Chrysland Cove Hotel Chrysland Cove Hotel Studios Reviews Chrysland Cove Hotel Studios Reviews Chrysland Cove Hotel Studios Reviews

Surrounded by spacious gardens and overlooking the sea and small rocky cove, the friendly Chrysland Cove Hotel lies in a relaxed setting away from the crowds. There’s a sandy beach about a 10 minute walk away up the hill and Fig Tree Bay at Protaras is just a short bus or taxi ride away. The hotel offers light entertainment with cabaret shows, games, Greek lessons, Cypriot night and a weekly barbecue but for more lively nightlife then Ayia Napa is not too far away

Hotel was of average 3* standard, the food was good, always a good variety of hot and cold dishes available, different theme nights. Staff were very friendly. There seemed to be a few repeat customers there. The rooms are quite spacious, all with side sea views and have TV with BBC world! Hairdryers in the room, air con included.

The seafront is not somewhere you would go to sunbathe as it's just a rocky cove area, ok to stroll down and watch the boats go by for a while but not for swimming. The garden area looked a bit neglected and dry, had a few sun beds around, crazy golf and volley ball net.

Pool and surrounding area nice, bit of a suntrap! Billy the resident entertainer did his daily rounds of getting people up to play water volley ball, pool or darts. He and his girlfriend Helen did a good job each day night to try and keep people entertained, which wasn't that easy as we were there the last week of the season as the hotel was closing down for the winter when we left on 8 Oct, earlier than most hotels. Most nights they did a quiz, bingo, disco and either karaoke or Elvis!

The drinks from the pool bar are in plastic cups but obviously for health and safety reasons near the pool! No complaints about the drinks, even had a coffee machine on the bar which was self service. No bottled water included in the all inclusive but iced water by the glass available. The gym and Jacuzzi were not available when we were there.

My only negative point is the location, it is 4km from the centre of Protaras. We walked and it took 35mins or 80 cents on the bus or CY£5 taxi. The bus stop is outside the hotel and the buses run every 20 mins daytime, hourly at night. It is very isolated having only 1 supermarket in the immediate area. So if all you want to do is chill out for a week it's ideal otherwise you have to rely on transport.

There is a lot of building work around the area but noise levels were kept to a minimum.

It is obviously an up and coming area.

Libra representation was poor! On the arrival transfer the coach driver was constantly on one of his 2 mobiles talking! The hotel rep did a welcome meeting giving incorrect information about excursions etc and the departure transfer which should have picked around 12 of us up at 04.10 for the 07.00 flight was late and arrived at 04.50 which left a lot of us extremely worried. I asked the rep why the bus was so late and was told "the coach driver slept in!"

So overall I was quite happy with the hotel in general but wasn’t that impressed with Libra holidays representation!

The Hotel did not have a very good geographical location it was very far from the beach and the town. The Hotel itself was very clean but offered limited choice to people with special dietary needs and when a request was made for a vegetarian friendly dish it was met with some resentment and confusion with kitchen staff asking me to speak to reception and reception asking me to speak to the kitchen. There wasn’t much choice either for friends who went and ate meat. The day time snacks were a joke to serving fish fingers and crusty burgers.

Staff there were mainly pleasant enough though apart from the entertainment - the entertainer "Billy" was loud mouthed and very vulgar and swore alot and made crude suggestions.

The destination Protaras was beautiful and the Cyprian people were very friendly but I don’t think I would stay at the Chrysland again or use the tour operators Libra who employ some rude staff who do not know the meaning of customer courtesy. The Brochure also lies the all inclusive free drinks only lasts until 11 pm and after that prices of drinks are extortionate and served in tiny plastic cups!
