Peaceful Oasis
from Loutka
Hotel Morina is situated at the very back of Olu Deniz, about 15 -20minutes walk to the beach and seafront restaurants and shops, which suited me very well as I enjoyed the peaceful location of the hotel at the end of the day and a bit orf excercise especially as it initially passess through such glorious greenery and interesting plants. However, I was not keen to repeat that walk after a busy day once I returned to the hotel at night. I ate out only once in Olu and once in Fethyie- at the fish market where they coook the fish you buy for you, superb, otherwise I preferred to eat in the hotel. The food in the hotel was freshly prepared, unpretentious ,healthy and tasty. The set menu of about TL 20 was a good value, and I always looked forward to the Turkish breakfast in the morning, when the air was still cool and scented with eucalyptus and pine. The clientele in the hotel was mixed, Turkish families with young children, backpackers, couples , independent travellers, some British people on package holidays. There was not any nightlife to speak of in the hotel which was fine for me, apart from the cheerful Haki- the barman, keeping everybody entertained . So if you want to party, this is not it. The hotel did not feel busy although by the time I left-23.7. more people on package holidays were arriving . Olu Denize is a superb place, it is beautiful , and there is a lot to do apart from the lovely beach, sun and sea, especially if you also enjoy history, sight seeing, scuba diving and don't miss the most fabulous experience of paragliding. The accommodation , it is a 2star hotel , was functionally basic, spotlessly clean but not spacious . As somebody said before, the exchange rate is much better in Turkey and you can pay in £s for excursions. there are some pretty special places to visit.

...wasn't looking for a good hotel as I knew there was lot to see around the area so I just wanted a place where to sleep and the morina hotel did the job. Good thing is the location, very close to the beach. Room are pretty bad but again is a 2 stars hotel so can't expect anything more. I found the staff hotel to be pretty rude except for the super cool gardener that believe it or not was more helpful that anyone else there (I know people will say things against this but this was my personal experience and believe me I'm quite nice to people and have been travelling a lot). Finally breakfast is always the same, eatable but you get bored after few days. Would try somewhere else if I go back to Oludeniz!
lovely hotel

we have been staying at this hotel for the past 16 years in our opinion it has one of the best locations in Olu Deniz, peaceful with great views of the bay yet near enough to the beach. bars. and restaurants (10 minutes at the most ). Its a small family run hotel rooms all have air con the sheets and towels are changed every other day the pool is always clean and fresh. Meals both lunch time and evenings are cooked fresh and always delicious. We would recommend this hotel for families and couples who are looking for a small simple family run hotel with bags of true Turkish hospitality
A wee gem of a hotel with fab staff

We first went to Olu Deniz last Sept / Oct and really loved the area. We don’t normally go back somewhere twice - especially in a short space of time (there is a huge world out there just waiting to be discovered!) However - for a two-week holiday in the sun to a place that is so friendly - it just can't be beaten. I spoke to lots of people who feel the same way… My husband and I stayed here at the end of May / start of June 2007. We paid 209 and booked it November 2006. This included 2 weeks b and b, flights and return transfer. When we arrived we were the only guests - a lot of other places were also very quiet. The most guests that seemed to be there at anytime during our stay were 8 - including us. This was mainly due to it being right at the start of the season. We stayed in the 'newer' block - furthest from the mosque (which yes - you can hear but after a day or so we were sleeping through it). The staff were fantastic - very friendly and very funny. Hacki and Dolmus (please excuse my rubbish spelling!) were the main staff that we had contact with as they dealt with reception / bar and some of the breakfast stuff. We also had some translated conversations with Mehmet - they guy who tends to the grounds (has a very placid dog called Max who seems to sleep all day!). Only ate at the hotel in the evening once - on our last night as we were being picked up at 7pm. The food was excellent and all the veg was straight from the well-stocked garden (we saw it being picked!). Breakfasts (served 8 - 10am) were of the usual Turkish fare. The bar stocked the usual and had a good ice cream selection and sold large bottles of water – 2 lira, large efes 3.5 lira. As these were value for money, in turn it made us maybe have a few more drinks in the hotel than we would normally do in a hotel bar before we went out for the night...and a few more when we came back! Rooms were basic (no tv, phone or fridge - but were certainly big enough and met our needs). If there had been a fridge to chill beer in in our room we probably wouldn’t have had Dolmus still up at 3am on several occasions whilst we had 'one for the road' - which always turned in to several for the road and I managed to earn the nickname 'Alcoholic Lady’! From our balcony we had a wonderful view - could see the sea and the mountain. We didn’t need a/c till our 2nd week. Did the usual boat trips and also did a 'sunset' cruise. We were thinking this would have as many folk on it who would be on a daytime boat trip - not so! Again - very quiet - due to the time of the season - there were myself and my husband, 3 other passengers, the captain and the chef on a wee boat. It was a very funny experience and because of the size of the boat we were able to have a quick diversion to where there were some dolphins swimming about. If you are going on a sunset cruise though - check out the drinks prices before you book. A small efes on board this one was either 4 or 6 lira - cant remember which. Went diving again with European Diving Centre - we booked and paid before we left and got a buy one get one half price offer. So we did two days diving with them - again - can highly recommend going with these guys. Most places in the area only seem to do two dives a day - but they do 3 as standard and are a very professional 5star IDC centre. It ended up working out at 12.50 per dive per person and 20 between us for our equipment for the two days diving. Anyhow... back to the hotel....I know there are some negative reports on here but please don’t let that put you off - this hotel is excellent. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back to the Morina Hotel. Its location is ideal - set back from any noise, with stunning views and amazing staff.

Very nice little hotel

Me and a friend (both 20s) stayed at Morina for one week as a last minute deal in May. The pool was medium in size but the pool area was more than large enough for a hotel of its size with view across the resort with no other hotels overlooking. There is a small pool bar which though lively, is away from all the rooms so never disturbed us. There is a café style area where a typical Turkish breakfast is served. They did do other food but we never ate there. Food and drink price was reasonable and the friendly staff even let us use there work laptop to go on the internet for free. Only bad thing to say about this hotel is the Mosque next door which does a ‘Calls to Prayer’ at 5am every day, it is quite loud but we soon go used to it and I didn’t even wake us up. More of a family resort but Hisaronu is a 4 minute bus journey away and much livelier. You can also get a bus to Fethiyre for about 50p. We recommend going on the 12 island boat trip and jeep safari trip, but be prepared to get very wet! Basics: Beach – 12 minutes Olu Deniz centre - 8 minutes Bus stop - 2 minute Rooms: Two single beds and a kind of sofa thing that could have slept one more Bathroom with shower cubicle Small balcony over looking the whole resort Half size mirror above dressing table Good wardrobe space (room underneath for case storage) Cleaned daily to high standard
Fantastic hotel

We were moved to the Motel Morina on arrival at the resort, the hotel we had originally booked was not yet open for the season. This got our holiday off to a dubious start, but that is the fault of the tour operator Vision Holidays. However we could not have been happier with the experience we had at the Motel Morina. The view from our (small) balcony was just breathtaking, the rooms were cleaned from top to bottom daily with clean towels and linen each day. The towels were pleasingly larger than the little things you usually get in Mediterranean hotels. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. The hotel is basic but I think it is represenative of the general standard of the area, 2 and a half beds, bathroom with shower, wardrobe and balcony. Personally we don't require or wish for anything else on holiday. The flowers and fruit trees in the grounds of the hotel were beautiful, the proprieters grow their own vegetables so much of the food you eat there is home-grown. Breakfast is a standard Turkish buffet. The walk to Olu Deniz front took 12 minutes, the return trip was a little longer as it is uphill but the stroll is pleasant in the evenings. My husband and I had a fabulous time at this hotel and as whole on our holiday in Olu Deniz. I would recommend trying a Turkish bath and massage and also paragliding with Sky Sports for the brave, I have done it twice and loved it. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again. One word of warning, the Mosque is right next door and one of the Calls to Prayer is issued at 5am every day so it can be loud, but it doesn't last long.
Needs a refurb

Have just got back and am about to complain to tour operator 'vision holidays' (who were awful!!). Our room was very basic. There was a balcony but we had to sit out on it one at a time as was so small. The carpet had burn marks from cigarettes and a travel iron and there was chewing gum trod into the carpet. The bathroom was not cleaned the whole time we were there and was dirtier after the cleaner had been in to change the towels as she got mud all over the floor. The service in the poolside bar was not good either. Pool area was pleasant enough and there was some nice plants around. Vision holidays are cowboys. They changed our flight home as was over booked but lied to us about reasons. The expensive transfers they arranged for us went right over the mountain, rather than through the new tunnel to save them a few bob. This added extra time onto journey and was quite frightening as road in bad state of repair and no seatbelts. Loved Turkey's coast line, was beautiful, but wouldn't go back to this hotel if you paid me!
Hotel from hell
from cilla&les
the hotel was filthy there was a fitted carpet int the room that had never been cleaned for the last twenty years. A double room was 6by 8 you couldnt swing a cat in it.The bathroom had a cracked toilet cistern and a hole in the floor for the shower in twenty years of visiting Turkey I have never seen any thing like it . when the girl in the next room showed us all the bites on her ankles i quickly realised that they were not mosquito bites but suspiciously like flee bites therefore the first night my husband and myself were forced to sleep on sunbeds around the pool. Not surprisingly we quickly paid to upgrade
Replacement Honeymoon - Fantastic!!!!

Just returned from a week at the Morina the hotel it is stated a 2 star, yes the rooms are very basic (bed, wardrobe, and bathroom there is aircon at a cost - this is a must in the height of the season, they also have mosquito mesh at the windows) and be prepared for this but everything about this hotel makes up for the room. The staff are friendly and helpful and like to have a laugh with you and certainly make children very very welcome (thanks for pushing me in the pool Hakki, you got me eventually!!!). The pool is not huge but because the hotel is very small and family run the pool is never packed and you ALWAYS get a sunbed without having to get up at the crack of dawn to roll the towels out and boy what a view. Breakfast is traditional turkish breakfast which consists of bread, butter, jam, cheese, olives, eggs etc, however if you do not wish to eat your breakfast at the hotel then there are plenty of restaurants in town which is five minutes walk down the hill where you can order a full english (beans are a big yuck though-not Heinz). Olu Deniz is set in the hills and is absolutely beautiful, the scenery and views are stunning. The people here are extremely friendly but they dont hassle you like they do in other parts of Turkey if you do not wish to purchase they generally say no problem maybe next year, which was so refreshing compared to Gumbet. The beach is absolutely gorgeous, it is shingle and beach shoes can be purchased all over the town, but the views from the beach take your breath away, however if you would prefer to go for sand with amazing scenery then go to the lagoon which is situated about another five minutes from the beach. You have to see it to believe it and if you have young children then this is the place to be as the waters are shallow so that the children can play. I would recommend that you ask Hakki at the hotel about the free transfer to the beach as they will pick you up from the hotel and drop you to the beach, they will also pick you up from the beach and take you back. At night the town really comes to life, there are lots of shops, bars and restaurants (I would recommend secret garden, olive grove, Old Antique and the Oyster Bar, these are a must). Down on the beach at night there are also a couple of bars that have set up bean bags and chairs with lights and candles on the tables for the more romantic of you out there. I would also recommend that at least one evening that you go on a dolmus to the town of Hisonaru which is 4km away, you can get some cheap deals here for purchases to take home and jewellery shop is really excellent value for money (the best being situated just past the dolmus pick up point for Olu Deniz on the left hand side I think it is pretty much the last shop. or if you fancy a night in then the food at the hotel is very nice and much cheaper than in town. I would also like to recommend that if you are approached on the beach by a person from the kings garden for taking a trip the the tombs and the restaurant then definately go, the view and sunset across Fethiye is amazing. There are plenty of things to do if you dont want to just relax, there is paragliding from 6500ft off the mountain, hire a speedboat, go island hopping, turkish bath, Pedaloe hire, diving and parascending to name a few. I dont really think there is anymore that I can say except have a fantastic holiday (im so jealous) and I will definately be going back next year!!! have fun..... xxx ps if you have any questions or want anymore information then you can contact me at lisa.m.hall@btinternet.com
