We visited Sungarden in Oct 07 and thought this hotel was fantastic. The only let down however, was the entertainment but did not bother us too much. I had read quite a few reviews on this hotel before we visited, so knew about the entertainment not being quite so good but chose this because of the cleanliness of the hotel and food. All of which was fantastic and could not have asked for more in that respect. First Choice do know about the entertainment situation and have stated they are looking into this.
The staff at the hotel were always very happy and great with the kids. The hotel is situated on the outskirts of Aiya Napa and we caught several buses going into town and back to Nissi Beach which is well worth a visit and also Portaros and Waterworld. All the buses charged were £0.80cyp and they were every 20mins outside the hotel which was good.
This was the first time we had gone all inclusive and was a bit dubious but need not have been, we were glad as the food and drink outside the hotel could have proved to be quite expensive.
Had a fantastic holiday and would definitely return.

* Great hotel,
* 5 minute walk to beach,
* 20 minute walk to Ayia Napa,
* Friendly and helpful Staff,
* A wide variety of daytime activities,
* A wide variety of children's activites; but you must be able to speak German,
* Children's evening entertainment was also in German.

We travelled here on the 25/07/07 for 2 weeks with 2 adults and 2 children. Other than the distance from the resort centre a thoroughly good 4 star hotel. Good food but the entertainment was lacking for the English but that did not really bother us to much.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good 4 star all inclusive hotel. There are a lot of different nationalities here but that did not affect us at all. We made plenty of English friends and we all had a very good time.
Very good swimming pools and right on the beach, very clean and the staff are really friendly. Be prepared to walk up a very steep hill though if you want to walk into town.(get a taxi) about 5 pounds !

Just returned from the Club Atlantica spent two weeks there with the hubby and two of my boys aged 17 and 12. The 17 year old didn’t want to come back home because of all the girls and friends he made and the clubbing side of things, my 12 year old did like it but felt a bit awkward as the kids club only catered for the German kids, only a few spoke English.
Hotel itself is very nice and most of the staff are nice. Food was not much, same thing every day, so on a few meals just had chip butties... all you men out there in ya room you get a playstation my hubby was well pleased with that but you never thing of packing ya Fifa 2006 lol..
And if you want to go to the beach and you’re a smoker christ you know it when you want to return to the hotel, I thought I was going to have a heart attack a few time's and I’m only 38.
Love Cyprus been there 3 times now but if you want to stay at a pukka hotel try Anastasia hotel in Protaras a much better hotel and the food is excellent.
When I go back to Cyprus it will be at the Anastasia, would of gone there this year but hotel was fully booked.. happy holiday give it a try, it’s not that bad.

Absolutely fantastic been to Cyprus loads of times every year used to go to Protaras Cappo Bay May 06.
The Atlantica was far superior staff, rooms, views, just as good. Food choice best ever had. Can not say enough to praise this fantastic place or this hotel will be back you will love it.
This review may be short but it's true and to the point people of all ages had a brilliant time when we were there what more can I say!

I have to say me and my partner were quite worried before going to this hotel as we had read some quite bad reviews. But I can assure you this was a brilliant hotel, with beautiful views in the perfect location. The hotel was itself was gorgeous and very spacious. There are two large pools and they never got overcrowded, plenty of sun loungers, the only problem being there is no breeze by the pool so can get very hot.
Lots of daytime activities for children and adults both German and English.
The entertainment at night was great, a kids disco until 9.30pm then quizzes, games, singers, magicians and impersonators for the adults normally going on until midnight, which suited us fine as we could then go out into Ayai Napa and hit the clubs.
The centre of Ayia napa is a 20 minute walk away or about £4 Cypriot ponds in a taxi, where there is something for everyone. The famous nissi beach is a must, as well as the themed water park which can be reached by bus for 80 pence each.
Our room in the hotel was great, it was very spacious and the maids cleaned them everyday. As we stayed in one of the bungalows around the pool we had a large balcony with private sun loungers looking out towards the pool, which was great for escaping to. The restaurant food was your usual buffet style, plenty of choice gets boring though. As a Thomson guest we were entitled to one A la Carte meal per week which I have to say was delicious, and with 5 courses and a great atmosphere was a lovely night. On our second week it was my partners birthday, so we had booked our A la Carte meal for that night, we weren’t disappointed. They brought him a large cake with candles and all the staff sang Happy Birthday and made it a night to remember.
The hotel itself is situated on a steep hill with a path leading down to a gorgeous beach that never gets too busy. Although you do have to pay for the sun loungers down there. There are plenty of water sports and boat trips. One boat trip in particular was £2.50 each and lasted all day. There was a chance for snorkelling and swimming in the crystal clear waters of Protaras and you also get to see the ghost town of Famagusta- well worth the money.
Overall this two week holiday was the best I have ever had, a beautiful hotel, hot weather and well worth the money we paid. I would recommend this holiday to couples, families and groups of friends, not suitable for people with walking difficulties as it is set on a hill.

We stayed at the Atlantcia Sungarden beach on an all inclusive basis in July. This was our third time abroad on an all inclusive basis and this was by far the best. The food was always piping hot and offered a very good variety with most meats being offered each night.
You also got the chance to have one a la carte meal for each week of your stay and this was outstanding. All the waiters and waitresses were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were cleaned daily to a very high standard and towels were changed daily. Towels for the sun beds were provided and these were changed at poolside every third day. If you wanted you could take them to reception to change them earlier.
The rooms were very spacious and comfortable double bed a real bonus. There were two pools and we never really had a job to get a sun bed. When we arrived a British entertainment team had just been set up and they were all very good and made our holiday, apart from the entertainment team there were also professional acts most evenings. There was a wide range of cocktails included in the all inclusive and drinks were served at your tables, the waiters just took your order and bought it to you.
When ordering drinks with your tea I would recommend that you sit down order your drinks and wait for them to arrive before going to get your food as in their busy periods the drinks could sometimes take a while to arrive.
This was quite a mixed nationality hotel but we found everyone to be extremely friendly and during our stay the entertainment both daytime and evening was catered for all nationalities but like I said they had just bought in an English entertainment team and German entertainment tended to be outside in the amphitheatre and the English upstairs in the bar. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

I booked this holiday about a month before departure as Thomson Price Breaker so didn't know that this would be where my boyfriend and I were staying.
The hotel itself had only recently been refurbished so everything was clean and new.
The rooms themselves were very modern in decor and more than comfortable. The staff at this hotel were always very friendly.
Considering this hotel is in the lively resort of Ayia Napa it was very quiet. But should you want the night life it is only 10mins walk away and all in one little square.
The beach is also only 2mins walk away with all the watersports you could want.
There were two small downsides to this hotel.
The food was a little repetitive and I wouldn't have wanted to eat there for more than the week we stayed. Saying that there is something for everyone.
The only other downside is that although this hotel does have some entertainment, it is mainly for the kids and unfortunately most of it is in German.
Having said that if all you want is a relaxing break away with the opportunity of a little night life, then I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel is shown in the Thomsons brochure as a 4t, the hotel is in reality a 3 star although the pools and views are 5 star. The hotel is spread out over several blocks and some are quite a distance from the reception area, the rooms are fine, if you are traveling as a family then storage could be a problem.
The food is on the whole good although after a week did become a bit boring, if you have booked with Thomsons take advantage of the free al a carte meal this was lovely, make sure you book it before 7.00pm the previous evening or you won’t get in. The entertainment was the worst I have ever encountered not just because it had the appearance of a children’s school production (5 to 7years) but because it was all in German.
Even the kids club and daytime events were in German not very good if you were expecting to stay in the hotel with young children. If this is an important part of your holiday then its not for you. The hotel is on the outskirts of the resort with not much round it, if you want to get a taxi then the cost is 4 Cypriot pounds.

Wow! What an amazing holiday. This was the first holiday abroad me and my boyfriend went on and we absolutely loved every minute of it. We got the holiday for £1000 approx and now we want to go back. The hotel is a 15-20min walk to Ayia Napa centre and it's amazing, we even made friends with a Japanese woman (who was advertising a restaurant) whilst we were there! Ayia Napa is the most amazing place, so busy and lively, even in May.
There are hundreds of bards, clubs, shops. Anything you want. Me and my boyfriend got our portrait painted just outside 'The Square' (where all the clubs and bars are) and it's well worth it, think we paid 50cyp£ for it, and it's really, really good. The hotel itself is so clean, the rooms were perfect in everyway, although if you had a shower the whole bathroom would flood because you stood in a tiny tray but we found this funny rather than annoying. The food was repetitive sometimes but there was lots of choice and it was always hot and good quality.
We went for al a carte on the last night and it was lovely (apart from the screaming baby) and the waiter was so friendly. The pool bar was great, free ice creams and drinks all day, whilst I indulged in banana ice creams my boyfriend drank pina coladas all day in the sun. The pool is clean and very beautiful, especially the infinity pool but even in May we struggled to get sun beds but we just added more around the pool if they had run out. The hotel is a minute walk down to a small beach which is nice for a stroll and a quick dip but if you want a real beach then go to Nissi Beach, what a beach!
Maybe not so much a family beach but it's definitely an Ayia Napa beach, music and a dj, white sand, beautiful sea, water sports (very cheap too), food, drinks. The beach is mainly full of young adults who have come to Ayia Napa to club but this wasn't a problem for us and has the best day ever on that beach, my boyfriend also says it's amazing for snorkeling too. We also went to the water park close by and although it was fun it was a tiny bit chilly and aimed at children rather than adults although we still had a great day.
Overall we had the best holiday of our lives, everything was perfect, perfect hotel, food, beaches, pools. The lot! I advise anyone to go there although the entertainment team leaves a lot to be desired and most entertainment is in German but this didn't bother us. Hope this helped!
