End Aug 2011:
Just returned from 2 wks at Oz Side, improvements needed and would not recommend this hotel.
Food: recycled daily what you had for dinner was also available next day, limited choice, lack of meat, NO toaster.
MAJOR ISSUE with flies all over the food due to open air dining room. (Salmonella outbreak inevitable) We had to eat out most of the time.
Should NOT be ALL INCLUSIVE, no ice cream for kids, have to pay for slush puppy, play pool and table football. Drinks only til 10pm and between 9.30pm - 10pm only 1 drink per person allowed from the bar and this was frowned upon with oonly 1 bar staff member servering.
Bar staff so misserable.
Cleaners are the only good point as clean room, towels, bedding daily. VERY BASIC HOTEL and over rated.
Pool adequate too much chlorine in it.
Beach is good but NOT all inclsuive.
MUCH IMPROVEMENT NEEDED. Would NEVER RETURN HERE. Management appear to be watching you daily.
PS: we are not moaners on holiday we make the most of it and this was our 3rd time to Turkey, 3rd time all inclusive and OZ SIDE was by far the worst. SERIOUSLY CONSIDER BEFORE YOU BOOK AND GO AND GET DISSAPOINTED AND SPEND MORE MONEY EATING OUT.
ps: Excellent Kebab shop near by.

I have just got back from a 14 day hol at the Oz side Hotel, it was a family holiday over 3 generations. The hotel was super, the owners could not do enough for us they sorted any problems instantly, the waiters were realy good lads and we all had some good laugh's with them all. The only fly in the ointment was the young girl behind the bar( like most youngsters I dont think she wanted to be there but after a few days she was also great). The hotel is one of the cleanist hotels I have stopped in ie: the pool was dipped atleast 3 times a day the poolside toilets were cleaned 3 times a day sometime more, the waiters were cleaning the floor in the dinning room & bar all day long.As for the food being repetative I would challenge anyone to vary food over a 2 week period and keep kids as well as adults happy without repeating some meals. We all had a super time and would go back again without a second thought!!!

Absolutely rubbish, we stayed for a week and there was no entertainment for the full week. The food was the same everyday and there was never a menu telling you what it was!! The drinks were severely watered down and not cold....which is the last thing you need when it is 30 degrees! Breakfast starts at 8am but the bar doesnt open till 9am so you cant have a juice with your breakfast only tea or coffee or watered down warm fruit juice in a plastic cup. The childrens slide was only on for one hour at lunchtime and again an hour in the evening. The all inclusive stops at 10pm which is a big negative when your on holiday so we went elsewhere most nights. The staff are very quick to take away your dishes but dont talk to you. If you have children or like to take full advantage of all inclusive then this is NOT the holiday for you!!

However I have to honestly say that the revıews are so ıncorrect the staff were lovıly and could not do enoıgh for me and my famıly. The hotel ıs very clean and ıs so close to the town center. The hotel staff and the thomas cook rep were fantastıc. In my opıon ı say ıgnore all of the moaners and just enjoy your holıday!

The resort could have been better for example bar closes at ten the drinks are only given in small glasses and the entertainment is poor.
The swimming pool is not that good as it strips the silver of jewellery the rep was informed.
Many people were ill at the resort and I witnessed couple of accidents as health and safety is non existant.
The staff at the hotel are nasty the night worker demanded tips for taking luggage to room aafter we paid 50 lira for safe. I met one couple who had all there clothes urinated on as they refused to give the tip honestly!!
The food is ok a bit repetive, bit like a 100 ways to cook a chicken.
would not go back and would not recommend

We never managed to get a single night's sleep. Music from the bar kept us awake until after midnight. Then at sunrise there was the noise of wailing and droning from a nearby mosque. If by some miracle you then drifted off to sleep you were abrubtly awakened by staff noisily dragging chairs and tables into position at 6.30 am.
The food was very repetitive with various items reappearing in different guises; particularly in the soup! The all inclusive bar will only serve if you take back your empty glass and are quite awkward with you if you don't. Thomas cook rep very unhelpful unless you want to go o one of the excursions for which she obviously gets commission.
surrounding area of sigificant historic interest....shame about the hotel.

We decided to take a reasonably priced last minute all inclusive week in Turkey and chose this Hotel. Many of the reviews we viewed were poor, but some were very good and so we took the chance and felt, as we were only staying a week, the risk was low.
In the event we were very pleasantly surprised and have no hesitation in recommending this fine, all inclusive, establishment. Indeed, we find it difficult to see how some of the rather critical reviews of this Hotel can be substantiated and, for that reason, we have taken the trouble of taking several photographs to support this review for the benefit of other guests who may be sceptical about staying here, so they can judge at first hand the quality of this Hotel.
The Hotel is modern, well appointed, four floored establishment situated in a quiet area about a 20 minute easy walk from the centre of Side, or a cheap 2 minute drive by Dolmus ( small local bus ). The Hotel proves a free bus service to and from a nearby beach at several times during each day.
Despite arriving very late at night we received a warm welcome by the reception staff and were soon escorted to our room without fuss.
First impressions were that this was a very clean and well kept Hotel and, in fact, it could easily be described as spotless. Our air conditioned room was of a good size with en suite bath, shower, toilet and sink. A hairdryer was fitted in the bathroom and soap, towels, shower gel, shampoo etc., all supplied.
The balcony was of a reasonable size and could comfortably sit three. Stairs and a lift serves all floors. Our room was properly cleaned and serviced on a daily basis.
In the large reception some areas have been set aside for relaxation and comfortable seating is provided. There is also a small library of paperback books available that works on a 'swap' basis and a member of staff was available at reception round the clock.
The dining room was spacious, mainly undercover and adjoined the swimming pool and terrace. At the far end is a well stocked bar, together with automatic tea / coffee / water / fruit juice machines that are available at all times on a help yourself basis.
Meals are served on a buffet basis and it was apparent that all food handling areas of the Hotel were meticulously clean, as was the kitchen that can be clearly seen from the dining room. The food is of an excellent all round standard. Breakfast is continental with a variety of cheeses, cold meats, breads, tomatoes etc., with a range of cereals together with a hot selection often including hot meats, sausages, eggs and so on. No bacon or pork as Turkey is a Muslim country. Tea, coffee, fruit juices, yoghurts, honey, jams, marmalade and sauces all available.
Lunch and dinner varied and usually comprised a wide variety of well prepared salads, some meat, some fish, some vegetable with a variety of side dishes. A selection of at least three hot choices were presented, some of which is prepared within the dining room itself. There is no shortage of meal options at the Hotel Oz and during our weeks stay we were not served the same meal option more than once.
The pool was always exceptionally clean as was the pool terrace that had ample room for the provided sun beds and shades. A small, well equipped play area is sectioned off for young children and a terrific water flume is situated alongside the pool to keep the kids ( and some adults ! ) amused all day !
The staff were very friendly and attentive and always willing to help at all times.
The Hotel has its own Turkish Hamam and Massage Centre run by Rustem Cin and his team and this offers a wide variety of on-site massage and health programs, ranging from scrub and peeling, face masks, Indian Head Massage to full body massage, Turkish bath and other professional therapies.
These facilities are very reasonably priced and delivered by qualified staff in a very well equipped and spacious suite. We experienced two of the Hamam programs available in these relaxing surroundings and they were both very good and we would recommend you pamper yourself by treating yourself to at least one during your visit.
So, all in all, we found this Hotel to be excellent and we would have no hesitation in staying there again.

Got back from the Oz Hotel, Side on the 7th May 2010. To be fair i had read the reviews before i went and was quite worried as to what i was getting myself into. I'm afraid the reviews were right, about the food !!!!
To be fair the rooms were very clean, and the cleaner was in every day. The reception staff were very pleasant, and did try to help when they could, and could understand.
When we arrived at 3am in the morning, we were very tired and were pleasantly surprised at the night security man, who grabbed our cases and ran upstairs with them. When he stood and waited we realised that we had to tip him and as just got there hadn't got any change and apologised for not having any. To this the gentleman huffed and puffed and you could hear him shouting to himself in Turkish and obviously it was about us.
I felt bad and said to the rep next morning to which she told us not to bother giving him anything for acting in that way.
There was no information on when breakfast was and what time so we just went down for the rep meeting and missed breakfast. Food was just about edible !!!!!! Never left much to the imagination. A lot of the stuff you could tell was from night before. If you liked rice, salad, and bread you were laughing. We ate out a few times and the food was lovely in the local restaurants. The waiters were lovely although couldn't speak a word of english. But were very efficient and polite. The bar side of it well what can i say lol They stopped serving at 9.45pm and then only if you had a glass you would get your last drink. Teh bar manager as what we were told, she sat watchin from 9.30pm to see who was gettin what and how much. You felt very intimidated by this. After 10pm the y would only let you buy 2 drinks????? Can i just say for the week that we were there the so called bar manager never changed once while we were there. Same jeans, same jumper all week.
I spoke to the rep and she told us the reason for the bar closing so early and only alloeing one drink per person, this was because apparently last year there werre too many drinks left on tables and was a waste, so this family run hotel decided it would stop this, and hence the only getting a drink, if you had a glass.
I could go on and on but what is the point, as Thomas cook and other companies will keep sending ppl like oursleves who save up for a great holiday and get met by the sort of food that wouldnt even be served up at Her Magestys Service !!!!

We went on a family holiday in August, we had such a great time. All staff very helpful and polite. Nothing was a problem for them. Food was always cooked properly and always something that you could find to eat. Hotel very clean at all times. Waiters was very good and always busy keeping every where clean. We all had a great time and will be going back. Been to five star hotels were we could not eat the food and rooms was not as clean.
