Portinaff!
from Holiday-Lover81
PORTINAFF!!! Rey Apartments are very basic but lovely views from pool area, quite cramped sunbathing area. The staff are all very helpful and friendly, snack bar food for daytime is ok but again limited menu. Large spacious apartments are cleaned apparantly every other day but I would question this. We were lucky enough to be allocated to block 4A so had a sea view from the balcony, if you are on any floor lower then you will have a view of greenery/wall. Go for an ALL INCLUSIVE OR HALF BOARD hotel as otherwise you will be disappointed. If you want a good selection of restaurants to eat at DO NOT go to Portinatx!!!!! There are a handful of restaurants to choose from but they all serve the same food and dont seem interested in serving you. Limited Kids menu so the children will have to live on the same thing everyday. There was 1 nice restaurant along the beach on a roof top, good service but again a limited menu so unless you want to eat the same every day then you will get bored. Much nice resorts on Ibiza if you do want Self Catering such as Es Cana and Santa Eulalia which are both ideal for couples or families.
OK - but could be better

Initially given one of the rooms facing the cliff - view non-existent and apartment very gloomy. Also facilties bit grubby and tired eg. very tempramental kettle, gas cooker tiny and kept cutting out if put on low setting. Mattresses very weary. Managed to get a move after 5 days but was charged 30 euros for the privilege. Much better - lovely view over Potinatx bay. I got the impression these apartments are privately owned by individuals then let out by the managing company - therefore the quality of decor and facilties depends on the owners of the individual apartment - bit pot luck how nice your apartment is therefore. This wasn't made clear by travel agent - its a question I'll ask in future. On the positive side - good position just across from beach. The restaurant was also very good - great paella. Swimming pool area very nice - overlooks the bay - bar a bt pricey 3.5 euros for half litre of lager. Portinatx is nice if you want a quiet resort - bars and restaurants and nice beaches and cliffs, but that's about it. Also quite isolated - limited ferry service to nearby Port St Miguel - but nothing like the regular ferry services that cover ther south side of Ibiza. Bus services also limited. More negatives - no entertainment apart for one night. No TV. No other facilities eg tennis
beautiful view

Myself, husband and 2 teenage sons stayed in Del Rey apartments for two weeks after which we were extremely fit with walikg up all the flights of stairs and also really tired as all we good hear every night until approxc 1.00 am was the evening entertainment from the nearby hotels which seemed to be competing with each other to see who could play the loudest karoke numbers (not the beautiful balearic music I expected from previuos visits to the island !!). The apartments where very basic with no oven so it was really hard to cook as it was self catering. All the soft furnishins ie matresses, sofa bed , the dining chairs were stained but fresh towels were provided every other day anfd the apartment s were cleaned. The view from the balcony over the bay and the view of the sunset were stunning so we sat out there the majority of the time. Also Portinatz is really remote so I would recommend hiring a car if you have teenagers who want to go to San An. or Ibiza Town !! The beaches opposite the apartments are lovely and it's worth waling out to the north of the town up to the cliffs where the light house is, breath taking views!! For eating out we did enjoy Del Boys restaurant as it's family run and we were looked after really well looked after. Suming up Del Ray apartments are basic and grubby but the price of the holiday wasn't cheap. Portinax is beautiful but remote. Wouldn't recomend to friends or family though!!
Not what we expected!

Arrived at 4am. Reception was closed and this was not the nicest of experiences as it was very dark, but eventually a non- English speaking girl turned up. She took us to our apartments but we had to chase after her as she had given us the other couples that we arrived with. Our apartment had been cleaned but the beds had not been made! This was sorted immediately the next day after i spoke to the manager, along with a new kettle as the one we had was disgusting. These apartments could do with updating especially the kitchen facilities. Strange layout and not suitable for prams or those with walking difficulties. There is only 1 lift which only takes you up so far the rest is all stairs. Pool area is clean enough but come high season there will be a sun lounger problem. There are insufficient and then there is the typical towel on bed problem! Portinax is tiny with very little entertainment. Two pubs Vincents and Del boys. Both of these are the typical holiday entertainment which is not of the highest quality. Plenty of restaurants with catering for mosr tastes. The Thai restaurant along the prom is nice and good value. The Zulu Lounge was a disappointment as we left after 1hour 15 mins without food! There is a chinese restaurant opposite Del Ray but our meal was filled out with raw cabbage! If you are thinking of holidaying in Portinax with children then pick one of the three hotels on offer with plenty of entertainment or you will be driven to distraction! I would not recommend Portinax or the Del Ray to those looking for a lively holiday action packed holiday. If it is peace and a lazy time you require then go for it. We enjoyed our holiday as we were after a relaxed time and we were only there for 1 week.
brill place!!!!!!!

have just returned from the del ray apts in portinax.very nice and clean rooms.there was loads of space as we had a two bedroom apartment. each bedroom had its own bath/showeroom which would come in handy if away with friends.the swimming pool was really lovely, the water, we think was sea water and being an infinite style pool, the view was simply stunning, over the bay!!!!! the apts location is set on a hill and you need to use the lift first then 2 flights of stairs, so not ideal for wheelchairs, or pushchairs. the apts are based about a one min walk from portinaxs small village square.there are 4 or 5 little supermarkets, a few souviner shops and enough bars and restarants.we mainly ate at a english run bar called del boys,as the food was great and there was different entertainment each night too. overall a very nice place. we would definitely go back!!!!
great stay at del rey

just returned from a week at the del ray. agree with all other reviews. simple but clean. fantastic view from balcony. overall lovely resort . enjoyed the walks which are marked by signposts some may be a little tricky for the less able. In the laundry room at the del ray left behind lilos, dingys armbands even a pushchair are available to use during your stay free of charge.
great value

Just come back from a two week holiday at the del rey.Thought it was very good value for the price i paid. First holiday abroad on my own with my two girls and felt very safe. The bay was beautiful just how i pictured it.I wanted a quiet and relaxing holiay and if thats what your looking for then portinax is the place.Pool and beach both excellant. Rooms very basic but very clean. Staff very friendly especially Bridgette in recption really lovely lady.Only one complaint for me was it really could of done with air condtioning. very very hot at night time. Restaurants lots of really nice ones my favourite had to be la ciguena pricey but beautiful with stunning view overlooking the bay.All in all had a really lovely holiday and would love to go back again one day.
Overpriced resort
from CTFCfan
Just returned after a week at the Rey apartments with my 2 daughters, aged 16 & 12,we were unaware when we booked this holiday just how far out the resort was and how limited activities for youngsters is.Apart from pool table and swimming pool there really isn't anything else for teenagers. The resort offers good quality restaurants but compared to other resorts in Ibiza we found them to be very overpriced(because the resort is so far out they have a captive clientle),even beer prices were twice as high as we saw elsewhere. After 2 days we hired a car for three days which enabled us to get out and about, but major roadworks made this quite an effort!! The apartments are far from luxurious,we had a one bedroom apt with a pullout sofa bed in lounge.Catering in the apartment not really an option with just gas rings and no oven.Despite being basic the apartment was spotlessly clean with sheets/towel change three times during our weeks stay. The bacony views are very good,we had a top floor room which was a hard climb up stairs to,but well worth it to sit and watch fantastic sunsets in the evenings. Potinatx beach beautiful with clean beach and clear waters(wonderful to swim with fish). Hotel staff were excellent, very helpful and pleasant at all times, particularly brigette in reception whose english is first class! Hope to visit Ibiza again soon, but would choose a resort with a bit more life .
enjoyed the del rey
from kaka27
our first room at the del rey was awful but one visit to Brigette at reception and we were moved straight away. biggest problem was no air conditioning. we had to travel to ibiza town and buy one (about 30euros). we hardly slept because of this. the rooms are very basic but clean. the pool area is lovely and no scramble for loungers which i really liked. you could visit the pool area any time and get seats together. the only disappointment was that because the pool has a waterfall edge, they are very very strict ..no lilos etc. most people then moved to the beach to use all the stuff they had bought on arrival. the pool staff are ok but sometimes too strict. i suppose because there was no life guard at the pool. they are very strict with food and drink at the pool. not even your own water is allowed. that was annoying too. but overall, i liked the pool area. portinax is lovely, very family friendly (not for groups of young people at all though) and the resturaunts are good although no competition going on which makes everything quite expensive. i was disappointed in the shops though....first time i havent bought shoes, bags etc. Overall a very good holiday and i would certainly return here. very very hot though in July so watch out!!!
Del rey - portinatx ibiza 2006

Well i must admit i was abit nervous about staying in portinatx ,as i had read mixed reviews on the internet before flying out. When you save all year and book that far in advance - you expect to go on a perfect holiday . I hope my review puts your mind at rest The Del Rey apartments are excellent value for money. In my party there were 5 adults and 1 infant. The accomodation consisted of a pull out sofa bed , two singles and an ensuite room with a further 2 single beds. There was also a 2nd bathroom in the hallway, a kitchen and a gorgeous balcony, that was ideal if you have children as there were no little gaps for little ones to squeeze through. The view was over looking the town square and the beautiful sea view. The lift worked the whole time we were there and we only had a few stairs to walk our toddler up when we had to get to our apartment. There is a swimming pool area cosnsiting of a bar and snacks that were brilliant. There were also 2 pool tables at the pool side. The staff at the pool and the cafe real( which is part of the del rey apartments - directly underneath the apartments infact) were all excellent. If you wanted something which wasn't on the menu - then they would try and fix it for you. Tony the manager and Bridgette who ran the office would go out of their way to assist you. The only thing i would recommend if you are travelling in a party similar to the size of mine - is to limit the time you take in the shower. As the hot water would regularly run out before the 6 of us had showered. Probably more our fault then anyone elses !!!! The good thing was that it only took a couple of hours to heat up again so we managed to get into a better routine by the end of the holiday. The cleaners came every other day to clean and change the beds and lay fresh towels - which was just right. They were pleasant and helpful - they can turn up anytime from mid morning until early evening. Dont forget that Ibiza has a siesta - so alot of places open morning , shut early afternoon and open again late afternoon/teatime till late. We stayed in Del rey for 2 weeks which was ample amount of time if you like a few busy days and then a few lazy days on the beach. The problem with portinatx is that its difficult to get in and out of. Its several miles to the next nearest town - so if your fit then the 14 mile walk shouldnt bother you - some of our party did the hike and have told me it was gorgeous scenery along the way. The buses are every two hours and run from 9 am - 18.00pm - so you have to plan your journey in advance to be on the safe side. Taxi's line the streets - but once again agree a fair before you travel. The minature railway is value for money - it lasts 3-4 hrs and takes you to neighbouring towns and beaches, but it is a tour - so you have to follow the schedule and make sure your back on the train if given a time. If you get time the glass bottom boat is again great value for money. The people of portinatx are very friendly and speak very good english. Delboys and Vincents are great for a few drinks - there are about another 12 bars and restaurants, maybe more- within walking distance. A couple of shops for food and plenty of souvenir and clothes shops, even a pharmacy and photo shop. I was pleased as i didn't expect there to be anything from reviews i had read. All in all it was a fab two weeks, with lovely beaches and great weather. I have a great tan and wonderful memories. i definietely can't wait to return in a couple of years time .
I read the reviews before i came on holiday and panicked but it isnt that bad. The main problem i had with the apparment was the extra costs and the mis-selling of it. It was advertised to have a fully equipped kitchen and we had a cupboard with a couple of hob rings and a... more
