After suffering a horrendous fully inclusive holiday, I have since booked my own holidays from start to finish.
I have now visited the area of Mojacar in Almeria Spain. If you like to lie on an uncrowned beach with mountains in the distance and a great section of quality restaurants in the evening and several markets in bus or car distance then you will love this area.
I booked through a company called the property shop that look after and rent out owners villas apartments and houses. The English couples are very helpful.
We have always opted for the same road of houses called Valle de la Palmera, which are about 15 duplex houses that share a swimming pool. Most of the time we were the only people in the pool as many of the owners only live there in the winter. A good size house with a kitchen, dinning room, living room, cloak room 2 good sizes bedrooms. A roof terrace. A large terrace from the living room. A patio to the rear and a balcony from the main bedroom. Excellent for a family of four.
The house was about five minutes walk from the beach, bus stop and restaurants. Up in the mountains in the village of Mojacar, which is an old white village with little alleys leading you up to the top of the village which has a huge marble terrace that over looks the mountain and sea.
Gurrucha is about 2 miles along the coastal road and is a working fishing village. We can recommend you try the Dorado fish or ea bream as it is known in the UK. They cook it fanned on a charcoal grill using olive oil. A great lunchtime treats after the Gurrucha weekly market. Below are the companies I used to put together my holiday,
