 including a drink. Other guests in the hotel were very inconsiderate tho and came in at 3am making lots of noise and shouting and running up and down the corridor. As there was a large tiled lobby area outside our room on the ground floor it was very echoey and woke us up most nights. Also you could hear every time anyone in a room above or next to you used the toilet, shower or taps which was very annoying. The pool was very clean and tidy with adequate sun loungers and umberellas, however guests got up quite early to put their towels on the beds to get the best spots. Staff were pleasent and friendly but could not speak alot of english. Restaurant staff serving food were dressed in white with hair nets and rubber gloves and waiting staff were smart in either polo shirts or shirts and trousers. There was no entertainment in the hotel but this was as per the brochure and we did not expect or want any caberet style or kids club entertainment. Overall the hotel is very clean but basic as is the norm in any turkish or greek hotels. The food is typically turkish but repetative and you can get much nicer authentic meals for a really good price in the vacinity.
Fawlty towers but not funny

We arrived at 5.30 am on the Friday morning to be met by a grumpy non English speaking night porter that we had to argue with in order to obtain an all inclusive wristband for my wife. Eventually we got one. The hotel has no lift so we had to carry our cases up to the the 2nd floor. Room was basic (no fridge, poor electric socket supply, poor supply of bedding & a lack of storage room), but very clean. There are no "Do not disturb" signs. We went down for breakfast at 9.30 to be met by an army of waiters resembling (& dressed like) asylum seekers on the street corners of Britain. They were led ( & later trained) by the head waiter who's command of the English language extended to "Enjoy your meal" (whether it was a meal, drink or just a greeting) & "Can I take" as he took away your plate, bowl, cup or glass before you had time to finish it. The breakfast consisted of one plate with a fried egg that I am sure was made of rubber, & one plate with a boiled egg, olives, cucumber, feta cheese & salami. Upon complaining to our "rep" we were told "that is Turkish cuisine" The only variation to this was cereal being added after the third day.Upon asking for milk to take with our tea we were told that milk was for coffee. Lunch consisted of chicken(?) pasta/rice, feta cheese, salami, egg & spinach salad. Dinner consisted of the same & then whatever had been left was recycled into soup different variations of salad with a different herb thrown in here & there. Whilst we were having a drink after eating our lunch, a drain cleaning vehicle arrived, they then removed a drain cover situated between the bar & pool area & began to use drain rods, the owner/manager then shouted in a most menacing & bullying manner at one of the waiters who can have been no more than 17 ( but who was sporting a a jacket informing us all that he he was an expert in gynaecology (& indeed a cunning linguist ) to stand on top of the drain cover in the centre of the restaurant, there was a an almighty crack as the blockage was relieved & deposited the contents on the floor. Someone then duly came & hosed the mess away but did not disinfect the area. Meanwhile in the restaurant, one of the poorly attired waiters wiped up the mess by the drain cover with a dirty cloth & put it away in a drawer by the hot(?) food serving area. We made friends with two ladies with teenage children, the children had to eat bread in the hotel as there is no consideration or choice for them. After two days we all ate out all the time as we didn't consider it worthwhile eating leftovers for a (so called) week at the side of a cess pit. After a couple of days of eating away from Ozside it became apparent that the local restaurants all knew how bad the food was at Ozside & were touting for the custom of its guests. At some stage of the week we all suffered stomach upsets, I myself had to spend a day in bed & my wife never recovered whilst we were there. The all inclusive bar closes at 22.30 & not a minute later. Even worse on the day of our departure, we were due to leave at 13.30, I walked past the reception desk & the man on reception called me over & cut off my all inclusive wristband. This meant that we only had 6 nights on the supposed tarriff but had paid for 7. It is an awful hotel & if we had not met such good company(who are all of the same opinion) it would have been a nightmare. The pool was filthy, not cleaned at all. Water slide would not be allowed anywhere with a health & safety policy. The management are arrogant, & ignorant I would not recommend this hotel to anyone If you have already booked here & can possibly change hotels,do so now
Good Staff, Bad Hotel and Management
from FamilyA
This hotel does have a few good points. The rooms are clean and well kept, with the cleaning staff very helpful and efficient. The day-to-day staff on reception, bar and waiter service etc. are likewise keen to help and will usually do what they can to help whenever you ask. This will make your stay acceptable... Sadly, this is the end of the good points. On the down side, we found the management singularly unhelpful, rude, disinterested, ignorant, incompetent and (at the risk of overdosing on adjectives) inhospitable. Perfect for call centres but woefully ill-suited to the hospitality business. Do not try to change travellers cheques at the reception desk. Your rep' will claim you can but if you try, you will fail. They don't touch them, a fact passed to us by a hidden manager rooted safely in his office, Chinese whisper style via a rather put-upon junior staff member. If your return flight is late in the evening and you want to keep the room after checkout for £10 as advertised, do not try unless you feel lucky or the hotel is almost empty (because of the season or a major plague). Again your rep' will tell you it's possible and, while technically true, you should be prepared to make a very unpleasant scene to get your way. In our case we began asking on our 2nd day, kept asking almost every day and were finally told on our last day – by the hidden manager, Chinese whisper style – that we couldn't in fact have a room. We weren't happy and the stressed young clerk was faced with 2 upset adults with a small child and very upset stomachs making a scene in front of the other happy diners. Eventually the hidden voice granted us a room as long as we promised not to tell anyone. Seems I broke my promise. The food ranges from acceptable to dreadful. Since there is no variance in the choice of foods available (aside from the shade of brown on the hot trolley) even the food we found acceptable during the first few days quickly sapped our will to live. If I never see another egg again I'll be happy. The same can also be said for the egg and spinach pie. Actually, since the hotel has a distressing habit of reusing any uneaten food, I'd also like to add chip and lettuce salad, cheesy tomatoes in mayonnaise, rice and anything involving pasta to my list of foods to avoid forever. The pool is filthy. In the first week, the filter system was switched off and the water contained no chlorine. It was essentially soup made from the sweat, skin flakes and various bodily fluids of several thousand Dutch and German holiday makers. In the second week the manager organised a clean-up of the more distressing patches of mould and added some chlorine by pouring neat solution into the drainage channel while the pool was in use and a small crowd of children stood around watching, mainly wondering what the fumes were. Sadly, this is not a joke... We spent a couple of days unable to leave the room suffering from severe stomach upsets. Since this happened to quite a few other families, I suspect the pool and/or the food caused this. Overall, the hotel suffers from a claustrophobic air of quiet, dispiriting cheapness that will mar any holiday. The place functions despite the management not because of it. I would not recommend this hotel, but if it's too late for you to change don't get discouraged. The surrounding area is stunning and this will make your stay worthwhile. In the end, the rooms are comfortable and day-to-day staff are very helpful. Just eat out.

I understand peoples comments on the food as i lived on bread and raw veg for a fortnight apart from when we went to ameldas resturant which is just round the corner and great service. I had however researched where i would be staying and it states that it is a prodiment german catered hotel and contarary to belief this hotel is only a two star hotel, but amazingly clean clean bed linen everyday, towels, the staff are trying to learn english, but as i can only speak english, whereas they can speak dutch turkish russian and german ive no right to critizicise. the flys we spoke up and cling film was then covering the food which you just needed to lift up and then recover. I have been in four stat hotels and had to pay for the telly which we did not here, granted german and dutch channels but then i did not go on holiday to watch telly. the pool was cleaned every morning at 6am and checked four times through the day. money wise this holiday was excellent and believe me i am picky, but if you look into where you are going before hand youre forewarned, and it does state that it is turkish food. I think as english people we sometimes expect too much from other countries to pander to our likes and dislike instead of enjoying something different. the scenery was breathtaking free shuttle to the beach runs runs four times in the morning from the hoteland back, you can order english food but this costs extra frustrating yes but it was for peanuts in comparison to this country. YES I WILL CERTAINLY BE GOING BACK TO THE OZSIDE AND IT IS IMPROVING EVERY MONTH AIR CONDITIONING IS NOW IN EVERY ROOM.
Last review? food?? yuk!

Went to ozside hotel on june 4th. I can say as earlier review it was a very clean hotel, the maids were very pleasent. The managent were not very polite unless you are dutch or german... the english were not catered for at all. But the receptionists were very nice! The food where do i start?? Breakfast was the only meal you could eat.. but it consits of boiled egg one day and scrambled the next.. very samey.. yes there were olives and salads etc but never coverd properley ( but covered in flies) cereal was there but very basic. The evening meals (well) don't bother if you have children, because they wont even look at it.(bad) I tried a couple of nights and ended eating out everynight after that. They do have a bbq on a sunday but the food i was told by another holiday maker was still raw, so didn't try! It would be better if you were looking for a self catering resort, and like to eat out. i wouldn't go to this hotel again.... but side as a place is beautiful place and would definately go again. The people are very friendley. i would say self catering or a villa is your best option. I will go again, but not to ozside.
Great - confused by earlier review

We booked our holiday a few days before we left and after looking up the hotel on this site i was a little worried what we were letting ourselves in for. i can only presume that a lot has changed since the last review was written. first off - the rooms - all had sat tv's, phones, double/twin beds (which were the comfiest i had slept on) and wc/shower room. all had large balcony's/ terraces. all (bar two rooms that i could see) had air conditioning units. we did not have to pay extra for that. there wasn't a timer on it - but it did go off whilst the patio doors were open (understandably!) but came back on when you shut them. decor was nice, safe in the wardobe (think that was about £10 for the week). only thing is not a lot of storage - just two drawers on the dresser unit - imagine that might be a problem if your coming for 2 weeks with a lot of clothes! the food - ok it was repetitive and i do feel this is why the hotel is only a 2 star. the bread was lovely though (do not understand the stale mention in the last review - unless they have changed supplier). breakfast is bread and some form of warm egg (either hard boiled or scramble/omlette type thing) then you had a selection of cheeses, meats and olives and cucumber tomatoes etc. there was also 4 different types of jam (served in a big bowl and you put what you want into smaller dishes) there was also cereals with milk or greek yoghurt, coffee te and fruit juices. evening meal - again the nice bread. there was a different soup every night. then a variety of salads (the breakfast table was full with them) you had the normal salad type veg and then pasta/ potato salads etc very nice. the main course is either rice or pasta, a medley of veg, a potato type dish (like wedges or roasties or fries) and a meat or fish dish. friday is bbq night and the chicken was cooked to perfection. We ate out a couple of nights because it did get a bit samey but like i say thats why i think it is only a 2 star hotel. the whole hotel area is spotless and clean. the cleaners were cheerful and always said hello and actually looked like they were enjoying their job! there is a free bus service to the beach which isnt actually that far away - its just that its over the sand dunes and i can imagine in the hottest months it must be unbearable to walk. buses leave at 10.00 10.30 and 11 and there are buses back at 4 and 4.30. variety of beach restaurants etc on the beach and prices arent too bad. watersports available. you do have to pay for the sun beds which was 5 lira for 2 with sunshade which i think is about £2? i can honestly say we didnt see or smell the 'tip' mentioned in the previous review. i will be going to side again and would stay at this hotel again. if you want a fridge in your room try the aral which is further down the same road - someone we met said that was nice too. new to thomas cook and so not rated yet. but no free bus to the beach from the aral! we were impressed with hotel oz (or oz side as its known) and would book to come here again.
Oh no Oz side hotel......

Yes! off to turkey again been before 2003 to Melissa Apartments no children had great time in october weather fantastic place to die for. HOWEVER went to side again decided to take children 2 girls 14years and 12years to OZ SIDE WELL!!!!! where do i begin hotel great if you are NOT ENGLISH/SCOTTISH they have built a new part to the hotel which is plush but caters for the scandinavians. the rooms compared are small no air con and at 45c this is hot. fans cost £10.00 per week and is a must. dont even ask how much the air con was???? The rooms are paper thin and you can hear everyhting. they are very basic and small. the maids excell in keeping your rooms tidy and clean and leave towel arrangments which look great. The Hotel Managment are miserable and the Reception staff too. The breakfast is hard boiled eggs, baguette hard bread ,olives, cheese, syrup and plain yoghurt. Great I didnt expect a full english but something to eat for breakfast would of been nice. The place itself was shabby with electrics hanging around. The pool only getting cleaned twice a week, no evening entertainment so girls bored. The pool isnt lit a night. Oh and dont even try to walk to the beach because you will walk past a tip that smells disgusting and you can smell it from your room too. great!!!!!! The best thing we did was find next door The Viking for scandinavians. However it was so welcoming it had evening entertainment every night and we soon became known in the complex with the italian restuarant you couldnt go far wrong. DONT GO!!!!!! Everything about the place is not nice what a waste of money. Oz side is a cheap place to go with cheap morals not for the uk traveller!!! The turkish men also oggle over your children which i found very uncomfortable and rude. Never will i go to turkey again......
We went on a family holiday in August, we had such a great time. All staff very helpful and polite. Nothing was a problem for them. Food was always cooked properly and always something that you could find to eat. Hotel very clean at all times. Waiters was very good and... more
