Feb 2007, andynumpty

Hi, back from a week cruise & stay at The Tropicana Garden Palms hotel. Here are my opinions on the hotel & location.
1 Location - 15 mins from airport, 5 mins from Naama Bay by transport. Free shuttle bus to sister hotels (great for snorkelling), taxi to Naama Bay only pay 20 Egypt Pound (£2.00), make sure you agree price before getting in car.
2 Food/drinks - 9/10. Very good quality & choice. Waiters very pleasant & helpful. Sakara, the local larger is very good.
3 Pools - 2 pools, one heated.
4 Bar staff - Very pleasant. Tall waiter in lobby bar good, 'Kenny' Dagleish at heated pool very good as is young Amr the porter in hotel lobby.
The staff are very low paid compared to ourselves, about £30 per month, and work all hours. At end of week the odd £5/£10 to pool attendants & bar staff who look after you is much welcome, so don't be tight!!!
5 Entertainment- poor.
My opinion about this hotel is, it is of good standard, rooms more like 3 star, but food & staff very good.
If you want a week’s holiday doing nothing but sunbathing, eating & drinking in the hotel it’s recommended. But there is nothing to do on a night.
Me & my girlfriend went to Naama Bay every night for a little night life but were very disappointed. After seeing the 3-4 bars to sample, it became a bit boring after a while.
Best place we found was The Hard Rock Cafe. Not only was the food good but about 1/3 of the price at home.
Also the bar area was lively and turned to a disco late on. Not a place to go if you like partying the night away.

Just returned from staying in the Tropicano Palms Hotel in Sharm and must say we had a wonderful time.
All staff were friendly. The best barman was Kenny Dagleish ( his Nickname) He smiles all the time and had a drink ready on table when he seen you arriving. Nothing was to much trouble.
The health club supplies everything you need from a pedicure to a facial. Its a must to get a beauty package, I got a pedicure, manicure, leg and hand massage, full facial, eyebrow shape, nails varnished all for £34.
Ahla the manager was brilliant and good looking too. He would tell you about all his family and he wanted to hear all about our family too.
The food superb, and those deserts were mouth watering. Downside was the flies and the entertainment. But would recommend it to anyone considering booking. One week is ideal as there is not much else to do but sun bathe, two weeks could get boring. We did a week stay and a week cruise which was ideal.
Met so many nice people, there was Jenny and Will with there two lovely lads Jason and Steven. Alison and Rod who we had a laugh with each evening.

Jan 2007, Miss G Merridan

Arrived back from the Tropicana on New Years day night.
Everything about the holiday was fantastic, especially the hotel staff. Ahmed AKA as Kenny Dalglish was the best. He never saw you with an empty glass and was always there with a smile.
The food was excellent. Every meal was different. The vegetables were exceptional. The chefs are very friendly and cannot do enough for you in order to satisfy those taste buds!
The only let down was the entertainment.
I would definitely recommend this hotel without any hesitation!

Nov 2006, Miss A Bater

Had a fantastic holiday here. We read the reviews of the hotel before we went and everything was true that had been said about it.
The staff were brilliant - could not do enough for you and so friendly. Always there with a drink - most of the time no need to ask it just appears!!! Food was really good with plenty of choice.
Weather was beautiful - even though it meant getting up early to get a full day in the sun as the sun sets early! It was a good time to go as it wasn't manically busy and no problems getting sun beds.
Hotel was spotlessly clean and the cleaning of the room was exceptional. Really nice touches as well like a bit of towel origami!! We both had a massage while we were there - again this was very professional and very relaxing!!!
Definitely recommend the Ras Mohammed Cruise. Snorkelling was amazing - I have dived at the Great Barrier Reef and I think I saw much more here. Guides very professional and really look after you.
Only thing that was a slight let down was the evening entertainment. It wasn't up to much and finished very early. It seemed that the acts just did a turn and then went onto the next hotel. There was a disco but did not really play music that interested everybody.

Absolutely fantastic. Staff so friendly. I work for another tour operator abroad and was impressed by the standard of food and the hotel in general. This is my first time to Sharm/Egypt and I want to go back. The only draw back was the entertainment which finished around 10 but sat in the terrace bar with our friends harassing the very good looking Ahmed and Sammy (not forgetting Adel) we managed to tire ourselves out. The England waterpolo team we managed to put together to take on the Russians was organised by Zoë and taken very seriously ha ha!!!
In all I would recommend this hotel and the rep Paul was lovely. To Christine our guide for bar crawl, I’m sorry we disappeared on you but hey Mc D's was calling, by the way go to Pizza Hut....10 pax £35!!!! That for drinks, starters and pizza and tastes as good as UK if not better. The Tavern bar is popular with the Brit's and the workers so definitely worth a visit.
Trips---- Got to do the Pyramids well worth it and the Mega day with Thomson is a nice way to end the holiday. Swimming with the dolphins, great experience but I was not happy being charged £35 for the DVD as you are not allowed to take your video camera in but hey guess what on the Mega day you get to watch the dolphins do a display and YES you can film that!
I understand they have a business and to look after the dolphins but £35 on top of the £62 is a bit steep.
Anyway not to end on a low...Thank you to all the staff at the hotel and Thomson for a fantastic holiday, maybe see you in Gran Canaria.
Amanda xx

This was my first time ever in Egypt. It was absolutely fantastic. The weather was great, the hotel was gorgeous. The Staff were very nice and very friendly. They go out of their way to do anything for you to ensure you have a great holiday.
The facilities were first class. I could not fault this holiday at all.
I enjoyed it so much, I can’t wait to go back. Heartfelt thanks to all the staff I got to know and who made my holiday the best time of my life.

Oct 2006, surfer

Well what a holiday we had at this resort, the hotel was excellent, staff were friendly, they made the holiday so stress free. One of the things I will highlight on was the hotel's reception staff especially, Adle he is the man to see if you want anything special sorting out e.g. Birthdays or anything like that. The hotel grounds and Surroundings are spotless as well as the rooms always tidy and clean.
The food was superb always plenty of choice lots to choose from I don't think anyone could honestly say that there was nothing there for them to eat. The pool and the bar staff were always polite and were always there whatever you needed nothing was to much trouble. We were situated by the smaller of the 2 swimming pools and the pool man there was Mohamad, what a great guy he was. All in all there is nothing we could say that was wrong with this resort or hotel.
Our Thomson rep was Paul and Christine but Paul was for our hotel, ok we all know that the rep's have to sell tours and alike but we found that Paul was not like that . Paul always said from the start if you have a problem tell me, we had one or two minor things but Paul dealt with them in a professional manner and for that I would say he is a credit to his company, good on you Paul keep up the good work.
The only 2 things that we could say to improve this hotel would be the entertainment and perhaps a dress code for evening meal. Many thanks to all at The Tropicana Garden Palms hope to see you all in the near future.

Sep 2006, Mr R Aitken

We only booked last minute with Thomson’s 48hrs before at a very reasonable price. Imagine our delight when we allocated to this hotel.
ROOMS---Big enough and comfortable enough ,however spotlessly clean and our cleaner Wadeel deserves a pat on the back for his attention to detail including flowers laid out on the bed with nice messages.
POOL/POOL BAR----Although there are 2 pools we stayed mainly at the bigger of the two especially as the pool bar staff especially Sammy and Ahmed treated you like royalty, whenever your glass was empty or nearly empty a refill arrived if you asked them, unlike most other all inclusive I have done but this time with civility and no queuing!!! The towels provided every day for the pool where normally supplied by Naseen who should be promoted to Entertainments manager -what a lovely guy, the pool was perfect as was the sunbeds with cushions and large parasols.
FOOD---Although only there for a week was outstanding I ate everything and cannot recall duplication except the obvious breakfast things, the staff and management deserve credit once again
TRIPS---Didn’t bother as didn’t want to miss any meals!!!
Anybody looking for quality--don’t miss this hotel will definitely be going back.

Sep 2006, Mrs L Leisk

Just got back last night from an allocation on arrival late deal holiday. We couldn’t have got a better hotel if we had pre booked. Can’t give one fault.
Staff friendly from the manager to the gardener nothing too much trouble. Hotel spotless, food excellent, rooms clean and spacious, weather red hot. Shuttle bus service to the beach and into town is free and regular.
Snorkelling a must just like diving into a fish tank! Perfectly safe wherever you go security is tight and reassuring. Taxis are an experience (two lane roads can become four lanes at times) lots of bargains if you like to haggle. So much to see and do I can’t wait to go back only this time it won’t be allocation on arrival it will be a definite booking for the Tropicana garden palms.

Welcome when we first arrived we were...

Aug 2006, Miss C Hepburn

Welcome
when we first arrived we were welcomed very well with a little drink, and our suitcases were taken up to our rooms, the check-in was no hassle at all and didn't have to wait long.
Food
The food is excellent, there is a diet corner, oriental corner, kids corner there is something for everyone and the desserts are to die for! On a Friday night there is a poolside meal with is very lovely.
Rooms
The Rooms were excellent and cleaned every day with fresh linen, fresh towels and a bag for the bin. The bathrooms are very nice and large. There is a mini-fridge under the TV which is very good for bottles of water, there is also a TV in the room with a few satellite channels like BBC sports and stuff like that.
Pools and Sun beds
There are 2 main pools, 1 in each area, the pools are very nice and large there isn't that many sun beds though so you better get down sharpish to get one! You can get one with a marquee or parasol, the parasols are better if you would prefer more shade.
Facilities
There is a health Club there, I didn't use it the time I was there but I heard it was very good with an indoor pool. You can get massages! A must the day before you come back home they are very relaxing and very cheap! Upstairs in the hotel there is a snooker table that is 10 L.E I think for an hour, there is people beside the door that sell photos and seas cope submarine, I suggest to get photo's but not to go on the sea scope submarine.
Trips
While we were there for 2 weeks we went to St. Katherines Monastry, snorkeling, Stars and Dinner, Aqualand and Quad biking, they were all very good but on all of the trips you can not get away from the camera man they are very annoying, you can buy a DVD for 150 L.E (£15 English) and we bought 2 but the other times we didn't bother. But they were excellent value for money. I definitely recommend the snorkeling it is a chance in a lifetime!
I give this hotel 9/10.

Jul 2006, Mr D M Holden

Very friendly, welcoming and spotless hotel. No problems with the food apart from the Friday outdoor BBQ which was suspect.
The staff are very obliging and friendly. The two pools are very clean and there are many sun beds but as with many hotels around the world the best areas get taken very early even if when there is no one about. Only a short very cheap taxi ride to Naama Bay. Evening entertainment only starts at 10pm and is finished by midnight so everyone can get a good sleep.
The sun sets from the balcony bar are spectacular. The only real downside when we were there was the aircraft landing at the nearby airport, they could get annoying at times. Best tip if your not going outside the Sinei you don't need a visa at the airport.

I arrived back from Sharm El Sheikh...
8 / 10
Jul 2006, Miss V Parmar

I arrived back from Sharm El Sheikh yesterday and I'm so depressed because I absolutely loved everything about this place. I just didn't want to leave! Everything was fab, the room, the weather, the food, the facilities. all the staff were so friendly and the overall atmosphere was so relaxing and friendly.
We went on the Ras Mohammed Cruise, which involved three snorkelling stops in the Red Sea. All three snorkelling stops were breathtakingly beautiful, the sea was so clear and I saw so many exotic fishes and corals. I was apprehensive about snorkelling as it was my first time and general nerves just took over, but I explained this to one the professional divers on board and he reassured me that we'd all be safe and that I could wear a life jacket if I wished.
He also said that we'd all be in small groups with the professional divers so there would always be somebody there. Once I was in the sea I definitely relaxed as I felt safe, it allowed me to enjoy this completely new and amazing experience!
And yes, haggling is a definite to ensure some good holiday souvenirs, and it's fun!
I just can't wait to go back there!
