Jun 2006, Mrs M Hughes

We have stayed in this hotel twice, as a couple in 2004 and as a family in 2005. We hope to return in 2006 and 2007.
This hotels staff are extremely friendly, I spoke to the manager as we were missing a flannel, ten minutes later 6 arrived at our room with wine and fruit as an apology. Our two teenage girls had no problems with the staff and felt safe and secure.
I look forward to returning as the staff remembered us despite there being a year gap between our stays.
Stars and dinner is good value and if you can be bothered with the traveling, don't miss Cairo. Enjoy!

Jun 2006, Miss V Britchfield

Been back a week from Tropicana Gardens palms and missing the pool, sun, hotel and that laid back feeling.
What an excellent hotel, food was great, hotel staff were great, atmosphere was great, and weather was great. Only one word for the holiday GREAT. Recommend the hotel & Sharm El Sheikh to anyone.
Went on the Stars & Dinner excursion and what an experience to see the planets & stars. Well worth the money (£32).
Hopefully going back to the same hotel in October. Can’t wait.

Came back at 4am this morning. 2 females and no hassle at all from staff or locals. Excellent hotel, friendly staff nothing too much trouble for them was my birthday the day we left and they made the bed up with leaves and flowers all fancy. Did something different with towels every day. If you don’t like your clothes being messed with use the wardrobe they don’t touch anything left in drawers or robes only stuff left lying around. Nothing went missing, unfortunately there are no safes in the rooms but can get them that are in reception area for free
2 pools are excellent but not enough sun loungers at the top one but if you go to the bottom pool there’s plenty there. DJ played same cd with same 6 songs on it all week lol. Rooms are clean and towels changed daily if you don’t want waking at 8am then use the do not disturb sign and they come at 10 instead.
Food was very good with plenty of choice inc English dishes like steak and mushroom pie etc not repetitive at all was different every day, the deserts were to die for so forget any diets. No upset stomachs at all
Na'ama Bay 10 mins from hotel ia free shuttle bus, mind the guy in shop where they drop you off hes nice but will take you round all 5 of his shops and you will buy something just to get out lol. Managed to get at least 8 marriage proposals with our "magic eyes" that was in first day.
Haggling is an absolute must, you say how much, they tell you, you decide how much you want to pay and meet somewhere in the middle, its great fun if you don’t get the price you want walk away and then 9 out of 10 times they will give you it at your price. Don’t listen to rumours of being locked in shops till you buy something, we were 2 women without our other halves and it didn’t happen to us once.
Trips:
Stars & Dinner trip is great and cheap at around £32, see Jupiter, Saturn Vega and stars and smoke shish pipe meet Bedouins. The Bedouin tea tastes like benylin
Cairo by air was £160 and from 4am till approx 11pm but worth every penny
Luxor by air was boring unless you really into Egyptian history that was £177 from 4am till approx 6pm
Red Sea cruise to Ras Mohammed Snorkeling trip £36 excellent but don’t go to sun deck at rear of boat you will fry yourself get in the shade. 8.30am till 5ish
Hotel next door had cash machine and bank for changing travel cheques and has some shops too.
The shop within TGP the guy is a letch and will get you dressed up but tries to get you to strip off to get belly dancing clothes on.
All in all we loved it and would go back tomorrow if we had the money, would recommend this holiday and would definitely go back again.

May 2006, Miss L Cook

We arrived back Monday from this fabulous holiday. The Garden Palms has many qualities that you would expect from a hotel. Very clean, all inclusive food was varied and tasty, rooms were very spacious(though upstairs rooms have no balcony). The staff are very friendly and work really hard, nothing is a problem. It was hot from 7 til 7 and nothing to do during the day but sleep eat drink and swim.
Naama Bay(10 mins by courtesy bus) is lively after dark and a cab costs only £2.00 each way. Garden Palms also has a personal touch (unlike its sister hotel which was too big for me - Grand Oasis)
I think a week is enough of the intense heat but we are hoping to go back to the same hotel in October, I would recommend it to anyone.

May 2006, Mrs C Evans

Just returned from this hotel on Monday 8th May. I'd recommend this hotel, the staff treat you very well. The choice of food in the restaurant is good, breakfast is the only meal that’s not so good. The entertainment is a bit repetitive.
The trip by shuttle bus to El Gafy beach is a must, we only went there the day before coming home, and we regret not going there sooner, if you want to get up close and personal with the fish, this beach is a must. Also if you get a chance, go on the red sea cruise to Ras Mohammad, its a full day out on the red sea, lunch included and all soft drinks.
Don't go on stars and dine trip it’s not worth the money, the trip that went on the Sunday before we came home, were really disappointed and got some of their money back. Paul the Thomson rep who’s based at this hotel is very good and will give you any help needed. We hope to be able to go back next year.

Apr 2006, Mr M Burge

Cast aside those stereotypes of lecherous mad Arabs who will steal your children and buy your wife for a few camels...
Sharm is a fantastic place the people are humorous and witty, the accommodation is plain but classy and kept to a very high standard.
In two weeks there wasn’t a single upset tummy in the hotel and the food was both varied and plentiful.
The level of commercialisation is fairly low but high enough that you can find all you need. (A far more classy version of Spain 20yrs ago)
As a hint - do not tip everyone.. In fact within the hotel only tip those waiters that you feel deserve it and only once or twice a week at most.
Contrary to popular belief the staff earn a very good wage for Egyptian standards but they do rely on tips, so don’t be tight but don’t feel sorry for them. Many of the waiters regularly travel outside of Egypt, hence their language skills are so good.
The Tropicana Garden Palms is by far the nicest hotel I went to in Sharm (Nicer than the Hilton!) it doesn’t have a beach but you still have a free shuttle bus sun beds and towels at the local beach only a few minutes away. It is also nicer than its sister hotel the Grand Oasis.. Trust me it is!
I hope anyone who reads this has as good a time in Sharm as I did.

As four single women we had such a good time, two of us are going back in may. All the staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The rooms were very spacious and clean. Their English was exceptional and you never felt awkward as we were single. The food was excellent and there was always a good variety everyday.
The drinks were very good as was the bar service. The entertainment could have been better but never the less we still had a great holiday. Would recommend it to anyone whos looking for a lazy time.

We had a fantastic stay.
The staff were fantastic, they were all very friendly with a great sense of humour.
The food was great, you had local dishes as well as traditional English 'Shepherds Pie' for the less more adventurous person.
There was plenty of choice and fantastic range of puddings!!!
The room was very clean, fresh sheets/towels were changed daily, and again the staff were great.
The entertainment was not as hot, although you can catch a cab for £1.50 and go to the Local Naama Bay which is full of nightlife.
The weather was superb. We came back with a very healthy glow!!

Mar 2006, Ms D Lyons

Found room spotless and spacious and often arrived at our room with little surprises of animals made from blankets. Fresh flowers were often left on the beds and nothing was ever too much trouble for the cleaners.
Pool and pool bar staff were always polite and helpful. Pool area always spotless. The food was plentiful and you would have to like absolutely nothing to find something you didn’t like. All the bar staff were always helpful. Although the security people looked daunting they were always friendly.
A spotlessly clean hotel run by extremely friendly staff!!!!!!
All in all an excellent and relaxing holiday that is definitely recommended! Hoping to go back in October! A MUST!!!

Feb 2006, Mrs G Hunt

My husband and I returned from Sharm early hours of this morning, and I'm already considering returning to Garden Palms!
I've been on quite a few all inclusive holidays, but the service provided at this hotel was second to none.
Usually, the food at all inclusive hotels is repeated several times throughout a week, but I cannot say that any dish was served twice.
The rooms were cleaned every day and fresh bed linen was also provided daily. This I found very unusual for any hotel, (Including English) but once again, this added to the pleasure of our stay. We highly recommend to anyone!

Anyone who moans about coming to this...

Feb 2006, Miss A Hodge

Anyone who moans about coming to this hotel must have a serious problem with life itself and be a very miserable person!!!
Myself and my partner (25 & 32) spent a week at the beginning of February at the Tropicana Garden Palm and love every minute of it.
The hotel is constantly clean and tidy, the staff are excellent and very friendly, we went out to Naama bay a few nights with them.
The food is also brill for an all inclusive and we were not ill at all throughout the stay.
Yes there are planes going over ahead, but only about 4 a day and unless you are seriously uptight it does not bother you at all.
I am already looking to book to return trip for the end of the year.
IT A MUST STAY AT HOTEL!!!

We( party of 4 - two couples) left...
7 / 10
Feb 2006, Mr M Abson

We( party of 4 - two couples) left the cruise ship and arrived at the Garden Palms on Thursday 26th for our one week stay.
The rooms allocated were very spacious and cleaned daily to a very high standard, the staff were always very friendly and helpful.
BARS:
We were fully aware that only locally produced drinks were available as part of the all inclusive package, these as well as the standards of service at the bars proved to be well below that expected from a Thomson package.
Most drinks with mixers such as G&T and Bacardi and coke etc, when ordered were either too strong but more than often very weak. A request for ice (which was perfectly safe) was often looked upon as hassle by some bar staff. Filling the glass with the mixer then trying to add the spirit seemed the norm. If you order a diet coke/pepsi, observe what they serve you, normally it's from the nearest drink to them which isn't a diet one. Quite often the glasses were not very clean.
The biggest problem seemed to be the beer, my best example is from the upstairs terrace bar.
This bar has only Stella bottled beer, so your glass of beer is poured from a litre bottle, I ALWAYS found that the beer was flat. I decided to ask for a glass of beer from an unopened bottle of Stella, the barman then shook the bottle before opening it, quite surprised I stood back waiting for it to"explode", no it didn't, it came out just as flat. So, where does this beer come from, my guess is the bottles are refilled from the draught beer at the bars then re-capped. We had the same Stella beer in the Tropicana Grand Oasis, it was perfect as was beer purchased at other places.
RESTAURANT:
Only a tiny area allotted for non smoking. this is bad, although a smoker I never smoke in restaurants and found that you couldn't escape other people smoking.
Seems from my comments I was only concerned with drink which would be wrong. I found that standards are high throughout but why did so many residents go out on an evening may reflect my comments.
NEWSPAPERS:
Watch out for the guy who sells newspapers and magazines near the pool area., I know he's trying to make a living.
I bartered for a copy of the Mail on Sunday only to find that the crossword had been done, obviously an astute business man, getting the newspapers from the room cleaners, anyhow read the football results and sold it back to him, at a small loss!
Overall an enjoyable stay, although now almost t- total.
